I'm appalled at the fact that you guys honestly believed Square jumped-ship to 360 with FF13. Let's look at the situation here: JAPAN's most celebrated developers leaves JAPAN's most celebrated consoles for an AMERICAN made console. Not only is that complete abandonment to the fans, but if it was true(thank god it's not) it would be considered one of the worst business moves this century. Don't let the hype cloud your mind people.

From what i read. Square is not even releasing a xbox360 version of FFXIII in Japan. Only in europe and US. None the less, we still dont know if Versus is still PS3 exclusive :3

I love Xbox fanboys. First they say they don't care about JRPGs and how it's no big deal that FFXIII is exclusive to the ps3. Then it comes to light that they are getting it as well in the US and Europe and they tote it as a PS3 killer and that people have no reason to own a PS3 now. This is proving my theory on Xbox fanboys wanting MGS4 all over again: They don't care about the game, all they care about is taking another exclusive from Sony so they can wave their epenis around.

Almost all comments I've read on this matter over the internet seems to forget the entire point of this announcement: the game. Or they seem to not understand that non-exclusive means it's coming out on BOTH systems(or think that because of one game everyone is just going to drop the PS3 and move to the 360). People are still going to buy it for the PS3 at the same time the 360 folks are depending on what system they own. And as for people who are still on the fence about what system to buy over the release of the next final fantasy... wait, are people really still basing their console buying on a single game? god i hate this gen.

Personally? i could care a whole lot fucking less about what system it comes on at this point. I want the damn game already. What i do care about in exclusives now non-exclusives is how much they are going to change or dumb down in the game or an even further wait because they have to spend more time making sure it works right on two completely different systems/formats. All in all though, the game it's self looks so far like it might turn out well and the videos look great so far.

But i give up. I've grown so tired of the shit from fanboys and the like this generation that i just can't do this anymore. Maybe it's a sign i'm getting older, but every time i read the comments on sites like Kotaku i swear i can feel my brain cells screaming out before being silenced forever one by one.

I honestly don't give a shit about any games on the PS3. The ONLY game I wanted on it was Final Fantasy 13. It has nothing to do with being an "Xbox Fanboy"; it was just a cheaper console. I was only showing gratification at the fact that I don't have to buy another console for one game. MGS4 (and all MGS games) can go suck a fat one. I didn't read anything that sounded fanboy-ish. I also didn't read anyone saying it would kill the PS3, just people saying it would effect the PS3's sales (the actual console, not the game's sales) slightly since there were definitely people holding out on buying a PS3 for this game (and if you don't believe that then...).

There are three FFXIII for PS3: 13, Versus, and Versus something. Only 13 is for 360.

Sony pwns it all. I don't care what Square desides to do. I don't know why people blame Sony for this news.

That is one of the reasons. Microsoft wants to import shit technology to Japan. Come on, it'll never work. Japanese know better.

PS will prevail. Nothing can stop Sony form staying on top, that's STAYING ON TOP, like they have for ages.

I'd think Square would learn after their major fail with FFXI for 360. I think they just want to make more money of off Microsoft. I'm sure it took some buck for Square to go and do a stupid thing like this. I couldn't agree more, this won't do neither bad or good for gamin inustry, expecially for 360. I'm sure every kid in Japan has a PS3 with FFXIII already, why would they want a 360 for?

But look at it this way; now owners of Xbox 360 can enjoy the FF series.

The problem is that the PS3 version of FF13 may not be released outside of Japan.

ill say it again, FIVE final fantasy xiiis. ffxiii, ff versus, ff agito, something of a cell phone game supposedly part of the nova crystallis production and i heard long ago of an untold fifth project, though thats up for speculation.

lets get over this console wars thing, i get enough of it in EVERY thread at game trailers. its going to effect ps3s sales because an outlandishly popular franchise has gone from exclusive to multiplatform. the games make a system, espicially the exclusives... losing one so important is going to have reprecutions on ps3 sales and microsoft knew it. i wonder how much they paid for getting the rights to that mother fucker, not like they dont have enough. and zero, i highly doubt the ps3 ff13 will be japan exclusive, its already old news that its going to be distributed world wide. no matter how many bills microsoft has its not going to deny sony location specific sales, i think im right in assuming sony only put some dough on a timed release for japan because thats theyre primary market.

