Wow I don't suppose the US government is going to actually go after copyright infringing sites the way it is currently slated, right? Or is this just a coincidence after SOPA being shot down?

This affects all the Mega sites fyi

With four arrests in N.Z of MU staff i dont think it will be up again anytime soon.

Daaamnn. The charges were based on laws other than SOPA, I'm guessing?

That would be correct. SOPA did not pass or even make it to the House floor.

I haven't used it that much recently, but even so...

SHIT GODDAMMN SON.

This is it. In about 5 to 10 years there will be super-soldiers roaming the streets in California because of Mormons, and Chinese Fascists will begin rounding up the last Europeans.

They better leave uTorrent alone. Going after uTorrent is a deceleration of war!!

EDIT: What is written above is a joke and not intended to cause harm to any-noun. Please do not JFK me Mr. Government.

A pity really. And I bought a 6 month account 2 weeks ago damn it!

I love how so many trolls are having a field day with this; how they're saying that SOPA caused all of it. Not the case, as the U.S. had been after MegaUpload for years. It seems they finally got 'em, but the staff won't just go down without a fight. I expect to hear interesting news in the coming days.

Utorrent is a program that access share context via other users.. they can't stop a program.

http://techland.time.com/2012/01/19/feds-shut-down-megaupload-com-file-sharing-website/. All my uploaded VNs are in trouble now... for those who wants to download my uploaded VNs, please tell me which VN you are keen to download and I will upload it on mediafire. Nevertheless, I will still upload all the VNs in mediafire now. Please understand that I need some time to do that. :)

Well Fakku, something quite big has happened that might upset many of you. The highly used file-sharing site Megaupload was taken down by the FBI today (January 19th, 2012) due to violating piracy laws.

McLEAN, Virginia (AP) — One of the world's largest file-sharing sites was shut down Thursday, and its founder and several company executives were charged with violating piracy laws, federal prosecutors said.

An indictment accuses Megaupload.com of costing copyright holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated films and other content. The indictment was unsealed one day after websites including Wikipedia and Craigslist shut down in protest of two congressional proposals intended to thwart online piracy.

I feel that this was important to share because many links on Fakku and other hentai comic or game sites use Megaupload for many uploads. I feel terrible for those who just bought memberships and those who lost VERY rare files.

I think the current US copyright law has it set out like this.

If the copyright is held in the US and the holder has taken all the right steps such as informing the authorities, at least one C&D being issued, and sufficient time to wait for compliance; then the local (US) authorities can proceed with finding the people infringing on the copyright and begin with legal proceedings. Even if the people infringing are in a different country as long as the country cooperates there isn't an issue.

Moving the server outside of the US makes the process take much longer and the infringing party will have to be making LOTS of money, like the Mega sites, for it to be worth the time and money.
