Well, I do love those REALISTIC mechs from Gasaraki. The Tactical Armors were fucking awesome. Only an hour of independent operation, not versatile in every terrain type, had heavy blind spots, etc. I know I just naming the negatives, but that's what I enjoyed. These machines werent perfect, they had faults; it made them more believable. They're probably the closest thing to a real mech we'll see in an anime. ...Well, except for maybe that artificial muscle system they use...
But if we're going for totally ridiculous, gundam-style then I'd have to go with MS 07 GOUF. Always had a soft spot for this very sparsely produced, One Year War classic.

As far as lighter mechs go, I gotta go with White Glint from Armored Core for Answer.

Gotta be Epyon, this gundam started my obsession with gunpla. In a way it is a blessing and curse. Cool gundam, but it cost me a lot of money.

Probably going to produce a lot more 'miracles' as the show goes on, but it's already more than powerful enough if they stick someone better into mech (like Ali Al-Sarches who defeated 2 superior gundams by himself).

Mine has to be the VF-25 Messiah from Macross Frontier. An all purpose craft that can transform to GERWALK mode and Battlroid forms extremely quickly and when out fitted with it's heavy armor can take quite a beating and destroy enemies with barrages of missiles.
