If Hitler is considered "evil"..
then...
McArthur is almost evil (nuking Korea in mind)
Whoever US President authorizing Vietnam War is evil
Kim Jong-Il is evil
Because all of them share the same trait of putting their country to war for "the good of the people" while actually it is their personal opinion..
He is a bad man, but every war criminal (winner or loser) is an evil by their own rights..

If we're going to get into the fine details of the impossibility of an evil person, than no, Hitler was not "evil" He was a terrible human being, sure, but he was not motivated by pure malice towards the human race, he just wanted to gain power for Germany at any cost. He was twisted, clever, morally bankrupt, and charismatic... but he was not evil.

He was a man who wanted power over many things. He hated jews, despised them. So he just went on and killed them. He was a coldblooded bastard who only, well cared for himself, he saw jews, so he killed jews. basically NO this guy is not a good man.

There is no such thing as an evil person, there is only people who do evil things. that being said, Hitler was no person, he was a monster.

Hitler is not evil but he is one of the greatest liar and probably the most charismatic person.
Hitler was not alone in doing all those act. All the countries that participated in the war contributed
to its chaos which led to countless deaths and infrastructural damage.

There is a lot of rhetoric around Hitler, but I like to think of him this way. To Jews, he is EVIL! To Germans, he was good. To American's, he was the enemy. To me, he is meh. Well hes dead, so no I can't say he is evil but his acts sure make him sound like he is.. Hint, "America demonizing him*cough".

Interestingly his want for power was for the betterment of Germany after the humiliation of the Versailles Treaty.
Jews were a scape-goat as the reason for Germany's poverty they were deported from Germany but it wasn't fast enough for Hitler so Himler came up with The Final Solution ie. To kill the Jews.
Reading his autobiography it's interesting to note that in his youth a Jewish man bought his postcards and sold them. According to other sources though he got swindled by this man and this eventually became a deep seated anger towards the Jews.
Again anti-Semitism was rife back then, believe it or not there were people in the Land of the Free who also hated Jews or discriminated against them.

Short answer Yes. Long answer yeeeeeeeeeeees.
I believe he's evil simply because of the atrocity he caused. I personally don't believe that it matters if he's alone or not in committing his crimes. What matters is he caused and was a part of an act so sinister that it included the whole globe. Would it matter if the Americans killed a lot of Japanese? If the Russians raped a lot of German women? No, his acts are his responsibility alone and I believe he's evil for doing such deeds.

This is just from what I learned.
After Germany lost in the war they gone in to a depression, One day Hitler said hey look you at these Jews We'er suffering and they are doing just fine. We was once a proud Nation(sorry if thats wrong) These Jews are the reason why we lost.
He tried to take power from the goverment but failed and was arrseted years later he slowly works up the ranks till he can get the power then he sets his plan in gear. The people of Germany needing a strong leader followed Hitler's idea.
He used Jews as a scapegoat to take the blame for the war German lost, And that started the What we know as the greatest mass murder in history The Holocaust
Many people to this day don't think it's real, Me myself I don't really know been learning it and going over it too many times
So was Hitler evil? He was evil for killing thousands of people but he might have done it out of fear and the desire to have Germany become great again brought forth it.
Just a human looking to blame something other themselves cause the truth was too great to accept.
My apologies if this was unnecessary or wrong, This was just my thought and what I remember. Thank you and have a nice day.

[font=Verdana][color=green]I think we can all agree one on thing; Hitler was a great man. Sure, he was diabolical, but to get in that position of power in the short time he accomplished it is great.

Ok So I don't think it depends on what Hitler did and fact based things I think it depends on whether he actually believed what he was doing for the greater good..... Come on people just step out of societies view box and take a look around......

He was not evil.
The country was in ruined after world ward one and was suffering from a harsh treaty. Germany also was a country of pride and they thought they lost only because the politicians sold the country out (because of the excessive use of propaganda, they thought they were winning all the time)
Discriminating Jews was very common, I remember my history teacher told me that it happened almost anywhere in Europe.
The reason was very clear, the Jews were always have their own social status and follow very closely to their tradition and usually have no interaction with outside world and they are smart (usually rich) and so people always suspect they are running schemes etc.
Hitler was brought up with that taught. He became so powerful is because the country wants Germany to return to its former glory, with a powerful leader. He gained the original votes by getting the crowds which also hated Jews.
He was only doing what he thought was the best for the country, he believed the Jews were sucking money out from German people.
He reestablished the pride, reverted that unfair treaty, I would say after world war two, Germany was at a better position than end of world war one

