heres how i look at it cartoon network killed a few shows.
Naruto, bleach a little and some others. but heres where your missing it most
of the shows killed where done by viz a Canadian companie there really the ones how killed them.
i well say cn has put on some really good anime with out killing it witch hunter robin, trigun, cowboy bebop, and 1.5 minuets of Elfen Lied
its not really cn's fault for anime being chopped up and edited to high hell in Amarica the governments fault. we have the most striked programing laws in the world. and seeing as how amarica is the middle ground for world tard this is what happens to good anime it goes to crap

one show that could pull off a long series is pokemon.question: what kind of meat do the people of the pokeverse eat?
answer: pokemon.
they eat their best friends. bad.
0
Not quite they actually eat both.
Example: They were talking about eating magicarp in a plethora of ways.
Example: Jesse and James were searching for clams and found a shelder.
*these are real examples*
As you see pokemon is never quite consistent so you can really never prove that they eat pokemon as food.

4kids is an instant death sentence.
Cartoon Network was the catalyst that made anime to the sub-mainstream category it is in the U.S. with weekday Toonami and Adult Swim.
The worst thing about Cartoon Network anime are the toys that they make to collect as much money as they can from the current hip-show -.- Zubuza sword and that hand-seal game from Naruto for two examples. But Cartoon Network is in no way a death sentence.
Naruto and Bleach just aren't that good -.- There are times where they only seem like rehashed stories of HunterXHunter and Yu Yu Hakusho.

That may have sounded intelligent, but it's you, Hibia. To someone like me, or perhaps Nikon, it was common knowledge. =P And people need to stop digging up my old topics.

they're toys based on shows based on comics. what's the big deal? you guys didn't have transformers or power rangers or teenage mutant ninja turtle action figures when you were younger?
oh, and rhetorical questions don't require answers, s'why they're rhetorical.

The americanization of anime can be good or bad. Though I traditionally love to watch an anime in its orginal Japanese acting with subs, I am moderately pleased by a good number of American voice actors out there. ADV keeps a good supply of genuinely good actors coming, as well as Pioneer/Geneon (until the @#$%ers pulled out!).
Naruto would have a better following in the US if it just wasn't for that damned irritating voice of his over here. IT HAUNTS MY DREAMS.

Everyone here at FAKKU should convince Adult Swim to only show anime with the japanese audio and with english subs and tell 4kids to fuck off and stop ruining everything that is good about anime.

As some of you may have heard, (from me) the worst thing that can possibly happen to any anime is for it to appear on American television. Think about it.[list]Examples
[*]Naruto would be a kick-ass show if it weren't on Cartoon Network. But because it is, people like me have to deal with the thousands of retards that flood MMOs and forums with Naruto-related names.
[*]Bleach... well, if Bleach were a good show to begin with, I would say that Adult Swim ruined it. But it isn't, so it wasn't.
[*]Naruto and Bleach hentai are now overrated. Take a look at our manga section. What is the highest downloaded manga? Fake. A Naruto Doujinshi. Look into our Anime Gallery in the image section. What are the largest galleries? Naruto, followed by Bleach.
[*]Merchandising. Clash of Ninja 2 was a decent game, but every Naruto game since that has been a steaming pile of Japanese crap. Bleach games, not any in particular, have all been horrible as well. People only buy them because they see the word "Bleach" and instantly think: "Lolol, if I buy this, I am teh anime g0dzorz."
[*]COSPLAY!? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! The most-worn outfits at cosplay conventions in America are Naruto, and soon to come, Bleach.[/list:u]
Opinions?
1. Naruto and Bleach are kinds of anime that aims for profit. the story was light and very common (about a hero wannabe or accidentally hero-ed). so that every people, even a 10 years old are able to become their worshippers
2. many OP's and ED's songs always changes. as far as i can see many of anime which has so many OP's and ED's song becomes popular (Conan,Inuyasha, etc). maybe it's the law of nature? but since i hate all Naruto's songs,well..
3. it's not only adult, but also children trying to cosplay too. it happens in my country and i hate to see the childern being the victim of an anime called Naruto. it's too sad
4. seriously,we've seen enough "Ninja" and "Samurai" before Naruto and Bleach appears so what's the different? what makes it more popular? even USA has Ninja Turtles.

