Your Personal Death Note

To spice it up.
There have been various copycat crimes around the world which were based on Death Note. On September 28, 2007, two notes written with Latin characters stating "Watashi wa Kira dess", [sic] or "I am Kira" (ç§ã¯ã‚ラã§ã™ watashi wa Kira desu?)[90] were found near the remains of a Caucasian male in Belgium. The case has been called the "Mangamoord" (Dutch for Manga Murder) in Belgian media. The two killers have been found and brought to justice.[91]
A senior at the Franklin Military Academy in Richmond, Virginia, United States was suspended after being caught possessing a replica "Death Note" notebook with the names of fellow students.[92]
In South Carolina, U.S. in 2008, school officials seized a "Death Note" notebook from a Hartsville Middle School student. District officials linked the notebook to the anime/manga. The notebook listed seven students' names. The school planned a disciplinary hearing and contacted the seven students' parents.[93]
In Gadsden, Alabama, U.S. two sixth grade boys were arrested for possessions of "Death Notes" that listed names of several staff members and fellow students. According to Etowah County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Lanny Handy, the notebook was found the previous afternoon by a staffer. The students were suspended from the county's schools. The students, their parents, and school officials had met with Handy and a junior probation officer.[94]
In Gig Harbor, Washington, U.S. one middle school student was expelled and three were suspended on May 14, 2008 for having their own "Death Note" books.[95]
In Illinois, U.S. a middle school student was suspended for two days around May 2012 after being caught carrying a mini version of the "Death Note" book with fellow students' names inside. The student claimed it was a joke and the people whose names were written agreed to that claim.

Child molesters, rapists and murderers in no specific order. Might target cults while I'm at it.

Ethics would be too complicated for it to be used for good. There is no certain way to determine who should die for the greater good. Personally, I don't want something like this to ever exist. But if I do manage to have one, if I had to use it would be for either personal gain or burn it. Either you put it to good use for long term gains or you stay the fuck away from it. It's a weapon that should be used with great consideration, not for something unrealistic like purging the world for justice or some stupid shit like that. You know what happened to a certain role model student with a bright future? A ton of deaths and a unhappy ending, with almost little significant change.
Exactly.

Ehh I don't really got anyone I want to kill. I'm not one of those emo psychopaths who is like, "I'd totally kill all those douches who were mean to me in high school" (not that there were any). I suppose the only potential use for it would be on a global scale, but that could have unforeseen consequences so you'd have to be careful.Exactly.

There is no certain way but there are personal reasons which is what this is all about. There would be no senate to determine what to do with the book, it would just be you. Like Light, you could apply your own code of ethics and whether it is good or evil doesn't matter. Just because the people you would kill are important to someone else doesn't mean you shouldn't or wouldn't do it. This is about the individual and his views, that's why we have a small, private notebook, not a Facebook wall.
Once again, people have failed to understand the meaning of hypothetical and it is getting exhausting. Hopefully this will explain. You say: "Either you put it to good use for long term gains or you stay the fuck away from it." Well, the point of the topic isn't to mention the obvious as you have done, it is to explain how you would use it, regardless of ethics. If you would want it to be used for good, explain how.

He ruined his own policy of killing only criminals (fake L on a live broadcast).
Also the significant change was the significant crime rate decrease and that people worldwide were cheering for him. If it was rl you'd obviously sense the impact.

I probably wouldn't use it. Killing an important person has major consequences, even if the person is evil and it may seem like a good idea.
After all, good and evil is relative. But who are you to determine who lives or dies? That kind of power causes people to either outright reject it or have a God complex. I don't think I could live with myself knowing I killed someone and it had waves of negative consequences.

