Sure you'll only take it for so long, but if they stopped there "bad boy" ways while you are still intrigued by them you wouldn't be attracted anymore.

the bad boy image is only attractive until you get to know them. so if a guy is a jerk, i only know him as a jerk, then he asks me out...no. but if the guy is a jerk, then i get to know him and he is no longer a jerk and we connect, then he asks me out, then score
edit:
i suppose that at the end of the day i may be attracted to the occasional "bad boy" but it doesn't mean i will date them. who you are attracted to and who you will actually date are two different things.