How a show being shown to a wider audience can "kill" a show is beyond me. The goal of anyone writing or working on a manga or anime is for as many people as possible to see it. ANY ANIME OR MANGA obviously aims for profit. ALL WRITERS have to compromise artistic story telling to make a profit - if they don't then they are in a sense writing for themselves: artist masturbation.
If a show being popular makes a difference on the opinion you have on that show (i.e. hating a show because everyone else likes it or it has been "horribly" dubbed) well then you have a pretty sick sense of superiority over other viewers simply because you saw it "when it wasn't popular"
Guess what? the show hasn't changed, the writting doesn't change, and the themes don't change when anime gets localized. Only your perception changes because you are childish enough to hate the fact that a show that you once had all to yourself is now enjoy'd by millions.
It isn't the large number of fans that ruined the show, you ruined it for yourself by letting others get on your nerves. Or atleast that is how it is for the few whiners that start hating a show because of its popularity - which I know isn't anyone here right? (after all, you aren't stupid let others ruin a show for you, are you?)

Well there are variables that I think that make an anime becoming popular negative.
A.) Over-hyping. This is pretty easy to understand. After all, after all those rumours about that one show, you find out that you don't like it. The thing is, the more it is over-hyped and famous the more you might dislike it.
B.) Annoying fans nag you. This is more like fanboys/fangirls. These kinds of people exist in every medium. From video games(PS3 VS. XBOX 360) to books (Twilight), they are everywhere. For example, some PS3 fanboys get mad at reviewers if their favorite game gets a score lower than expected(instead of 10 the thing gets 9). The fans usually annoy the reviewers to the point where it becomes unplayable. This can be applied to anime too.
I understand that some people don't listen to what other people say about what they like. That's good, because that way, your view on most things will not be blurred or biased. Basically, recommendations for anything is a 50-50 situation.

Hardcore fans of ANYTHING can easily ruin it for others without even trying. That being said, I try to ignore all the Bleach/Naruto fanboys.

This is how I see it:
Popular series gets ported over the sea and in official English.
It's great as long as the feel of characters don't get totally butchered. The English dubbers are getting better at it now, a lot of times it's still a hit and miss thing (especially low budget ones). At least they're trying. Naruto gets an annoying voice cause in a sense he is annoying. The voice isn't done out of character, it just doesn't suit your knowledge of him. Lets not forget there's a culture gap, as long as they don't do what 4kids do and completely change it, it should be fine.
Yes the ecstatic fans are usually of the naive and immature bunch. Guess we can just grow up a lil and ignore them? It really shouldn't affect your view on the show.
I think the only reason why we would hate it so is cause of the fillers, or feeling of drag for more $$$. Look at bleach, it took 15 volumes for (you know who) to show his true colours and how much more before anything important goes on. I don't even know how many eps of Naruto fillers are out there. If you started watching during its unpopular era, you wouldn't even look at the dub and pass. I don't see it as a problem bringing it over as long as its just a dub and nothing more.
I'm sure fans from both sides can still talk about the show they like without any important things missing.
Oh and did he just bump a soon to be 2 yr old thread?

Well... in Germany RTL II is about the same I guess. As soon as something is airing there... well let's just say that I am starting to believe that actually most of the braincells of the average German kid / teenager die by watching the dubs.
Anyways, to the point: There are always overrated things. Be it when it comes to TV Shows, books, PC games, cars, boats, haircolors and the 1001 things more that spring to mind.
The thing that makes these things popular is a) the hype by the media b) the fact that people don't need to use their brains for it and c) the fact that it is terribly easy for the producers to put fillers into these kind of works.
But honestly, I am just glad that those kind of overrated things exist, so that the forums for the forums for the more interesting, but higher quality works, stay clear.
