Never was into muscular guys in tights so comics never caught my attention. And I'm a bit of an underground kinda dude myself so wuts popular is so not cool with me.
On da topic of manga:One Piece kicks so much ass, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi is an awesome read, Katekyo Hitman Reborn is pretty original, and a gr8 classic is Yu Yu Hakusho! :D

I give support to both with having manga overshadowing american comics by a small margin, only because, a lot of american comics influenced me when i was a child, and then the appeal of manga started to drag me in, with its simplistic, yet sleek art styles, and unique drawings. I love both manga and american comics, just because they both have some unique art styles, authors, illustrators, and have their own perks.
Without the influence of some American comics, manga may have not even been created!

I'm gonna be the obvious weeb here and go with manga. No part of me is really interested in US comics. I have nothing against them, they're just not for me. Though I don't like the art style in most comics so I guess I do have something against them after all.

i like Japanese manga, because US comics don't really have interesting storyline, not have many mystery behind it.

Even when I read comics, they were of Pokémon and the likes, a few issues of Dirty Pair as well- very Eastern influenced comics!
Anyhow, it's no shock that manga is a landslide victor, I'd probably have to agree. Though I certainly dig a nice comic issue here and there.

Don't get me wrong, I love manga. It just can't top comics with me.
While you're at it, what's your favorite? I really love Green Lantern comics and Nightwing is pretty awesome. I also really dug the Marvel Ultimate line before it kind of went to crap. Some of the X-Men offshoots are pretty cool, too.
As for manga, I really love Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist. One Piece is a great read, too.

There are a few good comics out there such as Slipshine, Filthy Figments and Dark Brain comics. Quite a few of these have very interesting story lines.

I grew up on US comics, but since I have found Manga in all of its splendid varieties... they pale in comparison.

well for me i love both of them but if i really choose id chose japanese because of a wide range of stories and genres..unlike US theyre more on superpowers and heroic theme based..
