Physical death is inevitable.
Consequently birth is inavitable too?
Naturally looking, that's just a transition from one state/form to another. Or are you speaking of consciousness, miss orange?
You're right, Jichan, birth is inevitable, too. ^_^ Since I don't really believe in an afterlife, I do feel physical death is also the end of your unique consciousness in its entirety. People share snippets of who you are but will never get that complete picture ever again... nor do they in Life either, I guess.
True, your death is inevitable in the end, but only If you are born. Birth is not inevitable though. There is a lot of actions, choices and consequences that lead to your birth, and if one of them would not have been fulfilled, You might not have been born. Therefore, it is not inevitable. Fact is that it is really less of a chance that just You should have been born than that someone else would have been. Of course, this is not a matter of Your free will though.
But in terms of your own life, being born was inevitable. You yourself had no say in whether you could be born or not.
Being born was not inevitable at all. I could have died before I was born for example. The fact that it did happen does not mean that it was sure to happen, no matter whether I had anything to say about it or not.

It is not for humans only but for everything we see. Like dem wise men said "to take away something you have to give it first".
I mean it as in the mother having a miscarriage or an abortion, that would kill the fetus, result in the child not being born.
As for what you said, I already said that in an earlier post =)

Well.........free will is just a thought.
What we call "Free will" is a genetic program that allows us to adapt to the enviornment quickly without the need for long term evolution.

Amen envyofdeath. Free will doesn't exist - Free will is what it feels like to think that you have a choice. Deep within your brain wheels are turning that you (as the being you identify yourself has) have no control over. We're little clockwork mice that think we are free.

I can chose to either stab it into my eye, or I can chose not to.
Even better; I have something I MUST do. I can still chose not to do it.
Ofc, if you go on about fate, then you can always say "well, that was meant to happen".

I believe everything you do is free will, You can choose to die or choose not to. Same with getting a better future, When people say "its fate that will never get a good career" They are wrong, its your own choice whether you want to get up and go to your classes.
Fate is Just something to keep the lesser part of the masses quiet so they dont die of complaining about their lives.

You hold a knife. You, sitting at the forefront of an incredible machine that collects sensory data and passes them through electrochemical algorithms developed via millions of years of evolution, believe you have a choice. But there is no choice - eventually, the chemical processes that were invoked upon picking up the knife will lead to the most probable end point that you do not stab yourself. But yet, you think you made the choice because that is what it feels like to be a human brain

I can still chose to do it if I wish to end my life. Lol, in fact, this "incredible machine that collects sensory data and passes them through electrochemical algorithms developed via millions of years of evolution" is in fact the tool of my free will.

If fate is real then i will crush it with my hand. For i don't want any other thing except for my own free will to rule my life.

I choose both things. Some things that happened to me let me believe in something like fate and the free will are the ways i choose on my life.
Something like 10% Fate / 90% Free will
Something like 10% Fate / 90% Free will

Just like many people, I believe in free will, but I also believe in chain of affect. My grandpa used to talk to me when I was young that everybody has paths they walk, and some choose the more difficult ones than others. He said the easy road isn't always the most rewarding, while straying from your path can have heavy consequences.
So deciding which direction in life you take, means that there will end up with different results, some expected and some unexpected.

Part of your life has been decided the moment you are born: the people around you, your nationality + local environment, your access to education, and fundings for all those necessities.
As such, you see poor kids that don't make it pass 5 due to something outside of their control. No doubt they would be able to grow into fine individuals had they been placed in another condition. Still, after around the age 12, when the ability to make logical arguments set in, we start to have a lot of say in what we do, and as a result, the consequences that follows.

Which do you believe in?I believe in free will. I don't believe that whole "it's all part of the bigger picture" stuff. Everything is too random for that.
Free will because think about it just for the sheer fact that your given a choice between porn or hentai means you have free will

I believe that everything that happens to us is caused by our own free will.
what will happen to us is caused by our decisions
in my opinion i think there is no such thing as fate.
just like some anime characters said.
a future that you don't create yourself is pointless .

Well, some things might actually meant to be, but the future always change for our decisions, so... Free Will.

I get what your saying, however it is a scientific fact that free will is a "program" in our genetics. The only reason we have it is to preserve ourselves without the need for evolution. For example. We reach out to touch a fire. because of the free will "program" we are able to realize that the fire hurts us, and can make the decision to pull away. without the free will "program" we'd have to wait for evolution to make us fire proof.
I realize I'm doing a poor job explaining this, but if you can get your hands on the book Genome you can read about this yourself.

I believe in both fate and free will. It is fate that determines who our parents and siblings are. It is free will that guides me to this thread =)

We will never know for sure, regardless everyone will argue about it for years on end as they come up with reasons why we have Free Will or are governed by Fate. Either way we will go through our days as we normally do. I had a professor a few years back that was insistent on explaining that we have partial Free Will and are pushed along by Fate, in a certain direction.
This is just another type of "is there a god or not" argument. If it exists we won't know, if it doesn't we still won't know for sure. That is unless the person named god/allah/shiva/fate, decides to come down and do something amazing to prove it to us, so that we don't just shrug it aside claiming its just religious fanatic.
