Gays. Born gay or choose that way?

This statement doesn't make any sense. How can being straight be a choice if all the alternatives aren't choices? There are people that aren't particularly interested in sex but everyone is either attracted to men, women, or both. There's no such thing as an actual "non-sexual".
I know. it wasn't meant to make sense.

It all depends. Some people are born gay but, sometimes people are turned into being gay because of circumstances around them.To address my previous statement: The "sometimes people are turned gay because of circumstances around them" I meant that traumatic experiences can also change ones sexual preferences such as molestation or abuse.
To show my new stance on the subject I'll quote Ron White
Ron White wrote...
We're all gay, man. It's just to what extent are you gay."discordia wrote...
i think humans are born bisexual, and chose to repress one side or the other...comes with gender identity issues in puberty
The Kinsey scale reflects this train of thought, that everyone has a little bit of homosexuality inside of themselves, even if they are straight. A person isn't simply "heterosexual" or "homosexual," but can be both, without necessarily being bisexual; the person could be mostly heterosexual with a little bit of homosexuality.
It's interesting stuff, and it makes sense. A lot more sense than the "Everybody's bi, they just don't admit" that I've heard before (not the same as what discordia's saying; these people say that everyone is bi their entire lives).

In normal circumstances I would probably have not responded but given the "variety" of people on this site logic problems typically tend to not be jokes, satire, or unintentional.

You can't be born gay.. there's nothing in your DNA or RNA that will confuse the opposite sex, unless you have some sort of visual dislexia where you "mix" genders.
You become gay by either psyche brutality, or cognitive dissonance.
You've been forced into something associated with being gay like rape, and like it.
Or, you meet a person with some of the same qualities as yourself or see a person. You decide that you must be gay too (because you're retarded at teenage and below age) then you keep on acting gay, and it becomes a habit and you turn out gay. It's like chewing your nails, after a while it becomes a habit and you do it without any voluntary control. same with being gay.

Actually, there are a lot of scientists who think that there is possibly a gene mutation or something to that effect which causes homosexuality.
Also, as Dante said, pheromones play a very large role in sexuality, and pheromones aren't exactly things that you can force yourself to be attracted to, any more than you can make yourself like the taste of a food if you simply don't like the taste.
Furthermore, I'm sure that if you asked every gay person in the world, he/she wouldn't tell you that he/she had been raped in a homosexual manner or that he/she was closer to his/her mother or father, or anything like that. That's some of the best evidence for why homosexuality isn't a choice, because in a lot of situations, it just happens.

You're right, sometimes it's just psyche brutality. but.. I don't think there's a gene mutation to becoming gay. When you start off as a baby, you don't know what "gay or straight" is. You don't know anything when you're a baby. Your chemical setup in the brain can't comprehend any information as much as someone might speculate; And even if the gene mutation builded up and only affected you over age, your body would most likely get rid of it or reject it unless you were introduced to the thought early on. I first learned about the term gay when I was a kid who just then started to masturbate. I did masturbate to gay porn, but I don't like men. it's just a thrill. that's probably all there is too it. People who are homophobic just can't masturbate to it. that's all there is. if you can't masturbate to it.... you hate it. lmao.
(and if I said too much.. sorry.)

I think that if you see homosexuality as a perversion or a fetish, then by definition you couldn't see it as naturally occuring. Not all gay people are mentally unstable or perverse; beyong being attracted to people of the same sex, they are the same as any heterosexual. I'm sure there are things that can make an otherwise heterosexual person gay, but with that sort of trauma, I think homosexual tendancies would be the least of their worries.
But you also can't deny cultural influences. I believe that it is possible that homosexuality can occur naturally in humans and other animals, but I also believe that not all homosexuals are so naturally.
Perhaps someone who isn't entirely homosexual can be drawn in by a culture seen as different and unusual, and because they feel different and unusual, identify themselves by it. We also live in a culture that, for the most part, doesn't allow for the blurring of lines in sexuallity.
Masculinity is one thing, being a duche just so noone will call you a fag is something entirely different.

I think it has less to do with thoughts and more to do with response. When a straight man sees a naked woman's tits, he doesn't think, "That looks good. I should feel good." The arousal is just a natural response to seeing tits. It's something that happens inside the person's body, regardless of thought. So, if a gay man sees a hard cock, he won't think, "That looks good. I should feel good." He'll just feel good. That's how he'd know he was gay. I think what some scientists believe is that the part of the body that processes these sorts of things is different, and that is why the gay person feels good when he/she sees the genitalia of the same sex. And that sort of thing couldn't just be "rejected" by the brain.
As for masturbating to gay porn but not being gay, I'm going to refer again to the Kinsey scale, which says that people aren't always simply gay or straight but can have qualities of both.

