Gays. Born gay or choose that way?

Gays. I can't find a less offensive word but who give da fack.
Anywho, in my point of view, I used to believe people choose to be gay. Why? Well, you can't be born gay. The idea of being born gay, to me, was a statement to declare independence. It's not like back then, people thought that, yah? But anywho, after getting into a debate with my cousin, I've chose to believe that wpoeple who are "straight" can't have a word in it because they don't know what it means to be gay.
What you peoples think? Do you think people are born gay? Choose to be gay through influence? :33.

well. i'm not a gay and i dont think i'm a straight people.
people are not born to be a gay (that's the reason why woman exist in this world). man <---> woman needs to complete each other (that's why there is marriage in this world).
i think.. people becomes a gay because there is a serious problem in his life. then someone comes to help him,and he's accidentaly fall in love with the ones who helped him. (if you have read Gravitation [manga]. similar case happens in there].
to be a gay is not wrong though. because you're the one who decided who you wanna be. if you cannot live with woman, instead you can live with guy, that's fine. just live and do what you want to do.
gay is not a weirdo. they're humans, same as me,and all of the people in this world. nothing can compared us to other and no one can think him/herself highly and looking down on other. (honestly. hate people who talking shit and looking down at each other than a gay)
that's my opinion. i'm quite busy now,i'll give other explanation later.

they can be whatever the hell they want to be; what does it matter? if they think they were born gay then they were, as it does not affect you or I. Just imho.

It all depends. Some people are born gay but, sometimes people are turned into being gay because of circumstances around them.

go out and ask a gay person this question. whicher he/she picks is correct for that person. repeat till satisfied. i have 3 friends that are gay and they all give different answers. so most likely even the gay people dont know the real answer.

Its still debatable whether homosexuality is caused by biological or psychosocial factors. I personally believe that its a combination of both. However there have been some studies that have hinted towards biological influences such as prenatal hormones, genetic markers, brain physiology, and other crap that I don't really care to understand. Most of the science behind biological factors determining sexuality is either debatable or has yet to be replicated. I kind of like Freud's theory of innate bisexuality, but there are some noticeable flaws.
So long as they don't come busting into my house wearing pink hooded cloaks with matching pumps and try to fuck me in the ass while I'm sleeping, I don't care if a person is gay or not. Don't get me wrong, there are some that annoy the shit out of me and I want to punch them in the face, but the same thing applies to straight people.

I honestly don't give a flying fuck why someone wants to be gay. They have the right to be whoever they want to be and who am I to tell them otherwise?

Gay people can be whatever they wanted to be...
I won't bother them...
The only problem I found, is that some of them find me attractive and continue to flirt me around... (why oh why, why not girls do that?) :?
*sigh* I'm straight, and I have the right to be straight don't I?
@ Gays: Go flirt your fellow gays, don't flirt me and don't try to influence me either... I will be forced to sue you for harassment if you continue...
That is about the only problem I encounter with gay people...

Sometimes, its not even about being gay or not. Some people are born in the mind as a women in a mans body or a man in a womans body. But by then they get a sex change.
Gay people are fine with me. I mean its not like they are contagious or anything. The only thing I'm scared of is being friends with one and they confess to me(has happened before..)
Some men just like men, flat out.
Reason being it only happened recently was because we were taught to believe men should like women and vice versa. Now people are more acceptable of things so those people don't force themselves to be straight.
Just my opinion.
hehe...onion.

being hit on by a male doesn't bother me either really; it's flattering to hear that another human find you attractive; you don't need to do anything with them. It's a slight form of homophobia to fear being approached or hit on by homosexuals.

But in my case, some gay guy tried to influence me into becoming gay! Persistent too...
Whadefak? It happened to me...
Isn't that count as harassment?

As a heterosexual male, I will say this. Either you are born or Choose to be something, does not matter. What mater is you are proud of who you are, and what your sexual orientation is.

well it does count as sexual harassment if you felt harassed, and not all homosexuals are good people... Just gatta roll with the punches; just think of yourself as the girl in that situation; they go through that shit on a daily basis (being hit on of course).

Probably just best to leave it at something beyond reasonable control.

there are so many independant variables up in this bitch that imo it aint answerable. sexually orientation is by all means a choice, you could be gay and pretend to like woman. but sexual preference... it could be coded in our dna or learned as we go along. who cares? respect them and let them believe what they do, at least one of them is right.

Considering some of the very first replies I saw in this thread, I think I'm going to rage if I take the time to read them all so let me just cut to the chase:
The brain is unisex.
Rephrased: the brain is male or female at birth. Seasoned prison inmates are not the same as people who are born predisposed to thinking the way a typical man or typical woman does.
If you want me to really elaborate further, Freudian studies show that normal men and women are responsive to both male and female sexual stimuli. i.e. we all have some level of bisexuality earlier on in our lives (this is more prevalent in women since the responsibility of procreation is not forced upon them) and later down the road this is just surpressed in our subconcious to favor one side due to societal conditioning. i.e. we are taught male + female exclusively, and so on.
Now, as to give my own two cents on the topic of homosexuality in general and not whether or not it's nature or a choice: People need to stop being so up in arms about things that do not concern them. If a man and a man or a woman and a woman want to hug, kiss, get married, the whole nine, what difference does it make to you?
It's not raising your taxes, it's not giving you cancer, unless the couple are egging your car, it does not concern you.
I can't see being gay as a choice, it might be out of spite for women while not wanting to take the time to wank yourself, but seeing as it is one of the most discriminated lifestyles, I don't think anyone would want to make that choice if they could help it.
