Terrorists in Norway

Actually, I don't think there might have been that many Muslism on that youth camp to begin with; I think it had more to do with all of immigrants.
Not that it really matters, since either way he ended up killing so many of his countrymen. "Patriot" huh? What a retarded asshole.
The death toll so far is just horrific - over 80 people killed on that camp by now, and they're still searching. No way that guy was alone, you just can't get that many people in such a short time. Which rasies the question of who backed him up.
Nether the less, it's just horrible, how far those nutjubs will go just because their views aren't pampered.
Condolences to all Norwegian people.

At the very least, he knows how to get pissed off. And you mean "because their views aren't accepted".

"Pampered" might have been too strong of a world, but I doubt they would be satisfied even if their views were accepted. Most of the time, everything has to go exactly as they want it, or they'll still be either whining, or doing horrible stuff like blowing people up.

If their views were just understood, they would probably not be satisfied. If their views were accepted, we would be living in their world. In other words, understanding is not acceptance. Back to my original statement, we all understand their intentions and views, and what they're talking about. We just think it's stupid. My problem is that I hope you never use "because their views aren't understood, we can fight back".
On to the topic of terrorism, I like the fact that they can still blow shit up. Because that seems to be the only way to get any actual attention.

Well yes, I always too accepting and understanding as similar, if not same, concepts when it came to ideologies and all, but It might just be me.
And no, I don't think it's possible to fight against something you have no idea about. Understanding is key to both prevention, and countering. Dialogue too, but extremists aren't exactly known for begin reasonable negotiators. At least, the rank and file of them.
And speaking of which, it seems like Europe forgot the fact we still have a good number of our own die-hard fanatics. Islamists are the most obvious terrorist threat, but they aren't the only ones. And the most recent political and economic events didn't exactly promote openness and tolerance.

I cannot understand your first sentence, but it seems like you are saying understanding and acceptance are the same. I was, and am disagreeing with that.
Not just knowing how to counter it, but so that you can have justification to counter it. I'm saying you shouldn't go around just stomping out any activist group without first knowing what they're about.
People who practice Islam are called Muslims. Muslims are not a terrorist threat. The Taliban are.

Yes, that's what I meant. Although I can also see where your own views come from. To be perfectly honest, I never really gave that much thought to it.
And I agree with your point that you shouldn't just go around stomping out all activists groups (as much as it may sound appealing to some), but if such groups pushes through certain boundaries, it needs to be punished accordingly. I don't mind If extreme-right wings do their marches and shout their slogans, I do, however, mind and think it's wrong for them to randomly go on killing spree just because they can't get through to the people.
And by "Islamists", I meant Islam-practicing terrorists, which include the Taliban, but also scores of all other cells such as those in Yemen, Somalia, the extremists in Saudi Arabia and disfranchised radical Muslim youth in number of European nations. It's shorter that way.

I'm from Norway and i knew somebody who went there. Luckily she survived. I just hope nobody nobody else i know also went to the camp.
All norwegian channels have only been seending news about the incident for the last 24 hours. Everything else has been put on hold.
Kind of strange to think about it i have passed the place the bomb went of many times.

That's pretty cool.

The NYT article I just read on it this morning sounded horrifying: the shooter, dressed as an officer, beckoned to fleeing kids as they tried to escape to safety on the water.
Then he shot them.
WTF, world... it's scary that these sort of incidents can't be detected when it's one crazy person who snaps and ruins the lives of so many.

Yeah, I read about this and the details were very upsetting. I feel bad for all the families that lost loved ones and it pains me to imagine the kids running away scared while getting shot at. It's terrible.
Sigh.
Sigh.

[font=verdana][color=green]From what I know, when the shooter initially started shooting at the young people; there were two options to run - left or right. Those that went right lived and those that went left died. Kinda noteworthy, I thought.
Also, he posted a 1500 page document on the internet hours before the attack. Explains his hatred of immigrants and the like; almost makes his views seem valid and reasoned, if it wasn't for the bigotry behind it. Also shows that this has been years in the planning; it's startling to see that he was able to plan this horrific event for so long without intelligence catching up to him.
However, it is possible that he is acting alone. So far, he has claimed as such, but I read a post before (I think it was Room) saying that it was impossible for him to kill so many people in that time that he had before the Police SWAT team arrived on the island. Think about it; the explosion in the city acted as both a method of destruction and a diversion. The police would have been focused on securing the area, making sure that there are no other suspicious vehicles in the area and helping out the medical teams where they can. Would they have expected a double attack? Of course not. That's why it took them an hour, perhaps even longer, to get the island at all - an hour is plenty of time to kill dozens of people.
The most surprising aspect of the whole situation was that they were able to capture the suspect alive. In this situation, you would think that either the police would be forced to kill him as he continues his rampage or he would have killed himself. Hopefully they'll be able to bring him swift and harsh judgement; but, from what I know, the maximum sentence in Norway is 21 years. Is anyone from Norway able to tell me whether or not this sentence is "stackable"?

4chan is seriously pissing me off. Why? Because ~80 people died? Guess what, there are people dying right now, probably by the hundreds. This is bad, but guess what, it's not the worst. And the people at 4chan know the worst. And instead of bitching or crying or getting shitfaced about it, they turn it into smiles and lulz.

Maybe if I clarified why I was "pissed off" at some people at 4chan.........But hey, thanks for assuming stuff.
It's not the fact that some are just laughing it off. Oh no no, if you actually read(well I'm not done with it) the guys book and you see fanatics and the occasional troll rally behind this guy like he's some sort of messiah.

Well, if you actually had something more substantial to say other than something that intrinsically doesn't even have anything to do with the original topic, and if you didn't call 4chan out, an entirely big pool of people full of many possibilities, I could've only assumed.
We don't laugh it off, haha, we make fun of it.

"The people at 4chan know the worst" lol. That's a laugh. Pretending that you're not a hypocrite like everyone else is a lot worse than admitting that you are one.
I'm not saying that we should all start crying and that you can't make a joke even about such an incident as this (even though a "too soon" has to be said), but making posts where you praise the guys killing of innocent kids at point blank range is kind of a dick move, not very lulzy, just very stupid.
I'll be interested to see what happens to the guys though. Norway dun have the death penalty, and the longest prison sentence is around 21 years I think, so that sucks. Though I'm thinking that he will want to stay locked up forever, cuz if the people heard he was getting out they'd be greeting him with a gun up his ass right outside the gate.