They have not said that at all. They said at the conference that it is releasing at the SAME time as the PS3 version. I don't even see where it's been hinted that they would even fathom doing such a thing other than in the comments made by annoying fan boys on *insert gaming blog here*. The only reason it's not going to the 360 in japan is because 360 sales in japan are horrible. It would just be a huge waste of money for Square to take the time and port the game to the 360 in the Japanese market where it wont sell. It all comes down to making money, even more so for Square enix.

When wondering about the motivation behind the 360 decision in the first place, people need to look back on Square has been doing lately. I don't know where the article went, but a while back there was one that talked about some changes going on within the company because they are beginning to feel the financial strain of taking years and years to produce a single game and in the case of FFXIII make several spin offs at the same time. The PS3 just doesn't have the install base currently for them to make money on these projects alone. I should have guessed this was coming back then XD

if you can't read a post, don't reply to it. I never mentioned anyone on fakku, i was just generalizing the entire internet "uproar" over the announcement. I understand completely what you meant. There is even less of a reason for you to want a PS3 now that it has one less exclusive game. Good for you, you save the cash and still get to enjoy what might be a good game. I on the other hand only have a PS3 at the moment(same for me, right now not much on the 360 interests me that i can't get someplace else like the PS3 or PC) so that's what I'll be getting it for. We can all be happy.

I was quite surprised to hear that FF13 is gunna to be on xbox360, cuz I was ready to give up on playing the rest of FF series until later on my life. I own xbox360 and wii, I only bought wii just to play fire emblem and thats it.

I got all older consoles, i'm mostly an rpg gamer too bad nothing much good has came out =/ And halo series is only shooter game that I enjoy. Havent tried out gears of war, dun feel like it.

Personally I'm not a big FF fan (haven't owned one yet) however that is because I simply am not a turn based RPG fan (but love action RPG). However that won't stop me from looking over this one, due to that its available to me.

Personally, I think this is a stupid idea on Sony's part, as they're letting go another exlusive game that might persuade FF fans to by their console. I'm not saying that this will be the case, but if you have a 360, are a FF fan, and are not interested in the other titles for some reason, then it becoms Sony's loss.

Finally I don't really like Sony or Microsoft as companies, I just like the games that play off thier software and isn't that the point of gaming anyway? (Sorry wrote to much :wink: )

Lets see. How about reduced PS3 sales for people who now no longer require a PS3? Blind Xbox fan? Refer to my last post on what I think of that.

People who do not own a PS3 yet who were willing to buy one for Final Fantasy 13 will most likely not buy a PS3 now since they can get the game for Xbox 360. If you believe that will have NO EFFECT AT ALL then you are a fucking idiot. PS3 sales that Sony could have had (potential sales) have now declined (possibly severely) for whatever fiscal quarter (of whatever year) that Final Fantasy 13 will come out (in Europe and North America). Let me draw you a graph:



Obviously it may not be this drastic (and the numbers are just for the purposes of showing my point). I never said "Oh snap! This is going to totally kill the PS3!" because it's not.

I don't understand how saying that this would effect the PS3's sales (potential) makes me an Xbox 360 fanboy. I bet there were analysts that said the same thing; does that make them Xbox fanboys too? Just because I don't have a degree in economics or work as a market analyst does not mean that I can't have a guess at how it may effect a company's sales without being called childish names.

One thing I don't get is this: How can the NA and EU release of FFXIII on the 360 come out at the same time as the PS3 version? Square Enix said they aren't going to start work on the 360 version until they've finished the PS3 version.