i am not a killer, and i don't have any interest on killing, but the presidents don't know that... and world domination on the other hand... i would probably threaten my way to world domination... i have a master plan and all!
step 1- announce your power over death, and wait till you are universaly recognizes as insane
step 2- write the name of someone who is about to die (but no one knows he is about to), and write that with his last breath he writes on a pad with his own blood "you thought i was a joke? i ain't no joke! -"my name".
step 3- repeat step 2 until i am feared
step 4- when the police is about to get me, tell them i wrote the names of 1000 world leaders and OVER 9000!!! innocent people, and if i get killed or go to jail they die, and if on 1 year i'm not the ruler of the world, they die anyways.
step 5- after being claimed god of death, i instaurate the world's greatest harem for my personal use with 1000 female "10 out of 10" virgin women.
step 6- write in my death note that if i die or age, or anyone in my harem dies, or ages, the actual shinigamis and any other deity there is dies (except chuck norris, i still don't want to die at this step).
step 7- after i get bored of life, i erase or counter-write (?) all i ever wrote and write down the name of "chuck norris" in the death note, that way, i'll spend the next eternity paying for my sins...
step 8- write my way out of the chuckgatory into earth again, to find that humanity and all life is long gone (but chuck norris is still alive)... and yell to the infinity "WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!?!?!?!?!?! WHY CHUCK WHY?!?!".
Sounds like a plan, huh?

If I had a death note I would kill off all of the rich and famous people, making sure to include in the details that they write their last will before they die, containing, "All of my money and precious valuables go to Bauer Gonzo Terra, who lives in Southeast Portland, in Oregon, in the USA."

Someone I could recognise?
Oh, the havoc I would wreak on Hollywood/celebrities.
Bashar Assad and some other dictators would bite the dust, too.
And, Canada-specific, I'd get rid of Harper and Marois.

I would probably use the Death Note on a personal level, kill off annoying people I hate and have them do something for me right before they die, I.E. Money, Material Wealth, etc. Then to make up for it, I would use it on global scale and try making the world a better place by killing off all the dicks in government office.

I would get personal with it and I would use it for both good and evil(though I don't see how I could use it for good).

I'd learn the name of some inconsiderate jerk and just eliminate one a day for everyday of the rest of my life. Making the world a better place :3

I wouldn't take chances with something that puts me in-between heaven and hell. I'd throw it away. Too much power for one person.

Too much power for one person.Clearly, you, like most people here, don't begin to understand the concept of the Death Note. Of course, it is fiction and it's silly to act as if we have a chance of getting one but your idea of not using it, aside from being a ridiculous answer to an hypothetical question, as I've pointed out many times, is also a preposterous action. Aren't you forgetting that by throwing it away, a person could find it and use it for diabolical reasons? Maybe, if that person found you were the original owner, you'd be the first to go so he would be safe.
Don't take this as a threat. I'm just playing the game. I've tried to explain to many different people why their answers are pathetic as I've done to you. This is an hypothetical scenario game in the Random section. This is not IB. When I created this I was expecting people to actually think of an answer but, now, at the risk of upsetting some users, I think that people here are either to stupid to know how to read and how to play a silly game or they have no understanding of the World around them to know what they would do with a notebook such as this one.

It's a public forum; people are free to post and answer as they see fit, as long as it fits the rules. They don't have any obligation to answer just because you asked.
tl;dr don't call people idiots, they'll treat you like one soon enough. :^)

Ad hominem arguments are often considered a fallacy but can be a safe argument if the person getting it presents him or herself as an idiot. I presented an hypothetical scenario based on an anime, something I thought, in my stupidity, that people here would understand (even though most fail to know the meaning of the word hypothetical). So I don't think the scenario is stupid. It doesn't really break my heart to get stupid answers either. It just annoys me somewhat. And yes, it is public which means people can comment what they want. But it also means I can comment on their comments as I want. Arguments such as that one are pointless because the person using it often walks into a wall. They have no obligation? Good, neither have I.
Having said all that, I admit, the part you underlined is a bit of an hyperbole. But only a bit. My main point was that, I think, people here don't know what's going on with the World and have no opinions wider than what goes on in their houses.
I almost missed another of your little mistakes there... The point of this isn't to take *me* seriously. It is to take the scenario seriously. Is this whole thing pointless because I don't mind getting a bit rough when I feel the situation calls for it?

Get Jinxed
In all seriousness, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't kill anyone. I am, despite what it may seem at times, a very nice guy and I don't really think I have it in me to kill another person unless it was absolutely necessary.
