i probably am refusing to see reason but i dont give a damn, my uncle and three of my cousins were in the first tower when it fell. my uncle and one of my cousins were killed in the collapse, the other is paralyzed from the neck down. i dont care if only an "extreme" faction of them are responsible in my book that means they all all. so they all deserve to burn. im not just being a bigot, but at the same time i am. and i dont care. i hate them all. they can all burn and die a slow and painful death and i wouldn't even blink. By that logic, we should kill all of us Americans because we fucking bomb the fuck out of Iraq and Afghanistan and we've killed innocent civilians in those countries in our war against terror as well. I mean, the wikileaks showed that we've killed much more civilians than our govt. let on. We also nuked the Japanese, nuke tested on Bikini Atoll, and we've let oil companies destroy the earth. Let's kill all the americans.
EDIT: Also, extremist Christians who commited arson on that community center being built in Tennesee? Kill all the Christians in the US. Kill all the Americans because some extremist bombed Oklahoma City. Yeah.
Hate isn't born out of an act, but from an act towards someone =3 If that makes any sense, why am I defending this guy anyways? >.>
sympathy perhaps? for the THOUSANDS. of americans that died 9 years ago this Saturday?

apparently there might be an agreement to move the community center being built nearby ground zero.

suddenly Qur'an burning, after all that, just seems uncool rather than being an insult...

Turns out every news agency went a little too crazy over that. There wasn't an agreement in place, the pastor had said "yes I will cancel because they agreed to relocate". But, Park51 officials have said there is no agreement in place lolz.

Well, until some sort of official news press covers the physical agreement, Park51 is still there.
I really don't know what Imam Rauf is thinking, and if ^ proves to be true, makes me doubt him even more. They've already gone so far to quit now? I expected better.

Religion aside, it is like burning any book:
THEY CAN PRINT MORE.
Also, it's extremely insensitive to those practicing Islam, and should be stopped before this country gets even more bad rep than it already has... -_-
The text itself is not the problem: the way it is taken out of context by extremist practitioners IS.

blahblahblah, muslims and terrorists, blahblahblah, stupid americans, blahblahblah
Respect and acceptance can only acquired if both sides make effort to reach it. To whine about a muslim building a mosque at the WTC (when he is actually doing it to try increase the understanding of normal muslims) and to burn the Qur'an just cuz you feel like it, and just cuz you know it will upset people do not sound like people striving for peace and prosperity to me.
This is pretty ridiculous actually. Stupid Americans that refuses to even try to understand Muslims are the ones that makes these wars even worse, and they are not even the one who suffers("*sob* but a lot of people died at the WTC", yea, but that was nine years ago, get the fuck over it. You're starting to sound like Jews whining about the holocaust); the unrelated Muslim citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq and wherever else are the ones who suffer (that is, the 99% of the people that are NOT terrorists), by getting bombed by the people that are supposed to be there to "liberate" them.
Just another note I think is pretty funny; why is it always called "liberate" when Americans does it, and "invasion and occupation" when anyone else does it? Hubris someone?

new news on it looks like they wont burn it. the pastor said "he won't follow through with the burning if he's able to meet Saturday with the organizers behind a mosque planned near ground zero in New York". http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100910/ap_on_re_us/quran_burning

Not going ahead with plans to burn copies of the Qur'an is definitely a positive piece of news.
I am sure there are still people upset by the loss of their loved ones during the terrorist attacks years ago. On the other hand, many innocent Muslims have also been the target of hate and racists attacks. It is easy to tell others to forgive, but performing the actual act can be difficult. After all, most of us are only human.

sympathy perhaps? for the THOUSANDS. of americans that died 9 years ago this Saturday? So what do you think about the hundred of thousand that died in Japan when the nukes where dropped? Do you hate the entire American people for it? Or the more than a million that died in Vietnam, not including second-generation deaths caused by Agent Orange that also did major damage to american soldiers, do you condemn yourself for it?
And perhaps you missed the Muslims that died in 9/11? When you know yourself that your hatred is misplaced and reasonless(As it seems you realize) then it's time to start dealing with it.

Hemm sorry to buldge in but my country is also experiencing an almost simmilar case.I really agree with you. Come to think of it, it was religon that brought the human race together and help one another to be moralise and not a savage beast. But now, it seems that religion is the very same thing that is tearing countries apart.
It really is sad...dispite the human race being such brilliance...we distroy ourselves...
To me...we are just normal people...but it is the people that controles the country so dont just talk about it, help change what is happening around us by understanding FRIST then only acting.

ZOMG POLLUTION!
CAN'T THEY JUST COPY AND DELETE CHAPTERS (or whatever) OF THE QUR'AN ON MICROSOFT WORD INSTEAD!?
But really, IMO, it's a waste of money that could've been gone to better things.
Burn a book? It's a waste of cash and resources.
I couldn't give a shit if it was the bible, qur'an, Harry Potter books, or manga... on second thought, send the manga to me, you can burn anything I already have or don't care for.
However, the act of burning the books is to insult their religion?
o.O Whatever man.
If it's a magic holy book, couldn't it turn itself fire-proof or something?
It's not like they're actually doing anything to anyone.
Blasphemy is a victimless crime.
In the end, I'm against it, solely due to pollution.
However if they were going to use the books for campfire fuel, then okies, at least it has some use other than to please a few pyromaniacs posing as something else.
The politics behind this event?
Well all I can say is that they're going to be stirring up trouble, which is really bad in this case as this event seems to have no other purpose than that.

My favorite part is how their sign say Koran instead of Qur'an.
And, I thought it was Qu'ran, not Qur'an? Ah, whatever.

A conversation with my little brother yesterday:
LB: I burned the Qur'an
Me: What? Where'd you get that in the first place?
LB: The internet. Look.
I laughed hard after I saw it.
On topic: In my own oppinion the muslims are way too extreem with their religion. of all the muslims I know and have worked with always go "Allah this" and "Allah that".
Create a comic about Jezus, 'the holy virgin' and God that insult Christians you hardly hear anything. create one freaking comic about Allah or Mohamed and they burn down the Dannish ambassy

In arabic, we pronounce it "Qur'an", there's a little pause after the "Qur", so I guess this spelling is more or less accurate. In french we spell it "Coran", but the pronounciation is not even close to the original pronounciation in arabic.
