Your Personal Death Note

This is an idea that I saw on other forums I was once registered on, so I figured I might create it here with the blind faith, as faith always is, that it won't be a replica of a previous one.
If you know the anime Death Note, you probably guessed the entire point of this already but if you haven't heard of it, I'll explain without giving away any spoilers.
Death Note is an anime about an overachieving but bored schoolboy named Yagami Light. One day, he finds a Death Note which is a notebook dropped by a Shinigami named Ryuk who, interestingly enough, was bored with life the same way Light was (interesting paralelism here, isn't it?). Anyway, the basic rule of the notebook is that, if you write someone's name on it whose face you can recognize, that person will perish within forty seconds no matter how distant you are.
So the hypothetical questions are: If you had one of these, who would you kill and for what reason? Would you get personal or global? Would you attempt to use it for good or evil?

Ehh I don't really got anyone I want to kill. I'm not one of those emo psychopaths who is like, "I'd totally kill all those douches who were mean to me in high school" (not that there were any). I suppose the only potential use for it would be on a global scale, but that could have unforeseen consequences so you'd have to be careful.

There has already been a thread similar, asking who we'd kill (without a Death Note).
I wouldn't kill anyone unless they deserved it, I.E murdered people for fun. Also you forgot to mention that the Death Note has negative consequences itself, so I wouldn't use it.

I have a few people in mind, but they'd be mostly global figures who deserve it. Known collaborators in genocide, serial rapists, negligent parents who list children because of their backwards beliefs, certain individuals who fight to restrict the rights if others due to biggotry, etc. Method specified? Mostly "divine" lightning to protestant Christians, fire to Catholics, poisonous gas leakages to Nazi sympathizers (who actually harm people, KKK members and the like), suffocation on a children's toy to negligent parents, everyone else gets a personalized and ironic death.

I'd rather use my own hands to kill someone than write down their name. But, I don't have anyone I'd want to kill anyways so it doesn't matter.

An actual answer: I don't think I could. What would I think of myself if I killed someone just because they were in my way? Or killed someone just because they had something I wanted to possess?
Since this is a hypothetical question, I'd kill Peter Molyneux. The asshole had billions of dollars, and he starts kickstarters for his shitty games.
Have I mentioned his games are absolute shit? They generally are.

It is sort of bland to answer an hypothetical question with «I wouldn't». Aside from missing the point, can you honestly say that if you found a Death Note you wouldn't even care to use it? Besides, can you honestly say that, in your entire life, you have never met or seen someone you had a burning hatred for, even if only caught in the fever of the moment?
The reason I mentioned Death Note is because of the way it works, appealing to the core of a very common psychological test. In short, psychologists test people by creating a scenario where they have the choice to kill someone by pulling a lever and getting a certain result. And later, they have to kill someone by pushing them and getting the same result. The ending is the same, the method is different. People usually think "I'm just pulling a lever so why not?" but it changes when they have to take direct action.
Even if your Death Note turned out to be a petty way to fuel your vengeance not even trying to use it seems pointless, especially since this is all hypothetical -.-'
Personally, I would use it on various leaders of organizations like the Roman Catholic Chruch which takes the money of poor ignorant people to feed their greed which is simply counter-intuitive to what Jesus taught, not to mention the child rape and consequent protection of priests. I would use it on Muslim leaders and spokesmen who are obvious liars and, to give religion a little break, I would give PETA their share since they are the epitome of hypocrisy.
For personal reasons, I would probably write down Stephen Baldwin, Kirk Cameron, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Will Smith and I suppose those are the only ones I can think of for now.

To be honest I'd stay away from the fucking thing. I don't have anyone I'd like to kill and I'm not righteous enough to kill criminals or people fucking up the world. Also I've seen what happens to Light. No thank you.

This is, as I have pointed out but you seem unable to see, an hypothetical scenario. I was, therefore, expecting to create a topic for people to let loose a little with no direct consequence. No action, no consequence, no evil. Assuming none of us actually have such a book, there is no reason to be judgemental, aside from stupid. Learn how to read, pick up so Psychology books and, while you're at it, learn how to evaluate the situation to see if your judgement is sound. After all, we are all weird wankers here. We can stick together or we can wean out the ones who don't seem to know how to read.

If I ever decided to use the thing I would give some homeless guy some money so he can write down all the people I tell him to or I could find some hysterical follower like light did in season two to do the dirt work for me.
Anyway I would kill All the rothchilds. As for other annoying rich people I would just get them to torture themselves. Some but not all politicians would die as well as religious freaks who hold back people from progressing or having a peaceful meaningful life those such nations in the Middle east,China etc.
After all these I would announce myself as the King of Aleshimx or some made up name and go the whole Charles vi Britannia route, but I would kill the person I got to use the death note for me after making sure that ryuki or whatever shinigami I got would stay hidden from anyone who touched it but me. Also when I decided to finally announce myself would do it in some random country so no one would know where I was.
Would also not be stupid enough to use a computer to access files when I could get some random hacker to do it with my perfect clever plan. Would basically be A phantom that would never be got and be unstoppable.
All hail Phantom the king of the New world.
If I where to get to the last part of my plan I would either plunge the world into the dark ages or become a moderately will off guy who has sex with girls and eats lobster while drinking fruity wine all day.

Rational human being?
So stating that you would kill someone through an imaginary object is rational?

Yes I would say it is rational. After all we are making the world a better place.
There cannot be creation and progress with out destruction and the culling of the old.

Will we are weird but that's beside the point. Anyway yea this is all fun but if you think rationally I don't think jerking off at the idea of killing someone with a book is a product of a sane mind. Hmmmm will at least I know that he and hopefully everyone else here would actually kill people who deserve or withhold the advancement of Humanity

No, because you have built up your little straw man. I mentioned being rational when describing the distinction between right from wrong. But I see your misguided point and I can, not only entertain it, but also attack it.
Once again, to my suprise or should I say dismay, you have failed to understand what hypothetical means. I don't feel the need to have this imaginary notebook and kill people. The scenario is simply meant to, in simple terms, blow off some steam. No one feels the need to act upon this things because the premise is fake! Have I finally got that across?
Another Psychology exercise that is, somewhat, similar to this one is writing someone an angry letter and not sending it.
In short, and to see if I can [finally] make you understand, wanting to kill someone, even though it can be rational (after all, we are animals just as the others), is a disturbance that calls for help. However, wanting to write a topic in a website to talk about it among, I assume, intelligent people, by creating a fake scenario, doesn't.

I'd act the same way Light did, except i'd also aim affluent people.
If i could do that, i wouldn't care whatever happened to me.
