Ok I agree why the Sakura hate? From the first time I played the game it was obvious she was the one. Or is everyone as dense as the main character in not realizing she has been in love with him and he is in love with her even if he is too stupid to realize it. Actually the Tohsaka end annoyed me most since of the forced H-Scene.I don't hate Sakura, and I honestly feel that she's the one who most belongs with Shirou. However, she's definitely not my favorite character in FSN. She's tragic yes and she had a rough time of it by a long shot, but she's the perfect wife type of character. All she did was turn dark and get saved by Shirou.
Rin did a lot more in all of the routes. That, and Rin's personality and character interest me more. Also, she was the Master of my favorite character in the whole VN and I adored her and Archer's interactions. I would have loved to see a route where they had some sort of relationship.
Or personally, I want at least a light novel going into Archer's past. I want to know who is lover was, there are things pointing to and not pointing to Rin, what happened to him in his life time, and where a version of him gets a Good End in the Fifth Grail War.

Don't think I'll ever understand the hate for Sakura, most of the time I someone hating her there isn't even a reason given just people calling her a slut and whatnot and then no explanation as to why, then again most of the time I see all the Saber fanboys I don't hear any explanation for that either.

Sakura didn't just turn black. She was the breaker of Shirou's ideals. Sakura was the pivotal turning point for Shirou in HF. The test whether he would save her and forgo her sins as the shadow, or bear the mentality of complete justice, the true balance of the scale in humanity which drove Archer to end himself and Emiya Kiritsugu into despair. In which it does show if you get the bad ending 'steel mind' in HF.

Even with the light novel going in mind, please remember the Fate route haha. If you remember it the way I do, Archer's lover was Saber since he became Archer in love with his own ideals of justice. UBW route granted a small portion of his life as World Guardian no? But it was a rather general story of the big picture of what Archer had to go through. I'd imagine you wanted a more detailed story of the more important times going through as World Guardian. About the good ending part. I'd say read some funny parts about Archer in Hollow Ataraxia, especially Lancer and him fishing in the Fuyuki Harbor.

In the anime, I've got to admit that I didn't like Sakura very much myself. In fact I thought she was really a stereotypical character with no depth. I could name a billion characters from various animes exactly like her. In the game, however, there is a lot of depth added to her character, and honestly she came out ahead of Saber in my mind (though still behind Rin) after I finished.
She's definitely not a slut.. who could expect to be entirely normal after... that upbringing? Really? She's one of the more realistic and imperfect characters that I've seen, and I was really surprised and pleased at the end of her route with how much I ended up liking her. Saber's was actually kinda disappointingly boring to me.
So... yeah, a little bit of Sakura love for this thread!

I wonder if some of the hate stems from people only playing the first 1 or 2 routes and never actually getting through the HF route to see how complex she really is.

I do agree about Shirou's annoying. But unlike you, Sakura annoyed me more and more as I move on. If it's not for my silly "read every single letter in a VN!" disease I'd quit HF.
