G-Senjou no Maou (English)

Admittedly I haven't even finished this game (on the last chapter for my first play-through) but this is game has already skyrocketed into my top 5 favourite VN of all time.

Mizuha route seemed really half-assed in my opinion. I liked the VN as a whole, but none of the heroines really appealed to me. The non-Haru routes could have had more meat to them too. I liked Sharin no Kuni, but G-Senjou no Maou felt way too similar. It makes me feel like the company only has a few ideas. Other than that, pretty enjoyable. I liked the male characters over the female ones, with the exception of Eichi.

PS - My favorite doujin game is Sengoku Rance, so I'm not complaining about the game for lack of depth or anything.

Yea I agree about Mizuha's route. It seemed like they were in a rush to release the game so they didn't really work much on her route. Probably the best side route in the VN would be Tsubaki's since it has more of a story to it than the other routes.

I meant that for each route there are some inconsistencies.
Maou is not thoroughly explained. How was his brother able to perform all those actions and during the time that he had those headaches? Why did he decide to become a criminal? Why is Maou really the protagonist during one heroine's route and why in another route he disappears without trace or explanation? It feels like it was patched up and redirected last minute... Just my opinion.

I heard that the other Maou only materializes in the final route. The other routes aren't canon and he doesn't exist. I think he was created in a way so that you could get a happy end for Haru. I personally would have preferred having a "Bad" route where you are insanely evil and can have a showdown with your "goody" archnemesis. It doesn't make much sense but I guess you just assume they are different stories.

The ending for haru rouge is really excellent. I like the scene when he's under interrogate then he resolved himself and think seriously about how to leave haru out of the picture "that totally cool". He put a lie based on the some truth in it and even if haru is questioning what he said is the truth for the most part except what he really thought about her. Conclusion; the main character is really deserved to be the protagonist for the story. The END ~ very satisfying ~

Maou's identity is revealed in Chapter 5 which was revealed that he was Kyosuke's long lost brother who was thought to be dead. And there is a Bad route where you are somewhat evil.I think it was someone's route where if you choose to do her, it leads to a bad route where you kill her close friend and then you die.

So what I meant to say was that maou's existance could be kyousuke for the non haru routes. Once reach act 5 they create kyouhei and he retroactively replaces kyousuke as maou. If you think about it like it is an alternate retelling then the story makes a lot more sense for non-haru routes. Kyousuke's headaches and memory lapses at key times aren't really explained that well with Kyouhei's existence. While it is feasible, it is awfully convenient that Kyouhei never does appear in the first three routes.

This is the most epic VN. I cried on the ending for like 30 min, Haru route anyway. I can't bring myself to read anybody else's route now x.x I fail, I'll feel like I betrayed Haru. I think her ending can come close to Fate Stay/Night's Fate route.

I have mixed feeling on this one

Honestly, its a beautiful game, it had me on the edge on the dramatic points plenty of times. The ending was nearly executed flawlessly

BUT

Why in heavens name did they have to break Knox's first? The instant the mentioned Kyousuke had a brother i was "no...please no"

Does this game happen to have a harem route?