My personal belief is that being homosexual is something that is not decided by the individual, but rather by something else that he/she can't control. Reasoning? Personal experience.
I danced around with this subject for a while. At times, I believed that people who were gay were just born that way. Other times, though, I could not help but think that they chose that path.
One day, I thought that if gays chose their lifestyle, then I should be able to as well!
And I tried, I REALLY tried to make myself gay. Got myself a boyfriend. Did some lip-locking with him. I tried anal masturbation when no one was around. Heck, I tried to fellate myself. At one point, I started to share clothes with my best friend, a female. I wanted to be gay, I really did.
However, as it turned out, I just couldn't do it. No matter how hard I tried, something always seemed a little out of place. After I while, I accepted the fact that despite my best efforts, there was simply no way that I could be homosexual, so I slowly started my transition back into a heterosexual way of life, which prompted many of my friends to think that I was bisexual.
I get a hard time for this, but it's one of those things which I hope I'm able to look back on one day and laugh. But the point is I now think that being fully homosexual is not something that can be decided upon during the course of one's life. Be it genes or some other quirk of the mind upon birth, I cannot bring myself to believe that one can actively decide to suddenly become homosexual.
On the upside, I get to mess around with a lot of my friends' heads now. Call it the residual effects, if you will. Plus, there's this one girl who thinks that the fact that I might be bisexual totally hot.

i personally think its that gay people are born that way. i know people who are gay, and they just prefer the same sex rather then the opposite. its like this: me being straight, i like vaginas and women. a man who is gay: he likes men and the body and parts of other males. so whatever your sexual alignment is, i think it has to do with the way you were born. its just my opinion.

Just curious - why did you decide to be gay? Was it just for shits and giggles?

I tried to turn gay because I just got really sick all the females around me at that time. There were so many that used me or had no respect for me that I thought it would be better for me to pursue men.
Looking back, it was a pretty stupid reason, but at the time, it really seemed like a worthwhile idea.

Yeah, women can really suck sometimes. Never personally pushed me to try to be gay, but...different strokes, I guess.
...
No pun intended.

Gay people usually get alot of girlfriends at a young age 12-16 and then they realize they like men,So I say they choose it that way.

well. i'm not a gay and i dont think i'm a straight people.people are not born to be a gay (that's the reason why woman exist in this world). man <---> woman needs to complete each other (that's why there is marriage in this world).
i think.. people becomes a gay because there is a serious problem in his life. then someone comes to help him,and he's accidentaly fall in love with the ones who helped him. (if you have read Gravitation [manga]. similar case happens in there].
to be a gay is not wrong though. because you're the one who decided who you wanna be. if you cannot live with woman, instead you can live with guy, that's fine. just live and do what you want to do.
gay is not a weirdo. they're humans, same as me,and all of the people in this world. nothing can compared us to other and no one can think him/herself highly and looking down on other. (honestly. hate people who talking shit and looking down at each other than a gay)
that's my opinion. i'm quite busy now,i'll give other explanation later.

Let me just say this as a person who has 'gone both ways'
Your born that way, as much as I like to do something nasty to a woman, I get just the same ideas about guys. Hell, when I was just starting to get exited about the idea of doing something with my unit, I was equally attracted to other guys units, as well as the thought of girls. I was 10 then, I didn't understand, I didn't 'make a decision' I just felt that way. Hell I didn't know what gay was till I was like 15, but by then I had already known what I know now, I like both.

You are atttracted to who you are attracted to. Haven't seen a single male I've had feelings for but if it happens it happens. Until then, I'm fine with liking women.

I remember hearing somewhere that homosexuality was the result of an imbalance of some sort of hormone... Honestly I don't really care, people can be as gay as they want as long as they respect the fact that I'm not.

Let's say a your a guy, which is most of you guys. And you have this girl that you love in which you spend ever waking moment together. After a year the girl reveals that she once was a guy and she decided to get a sex change so he could date other guys.
Are you gay? I'd say you'd be partly gay or something...
I guess it would be toward more of the "appearances don't matter, it's personality" debate.
