We've only got 4 years left until the Zombie Apocalypse, so we'd best be prepared.

I just finished 'Dies the Fire' by S.M. Sterling so now naturally I can't find 'The Protector's War' which is the second book in the series. Its a very well-written sci-fi series. Here's a synopsis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emberverse_series

"Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong" by James Loewen.
If you still remember what your US history teacher taught you, I would seriously recommend this book. It really shines a light on what US history really is.

That is a very good book and a very interesting read. My history professor had the class read portions of Loewen's book and Zinn's book (see below) instead of the regular history textbook.
A similar book is Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States. It tells stories that never get told, things that if you repeated it to a regular Joe would probably upset the guy immensely. It will really make you think about the history of the US.
