The whose who of Doctor Who
0
I've noticed that we haven't had a good Doctor Who thread on here for a while now, and after a rousing conversation with one of my fencing mates about the soon to be season six, I thought "why the hell not make a topic about this?"
Well, enough rambling, let's get down to business. What are you most looking forward to this season? What are some of your favorite moments from the show? And most importantly, who is your favorite, or first doctor?
Very quickly for me; Nazi's are making an appearance, that's bound for a laugh or two, "Are you my mummy," and lastly, the ninth and the fourth, respectively.
Just for shits and grins.

The empty child episode scared the living daylights out of me, to this day I can still barely stand to hear "are you my mummy?"
*shivers*
ANYWAY
Ive only ever experienced the new Who (IE: 10, 9 and 11), But after reading the science of doctor who and watching some older clips, im thinking about watching some classic Who episodes. And the first doctor for me was 10, mainly because the first one I watched was his christmas episode. I then later watched some Of 9's stuff, which was awesome XD
And now some of my fave youtube tributes to The Doc

I love Doctor Who. I started at 9 and now we're at 11. =)
I have watched a few of the old episodes though. Mainly the old Tom Baker ones.
Empty Child and The Doctor Dances are my fave from season one. The Weeping Angels is also an amazing episode. And I loved it when they visited Shakespeare. Can't wait for season 6 to start. >_>

About damn time a Dr. Who thread spawned here.
Best TV series around at the moment and I watched a bit of filming for an episode of season 6 as it was being done not too far from where I live.
Matt Smith is doing good so far as the current Doctor.

I agree with Matt Smith doing a great job. After all the technobabble and drama that Moffat wrote, it's nice to just have an actor who has fun with the role. I felt that towards the end of Tennant's "tennature" he got to caught up with the role and played it for the dramatics.

Has the Doctor visited the Renisance yet? I would love to see da vincis reaction to the TARDIS XDYou know, I try to think of an answer, and I keep coming up with a "no," but it's been in serialization for so long I'm not sure. You've given me a mission for tonight.

Aren't we due for a new version of "The Three Doctors" or something like in the old times where he needed the help of his past two generations?

Explaining to the Radio Times why he didn't last long, Eccleston said: "I was open-minded but I decided after my experience on the first series that I didn't want to do any more. I didn't enjoy the environment and the culture that we, the cast and crew, had to work in.
"I thought if I stay in this job, I'm going to have to blind myself to certain things that I thought were wrong. And I think it's more important to be your own man than be successful, so I left."
"so I left. And crushed poor VotableDrWhat's heart."

Series 6 Prequels
So it seems that series 6 is going to have 3 mini "prequels" before 3 episodes in the series. The first one will air soon before episode 1 is aired on the above site.

I've been working my way through the old series over the past year. Just watched 'Remembrance of the Daleks.'
Can't say I have one favourite Doctor, as I enjoy them all in their own ways, but Nine was my first [you know how that goes] and I've developed a fondness for Two [shame he's so little episodes left].
Also, the 50th Anniversary is coming up in 2013, so they've got to be doing something for that. I'm not sure about a multidoctor crossover, though; Moffat said somewhere that multidoctor eps should be limited to 8 minutes. Still, they've got to do something; how many shows are going strong after a freaking half-century? At the very least I'm hoping for a snazzy TV movie with loads of continuity porn [ie, like The Five Doctors].

Douglas Adams -the man who created The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy- wrote a couple of Doctor Who episodes back in the 1970s. However, it turns out that Adams wrote a third episode that was never completed, but it now turns out that the episode is going to be published as a novel by BBC Books next year.
The book version is being written by Gareth Roberts (who has already written some other novels in the Doctor Who universe), the man who recently penned the excellent episode "The Lodger." It will be interesting to see if Roberts is able to successfully adapt Adams' writing style, which is pretty unique. That said, "The Lodger" was one of my favorite episodes of the most recent Doctor Who season because it was simultaneously bizarre, epic, cute, and (in the end) incredibly heartwarming. Hopefully the novel will do Mr. Adams some posthumous justice.

I'm not surprised to hear that actually =/
Also, starting to see teasers on TV now.
Not long to go now!

I hadn't heard about the novel of 'Shada.' I've seen the flash-animated version of it with Eight, though.
But yeah, 'The Lodger' was one of my favourites from last year, so here's hoping.

Me too. I'm in absolute ecstasy. The wait is too much to take for me.
