Well I was just thinking to myself that the word would be a much better place without crime (I had just finished reading some horrible news story online and then that thought got me thinking...
Without crime think of how many people would lose their jobs... Think of how many companies/businesses would go out of business. It'd be horrible. So many fucking people make a living off crime (Not the criminals). If the worlds criminals just turned a new leaf one day it'd be horrible. All the police in the world would lose their jobs and a good portion of them would probably have to resort to crime to support their families. A crimeless wouldn't be that great IMO.
What do you guys think?
In no way am I saying I love rape and murder. Without crime the word would be a lot more safer but hella poorer.

Yes all your pointing out is the short term problems. I mean sure if by some chance crime disappeared people would lose their jobs (I would lose my future job). But the long term benefits would be much better No murder no rape no stealing.
Let me ask you this though what are considered crimes? Is a CEO firing his underlings to make more money a crime? Is the goverment not helping the poor or needy a crime? (just think loli fans loli’s a crime some places). So it depends on what is crime and what’s not?
But if we’re talking about stuff like this
Yeah the world would be a better place, but it’s hard to define crime so it’s a difficult question.

Seems like a pretty fucked up paradox to me, so long as the former cops don't resort to crime.
As for the people who make money off of crime, well that's just because they have adopted crime as a necessary part of society. If you can get them off the addiction though, then maybe there's hope for the world.

If there stopped being crimes, why would the police lose their jobs? We'd still need people to protect us just in case some asshole decided to commit a crime, and police do more than just busting criminals. If a child is lost (not kidnapped, simply wandered away and got lost), who do we call? The police. Saying that all police would be worthless if crime disappeared is like saying that all firefighters would be worthless if all lighters and matches disappeared.
And if the unemployed people turned to crime, how would it be a "crimeless" world?
Anyways, I'd rather have a couple of people lose their jobs (and get different ones) than have people being murdered and raped and such. At least the unemployed people would be alive and not emotionally scarred.

Better?
Sure. It would mean that the standard of living had gone up so high as to do away with the concept Need/Want, Have/Have Not. If anyone has read John Ringo's Council War series, something like the pre-Fall world would be in place.
But is it possible?
I doubt it.

theft isnt a statistic you can just erase from history, its an immoral action people degrade themselves by doing when it seems like the easiest solution to get to point b. would a hentailess world really be all that great? some people would say yes, but then you would be taking away our entitled amendments such as freedom of expression. thats what this conversations about after all, freedom.
aint it funny that when someone feels wronged or ridiculed that they'll state their freedoms proudly but then steal a dvd against federal law because they couldnt afford it or just felt compelled to own it free of charge? im not looking at the bigger picture here but i think you can comprehend my point.

Without crime think of how many new jobs would be made by allocating government money towards research funds, new sciences, medicines, education, infrastructure and city building ect ect ect.. If we lived in a world without crime I'm sure humanity could achieve very very great things in a much shorter span of time. Alas it will never happen.

Well, I guess it depends.
You'd have to say HOW the world became crimeless. I mean, if its from the unlikely situation that people, in one giant movement, stopped breaking the law, then yeah, for the most part it would be great.
But if It was through a cruel dictatorship or a government much like in 1984, then no, it would be awful. Its basically questioning which is better: safety or freedom?
Personally, I'd rather be free than safe.
On that note, a world with no crimes is also not a perfect world, remember. Like North Korea. A crimeless world would still be a world where people suffered, because the law oppresses freedom and rights: no crime, no rebellion, and no change.
Additionally, there are some stupid rules that people never follow. Here in america, your not supposed to drink till your 21. No one I know follows that rule (though Im not a drinker period), so in a crimeless world, one could say there would be a lot less fun...?
Regardless, I voted "NO", because like with other, more oppressive continues, without crime, there wouldn't be any changes for the better. America became what it is today through rebellion, after all. And its a decent place to live.
thanks!

A story comes to mind reading this post.
"Two princess are brought before their father the king, to decide the heir of the throne; one is a pessimist, the other a bright optimist.
The father brings before them a vagabond, wailed upon by time. He asks them: "What would you do with this man?" The optimistic son says: "I would leave him be, for surely his circumstances will change for the better". The pessimistic son says: "I would bring him into my home, clothe and feed him, then give him a piece of gold, for surely he will need it, as he obviously cannot care for himself".
The optimistic son responds to this: "But what need is there to help this man? Surely he will be alright by himself". To this, the court applauds in a roar, seeing this logic as best. The pessimistic son bows his head and says: "Would the court kindly grant me a favor? Would you all please bow your heads and close your eyes in prayer for this man?" The entire court does as asked. When they regain themselves, they discover the pessimistic son has killed his brother.
The king asks why he has done such a thing, to which the son responds: "You all were too caught up in the marvels of something better, that will not come to pass. You let the thought of my brother blind you from the truth, that we are at the mercy of our own actions, and did not even think I would kill my brother. If there is to be something better, then forcefully something must be awful first. With my brother dead, I will address the horrors of this kingdom as best to suit all needs."
The pessimistic son became king and his reign was known throughout all lands as one of fairness and righteousness."
If you read through that, thanks and congrats. The moral? There are MANY MANY things that the world could do without; famine, murder, rape, etc; but in a society there will always be conflict. A world at peace is a romantic dream at best, because all communities need SOME form of conflict in order to grow. We only learn by putting our hands in the fire. Perhaps a day will come when these acts will not be commonplace, but assuredly, other, perhaps even more heinous acts, will surely take it's place.
In order for peace to exist, conflict must be resolved. I short, a loop.
Cheers.

Think of of this way 90% of EVRY invention known to man has come from conflict. Even fire is in that group so without conflict (espicialy war) this world would be oh so different

I havnt really given much though to this but Ill go it off the top of my head . Well If crimes just stopped happening completely , it would be better then it would be right now because their be no more mass murders/rapes/terrorism/theft/whatever crime you can think of , but it wont be 100% better because im sure some people in law enforcment would lose their job due to less crime and such, but they could still make a living off other jobs too,law enforcement isnt the only good jobs out there, though I will say i think Highway patrols and street police would still be needed to pull over any drivers that might have a mistake with their car or something along those lines.

Yes, I believe a crimeless world would be great. Without crime, progress would likely jump up, because instead of wasting energy on stopping crime, energy could be consumed helping mankind itself, instead of it's dregs.

Thousands of security workers will be out of jobs, police forces is not needed...
Laws and good morals are not needed (everything's good anyway), life is easy without challenge or hardships, no sin, no need for hell, no need for heaven either...
No need to be a good person, there's no point in that...
Suddenly everybody becomes apathetic...
Without crime, it feels like the world is not living...
No negativity means no positivity...
Without crime --- bad guys, no need for good guys...
No need for anything...
Balance is screwed...
No need for God too...
And what about hentais?

even in world with crime, a.k.a our world, god is not needed. anyway...world without crime, huh? i don't think it'll be a cool world...cuz without evil people will lost something to compare themselves against, and feel that they're good. well, actually, without evil good itself will cease to exist, since both of them are just two sides of the same coin....
and lastly, say, the world starts out with evil, but somehow all evil is eradicated off the world...that would be great. but then again before long people will lose sense of morality and soon after, evil will be born again...
so, a world with only good is nothing more than an illusion of perfection to me...
or to quote avalon...
all is a distant utopia...
