Sneak in and coat the books in something that makes it impossible to burn them?Impeding free speech. You are full of terrible ideas.
But can you imagine the look on their faces? Thinking about why they are prevented from burning these books that are suppose to be evil.

I must say that it's things like these that makes me think that hate speeches should be included with the few exceptions to the right of free speech (Incitement to riot and defamation being the others), burning the Qur'an should be a crime seeing how provocative it is to a large faction of people. The same with burning flags, other religious text and so on. This will lead to nothing but more hate directed to the US, from pretty much every direction.
Luckily I live in a country where this would be illegal, and doing it on this level would probably get him thrown in jail.

Except giving the Government that type of power can be a very bad idea. They aren't known for being very responsible with limits that aren't force down their throats.
No Politician here would try this, it would be career suicide.

Isn't 11/9 this year the Muslims around the world will be celebrating the Eidul-Fitri on that date? By burning the Quran on that day it will be a slap in the face to Muslims around the world. Not only will it be used as excuse by radical Muslims for provocation attack it will also anger devout Muslims followers all over the world.
There are many other ways to show your anger towards radical Muslims but burning Quran is a terrible idea. But meh go ahead if he wants to, I'm interested to see how the world will react towards this.

So fucking what if some assholes across the world shit themselves over it? We should limit our freedom because they're psychotic douchebags? Disgusting.

I would, what Lars Vilks did (And those artists in Denmark) was stupid and disrespectful, not to mention that more than 30 people died in riots and conflicts that were caused by this.

Disgusting. No, you should have enough respect for someone else's faith not to desecrate their holy book in public, but when people are ignorant and just plain fucking stupid a law against it should be implemented.

You'd criminalize something just because it's disrespectful to a group of people? When we're talking matters like this, and on this large a scale. I would. It worked here didn't it? Sweden is the single most equal country, and one that has the least crimes related to hate against faith, sexuality and so on. You know why? Because we have criminalized incitement, slander and provocation against groups that otherwise have been easy prey.

Wait what, you're wanting a law in place so people can't be assholes?
Do you know WHY things like slander and libel are outlawed?

It would be a dream world where people are respectful to each other without any factors influencing them.
Like I said, it's a stupid, but Legal Act. It will became illegal if the event has some anarchy in it, or getting some muslims or non muslims actually hurt in the event.

But it's hard to prove it will do that ahead of time. And it's kind of a moot point after the fact.

Curious and Wondering
It's kind of sad and pathetic to see a grown man, possibly educated, known as a man of spiritual faith for years, to go into such lows as to disrespect another religion and garner publicity by the worst means possible. I dunno, maybe he gets an orgasm every time he sees a Qur'an get burned or whatever satisfaction he gets from this burning soiree.
Just because one whackadoodle of a terrorist who claims to be Muslim did a dastardly act does not mean one should condemn and disrespect all who practice Islam, or the Islamic faith itself.

As many of you know, there has been a big controversy over the building of a mosque near the groud zero site. This topic is some what similar but could potentially have fatal affects on troops currenty deployed over seas and even possibly on American civilians. A Florida church is planning to set copies of the Qur'an (the Muslum equivalent of the bible) on fire on the anaiversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack. This could possibly cause an even stronger resentment to form between the Muslum and American communities. The biggest issue is that this could potentially be used by terrorist to influence the people who follow the Muslum religion to hate or even try to kill Americans.I personally believe that this is a big mistake. This is about as religious intallerant as you can possibly get. Its putting thousands of U.S. troops in even more danger then they already are. Well anyways, what do you guys think. Do you incourage this event or do you appall it?
no is not burning Qur'an is common practice in Moslem itself.
Qur'an is holy book for Islamic People. Because there was a Allah name in It. and we moslem had been taught that when you saw a piece of paper that has Allah name in it been disgraced. Burn It. the order is same to all Abrahamic base religion. Bible, Torah,
I myself had been burn a hundred copies of Qur'an because the copies quality had gone bad ( because of poor quality or the paper itself shatered on some page old copies)
Burning a Qur'an means Honoring a Qur'an itself. It was a noble cause, because you exercise restrain to any attempt that would disgraced Qur'an.
So I think we can let them burn the Qur'an. And about US army, I just can say the moment you sign that form, you had placed yourself on life threatening situation.

Yes, I think that would be a good idea, and I already have a law in place so that people can't be assholses over things like this.
Over here, the law against shit like this was implemented just after WW2 in order to protect Jews, gypsies and others that had fled to Sweden. With time it started to include slander and provocation against other groups as well, such as HBT.

Things like slander and libel are outlawed because they encroach upon other people's freedoms.
Being an asshole doesn't do that.

So you're basically saying that people should be free to burn flags, scripts, w/e. Give hate-speeches against sexuality, faiths, races and just keep on adding to prejudices and bigotry around the globe? And that having a law against this, a law which only purpose and result would be more tolerance toward others would be a bad choice, because people should be allowed to do this if they want to?
Damn, I think you should get your priorities straight.

You ever hear of the phrase. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
It's nice that you have such ideological beliefs, but reality will tear them apart if you don't think them through.

Even so, the reason of burning the Quran is because its in bad shape and there are still methods that needs to be followed like throwing the ashes in the rivers or seas instead of rubbish dump to keep the purity of the Quran.
This person who is not even a Muslim adding the fact he have no such respect of the religious book and I believe will not follow the proper method of disposing the Quran. Its his way of saying 'screw you Muslims and your Quran!'. Its more Christian vs Muslim mentality on this person mind and just uses the 9/11 as an excuses to get the chance burn them.
