Final Fantasy versus 13 (PS3 Exclusive)

FF versus 13 seems better then FF13 in my view from what I've seen so far. The story from what I think it feels like seem more interesting. The characters also look more appealing to the hero image I have when I play a Final Fantasy game.Come on the guy has summoning swords.

You can tell that lighting is dynamically renderred in this behemoth fight. Its at night so the rest of the behemoth's body is pitch black, you can only see the face and the fore-legs because of the lamp post (which probably can be destroyed, rendering both of you blind xD)

thats the scenery in the game world, and thats a gas station right there xD graphics look beautiful to me atm, and they still intend to improve on it.

DISCLAIMER: screenshots shown above didnt have the UI shown or any party members. They are ALREADY in teh game, but square enix decided to remove the UI and party members and everything that wasnt previously formerly announced before the interview was held. Thus, the actual game would have more UI and well, party members =p

- BATTLES AND EXPLORATION WILL BE COMPLETELY SEAMLESS!!!!!! (awesome as hell, i know), but if you go from a major area to another, it will have load times, but its really good anyway. Tetsuya Nomura is trying to get the team to find ways to make it even more seamless.
- the world is open ended, where you can travel to everywhere you can see except for the mountains. Even if theres a set of stairs in a building or on the sign boards (where people use to replace the pictures on the boards) which are insignificant, you can just go up there for the heck of it, or for the view maybe ;D its THAT open.
-you can use a car, but its only limited to some areas, as the rest of the world isnt as developed.
- there will be an airship in the game that you can use in the open world.
- Battle system will be like Kingdom Hearts, but with a mix of final fantasy (no idea what that means)
- Battle system is said to be unbelievably cool (I assume thanks to animation and destructible environments)
- Environments are destructible (to a limit i believe)
- Game is being developed mainly by the KH and FF7: Advent Children team, with Tetsuya Nomura directing it.
- Party members will be AI controlled (possibly like KH)
- enemies are shown in the world and you engage in combat seamlessly, however, there are invisible enemies that do appear out of nowhere to ambush you (making it partially random battles too)

Graphics/sound:

- Thanks to dynamic lighting, environments and graphics will look SUPER realistic
- Places around the world will replicate real-life places, shinjuku is modelled in noctis's kingdom, and in a screenshot an oil-station in america (Dont ask me which, i've not been to america) was modelled in the game.
- Clouds will use real physics calculations (i assume smoke from explosions and fires as well, or it might just be limited to clouds in the sky)
- dynamic lighting means very realistic and awesome looking scenery and enemies during the night or sunset.
- Music will be done by: Yoko Shimamura, the composer for KH series as well as the earlier Parasite Eve games. I have high hopes for the music =p
- In-game graphics at the moment are close to cutscene quality, and nomura says that the team is fully focused on making it even better.

Character:

- Character designer is Tetsuya Nomura, who has been designing characters for Square since Final Fantasy VII (where he made a major success) and has been designing characters for all final fantasies since then; he also directed kingdom hearts and FFVII: Advent Children.
-Noctis Lucis Caelum:
--- Tetsuya Nomura stated that Noctis is actually a shy but kind-hearted guy. He tries to compensate for his shyness by acting cool (as seen in the trailer when he was talking to stella).
--- No, he isnt anywhere close to some emo boy that the trailers seem to depict, hes much more deeper than that.
--- can summon swords/spears/etc. Blue rune appears when he summons his weapons.

-Stella Nox Fleuret:
--- Will be the first heroine to stand out amongst all previous FF female heroines
--- Extremely wealthy, shes the heiress of her country, a princess.
--- Despite wealth and status, she is modest, kind, and polite; but she has a strong will and is very direct, a hint at her proper upbringing (I wuv her ~<3)
--- Seems to have the same powers as Noctis, but her rune is bright golden. Her main weapon is a flueret, a type of rapier.