So much nonsense I have to read here...
To answer the question most directly: NO.
Now without going into to much detail:
"Evil" is not an scientifically correct word. Was Hitler a sadistic misanthrope? Yes, but you will find even greater sadists and misanthropes in your neighborhood. Hitler was cared for by his mother as if he was a single child, because all of his older siblings died in childhood age. His father used to get heavily drunk and beat him up. Hitler was physically weak and traumatized, he had medical conditions and nightmares. He lacked personal identity, so he, as people tend to, became a greater-German nationalist, and conscripted for the first world war. After the war everything went wrong in his life. He was pretty good in drawing dead nature, yet he was not accepted into the university of arts in Vienna. He accused the Jews for this. This amounted even more to his political view and he became a politician. He devoted all his energy into constructing a political reality out of his hate. He didn't even love himself, he was the physiological contrast of "the Aryan". He also couldn't stand the view of people dieing and/or suffering. He never went to the front, even when one general tried to assassinate him, he didn't order his execution for weeks!
Hitler was not "evil", he was full of frustration and self-hatred, and his attitude of hatred dropped on fertile soil in the nationally-humiliated Germany. Many of his political steps and speeches were masterminded by Goebbels and Goering. Hitler was above average intelligence, but he was not a genius.
Himmler was the sadist behind Hitler. Hitler could only see dead people as long as they were figures on papers, but Himmler was a murderer. So you may ask yourself, who was the true "evil" behind Hitler? Who was responsible for ww2? Who is to blame, if you can't just blame it on one single guy? It was the German ruling elite, the industrials and the generals, and everyone who knew of it but did not prevent it. Hitler was psychically distorted, but they were fully on their mind.
The NS-regime was the only logical follow-up considering the German history and the global politics back then. It was not about "producing blond haired blue eyed people", but restoring Germany's "old glory". We have to learn that "evil" lurks within all of us, regardless of nationality, and that this regime, that seems absurd from the nowadays perspective, was quite plausible back then. How many of the top-managers today would kill for a career? How many would join the SS if they could?
I also want to add that saying that Hitler made an mistake by attacking the USSR is total bullshit. The German high command knew it would come to a war in the east eventually, the only other thing they could have done was to wait until the Americans arrive and fight a war they can't win. Instead they went for a seemingly "quick kill in the east", which failed. The Russians were responsible for 80% of the German casualties in quantity (personnel only), and 90% in quality (material). The Russians had a strong nation that was not prepared for war, and if the Germans waited longer, the Russians would have been even more prepared.
The American war effort in Europe was minimal. Apart from food, boots, and a few trucks that they supplied to the Russians, the Americans didn't really do much. When d-day took place the war was long over.

To be honest I havent bothered to read your opinions and please dont take this as disrespect, consider it laziness, but I have actually created arguments and what was close to a riot amongst some of my Jewish friends. lol... I actually have at one stage argued the possibility that Hitler was not evil and that the killing of the Jews, Gypsies, Blacks, homosexuals, so on so forth at the hands of the nazi's wasn't because Hitler was racist towards those people to the extent of genocide but because it actually may have served to increase military power. In my argument I stated that during the time Hitler killed these people within Germany before the main war began, (What I mean is basically 1940 or so and earlier) the killing of minorities in Germany allowed for total and unopposed power over the German people. Whilst Hitler already had power before this the killing of these minorities and the scape goat he created about Jews relevant to the German economy granted him complete power and assured the fact that there were no loose ends as such with which his reasoning could be opposed. The later killing of Jews throughout the rest of the war was essentially an error which caused him to waste military numbers because he didn't realize the fact that their destruction was no longer beneficial to Germany's war efforts. I went even further after this to say that Hitler was not originally evil as all this murder was done in order to protect and benefit his home and country which had a failing economy at the time and was not recieving help from the rest of the world.
Please understand that this argument doesn't fully represent my actual beliefs. It is just an argument I created for the challenge it posed. In short it may be possible that Hitler was not originally evil but that after he gained total power he became corrupted and his intentions changed.
Tachyon has far greater knowledge than I do of Hitlers earlier life and makes some very good points, most notably the fact that good and evil are merely words to describe a persons perception of another persons actions. The categorization of good and evil itself is rather flawed.

To answer this question one have to dig into incredible web of lies, manipulation and mistakes. Most of the things we know about him and his goverment(i mean the people) are pieces of info with very much altered ,,facts". He became the ultimate personification of pure evil. Everyone knows evil murderer Hitler..... My opinion: he was not evil, crazy at some points but not evil. He was just a pawn struggling in the web of half-conspiracies and consequenses of the events of the past. But all of this is purely theoretical because i didn't know him and never will.

I don't think Hitler was an "evil" person, I don't believe that "evil"(or good for that part) exists at all, he did what he thought was best and he went through with his believes, and admirable feat to be honest.
That being said I don't support what he did, he made millions of people suffer for decades, and he destroyed so much of what was, and could have been. I believe his ways were cruel and wrong, ignorant and more or less retarded in lack of a better term, but evil? No.
