we pay taxes so we can have police and fire services, this weird place charges a extra fee to save your house or kids from burning up.

Who're the 'we'? I realise most places aren't this retarded, but you mean to say that they have to pay extra insurance money on top of taxes? I assumed it was the old 'transferring responsibility from corrupt government to devolved bodies' spiel.

Not to be the heartless one here, but if the clear cut policy is that you have to pay the $75 for the service, then you shouldn't get it if you don't pay. That's just the way capitalism works. Now, are the firefighters assholes? Probably. Doesn't change the fact that they were following established rules. Should they have saved the house and then just charged the family? Again, probably.
In all seriousness though, fuck yea, 'murika!

Is a bank heartless bastards when they foreclose on a house then?
Seriously? are you really asking that?
Of course they are, they've always been
So it's cold and heartless to being forced to foreclose on someone after repeatedly giving them chances to do what they need to do and just being unable to help them anymore?
It's so easy for people to point fingers. But like stated, the firefighters have their own families to worry about. Their own jobs and supporting themselves. They had repeatedly reminded the family to pay their fee with no results.
It's not their fault the situation occurred. It's not. You can point the blame at the mayor and the city. You can point the blame at the family for not paying in the first place. But you can't blame the firefighters caring more about their families than a complete stranger.
Yeah, but banks dont repeatedly give them chances, and to add on, their interest system generally results in an inability to pay back. I'm not advocating removing interest, but when its pretty obvious that a family is struggling to pay even that interest, concessions must be made
Yeah, the families are at fault, but are they really going to stand there doing nothing about the fact that people's lives are being ruined? Yeah, self survival and all that crap, ruins any sense of morality. And anyways, its not like saving the house would result in being fired and whole families being destroyed. The family who didn't pay was wrong, but you can't just ignore them because of that, and pin excuses about needing to support your family because you would still be able to regardless of whether you saved it or not.

Of course it's unusual, but any assumption that this is commonplace wouldn't be without precedent. State government and its power in autonomy is only used by a handful of countries, i.e. very few worldwide have the power to implement something like this. When we see politicians passing retarded laws in this vein it's more highlighting a general flaw in the (otherwise decent) political system and all its nuances, than it is lampooning 'stupid, capitalist Americans'. It's a rare incident within its field, but this kind of thing could only happen in America.

Most banks do, in fact, give many chances for them to repay loans. And it is not uncommon FOR concessions to be made. Some don't, but they are much rarer. So yeah.
Saving the house would have probably resulted in them being fired. I've seen and heard of people fired for similar actions, so yeah. And that doesn't even cover the liability issues. Cause there are assholes who would sue those people FOR saving their house. Don't doubt it.
But no, people can sit here and judge. But the majority of people would do the same thing in the same situation.

Thats true, but then that goes for everything else. If you are an office worker, and you were runnning late for your job, and you saw a guy that got shot on the sidewalk, would you just leave him? Because that guy can sue you, or you can lose your job because you were late. Yes, I know people who have lost their jobs because they were late once, although it was really late.
Of course, this and that aren't the same thing, but your words can be applied to a broader area