Story:

--- Nomura stated, unlike previous final fantasies where the story focuses on the world, in this final fantasy, the story is more human. It focuses on the characters, their relationships, their emotions, their experiences, etc.
--- This will end as a tragedy, as hinted by all the shakespear quotes in the trailers (where most if not all his famous stories are tragedies). e.g: "There is nothing good or bad, thinking makes it so" a quote from Hamlet: Act 2, Scene 3 (if i remember right)
--- Nomura stated that this story will be somewhat like Romeo and Juliet. He joked that we will all still be crying about the ending 1 week after completing the game
--- Nomura also stated that he did not make the story a tragedy for the sake of it, its because it is the only way the story could be told. He doesnt want the gamers to regret playing the game ;_;

I've been thinking of geting a PS3 just for this game. I really hope they don't make it PS3 exclusive though. I've been waiting for this game to come out since FFXII.

To date Square has stated many times that this one will stay exclusive to the PS3. It's not that big a deal for me though as I have both. But I do like my PS3 more then my 360.

Uh..he can teleport AND make swords and lances out of thin air. If that doesnt get someones cool I wanna play it vote nothing will and they might as well go try to take the place of the grinch. Nuff said.

My friend did that when I bought Assasins Creed, GTAIV, LBP, & DMC4....but he gave me 13 movie bags of skittles and some tequila so I didnt mind too much. Coulda just bought me more skittles than that tequila, it sucks.

I thought it was not at e3 that FF13 will make an xbox appearance i could be totally wrong though.

FFXIII, but Not FFXIII Versus. Although I was really half expecting that Microsoft was going to announce Versus at E3 this year. XD

I don't know, originally I was excited about this, but now that I've seen some of the newer trailers it looks like a sausage-fest team of broody heros with emo hair. Not really my cup of tea. The game will probably still be good, but I'm not liking what I've seen so far from the characters.

Aside from the obvious crazy invisible sword fight sequence. It'd be hard not to like that.

After Square Enix took over, character design and conception has gotten progressively stranger and stranger. It's like you took a Mardi Gras party, a Paris fashion show, and shitloads of hair gel and used a massive blender to create one clusterfuck of some seriously strange (often terrible) ideas for characters.

I think the FF think tank has just about run itself dry, honestly.

ya how long ago was that? and then how many crappy games came out between then and now?
ffx-2... wtf, yuna dresses like a whore(what happened to innocent yuna?!), and the story has absolutely nothing to do with tidus, till the end where they magically bring him back to life, which makes no fing sense.
ff11... how the f is a mmo part of the main line of ff games, make it a side game a bunch of lazy asses, even worse it was utter crap
ff12... my friend warned me about adding too much technology into ff which centers around magic and the unscientific, but i said its a cool and interesting spin... but the game was crap.. constantly running, very poor(if any) character development, annoying main and side characters, nothing i haven't seen 30 times b4 with the whole "evil empire" at least square would always bring something new... the only girl i liked in ff12 was fran cause she was a rabbit, but that race was introduced first in tactics so you cant give creds to the f12 team.
as far as i see it and ever will... ff10 was and will be there last best(main line) game they ever made... i dont care if the battle system is interesting i play and always will play ff for the story's they brought me in the past, not some rehashed story i've seen b4
(a quick example of how 12 is rehashed, the main story is so much like the game cube/dreamcast game, skies of arcadia only minor differences in story execution and difference in the battle system and even then skies had a hell of a lot more story and character development considering you "mostly" moved around in a group of 3)

I definitely think this will be worth getting if not for the collection but because of what i'v seen and read so far it sounds like its going to be a great game, one of the problems though is that it only for ps3 (hope they change it) which I guess is understandable since FF 13 is on both and FF Agito 13 is on the psp.

Tetsuya Nomura is like one of the most powerful people in SE, he's basically one of the pioneer in the company. What he says is what the company does. He doesn't want the game on the 360, so it won't be.

Don't know anything about the great Tetsuya Nomura? The man that brought me FFVII and created Yuffie!

What I meant to say was that given SE's recent history of getting their games on the 360 as well as making a 360 version of FFXIII; it's hard to weird how they planned on only having FF versus XIII exclusive for the PS3.
