Why Do People Believe in The Apocalypse?
0
I'd think they believe it, because of the fact that there is many different ways the world could end, easily. And they want to think something will come out of it

I think the appocalypse will happen, but not in the way we think. I think people are gonna go bat shit crazy, mass histaria and stuff like that, and some cult or something is gonna come up and deciede to do the 'right thing' and somehow launch a bunch of nukes.
But if not that then this little phylosophy: Everything must come to an end sooner or later, we just don't know when. Since we don't know, then I'm dreaming as though I'll live forever, but live each day like I'll die today.

People are fascinated with the apocalypse because we assume everything has a beginning and an end. We have a desire as conscientious beings to know our origins and our ends. The Mayans were obsessed with time, they used time to dictate just about everything in their lives. In the end, their efforts to seek guidance from the stars wasn't enough to save them from the destruction of their civilization. Maybe they knew it was gonna happen, but then again maybe they didn't. Personally, I only believe in the beginnings and ends from a subjective perspective, but not objectively. Objectively, the universe expands and contracts in a endless cycle.

It's stated in the Bible, Quran and other religious books. And cause of all the shit happening around the world today, they're becoming more sure of it.

Because the greatest lie ever told was printed and recycled over and over and it says so so we must believe it?
Personally my apocalypse happens everyday. When I wake up, I go outside, and see dumbasses everywhere getting worse and worse.

I agree. But let me offer an alternative.
Do you know when the world will end? When I personally die. I understand that the world should go on after I pass. But perception is reality. If my ability to perceive is gone (being dead and all that) then reality is also gone.
Hence the end of the world. This is true for everyone.

People see it as a way to escape their crappy lives, on the other hand we humans certainly have the power to destroy our selves so their is some reason to worry. Armegedon is possible for humans like 99% of the other life on earth but unlike the other 99%, humans are a one of a kind species. There has never been one like us so hopefully that could give us and edge on surviving.
All i know is if there is gonna be an apocolypse, it better be a ZOMBIE apocolypse :P

I don't believe in the Apocalypse. Well, not the way the Bible states anyway, with people being dragged to Heaven and non-believers to Hell for all eternity.
I believe in the world's end but it won't come for a good million years yet. Not until the sun dies or the centre of the earth cools

Forgot my safe word
The world will end when it ends. No one knows when this will happen, especially the Mayans. I refuse to accept that a culture that couldn't even predict its own destruction, could predict the end of the world. Let's face it, if you're an ancient stone carver, and you are told to carve out a calendar in stone, there is going to come a time when you say to yourself, "Fuck it! Let somebody else carve this thing for a while!"
I accept that the world is going to end, and probably badly, but I refuse to fear its coming until it gets here. There is enough fear in this world without creating more for ourselves. Enjoy the time we have on this world, or better yet - try to fix it if you can.

My theory is that it comes from a sort of genetic memory. things like fierce storms, volcanoes, and meteor showers can seem like the end of the road up close. all of those combined and refreshed through stories and exageration add up to create apocolyptic ideas.

This question is weird. Inevitably, believe it or not, the "world" IS going to end (that is, Earth will get destroyed or unsuitable for living). So believing it will isn't really wrong. BUT, that ending will most likely be many many MANY years from now (unless ofc we, the humans, destroy the Earth sooner, but that dun really count).
Why people believe the world will end? There are many reasons. Some believe it because of religion, other because they are easily influenced by pseudoscience. There is hardly any complicated theory behind it.
