I tried out the beta weekend and couldn't really get used to the combat controls, I must have been doing something wrong.

Is there anyway to attack and move to the target just by left clicking? From what I understand, for melees, you'd have to double click the target and use WSAD to walk next to them in order to attack. The camera scrolling (a,d) also felt really slow for me.

Someone enlighten me please =)

You can press "r", i think that's the key, to auto-run straight.

Melee's usually have a gap closer skill, so you can use that. Turn off "stop auto-attacking when changing targets" too.


If you're close enough, you can just press "1" and it will auto-attack the nearest mob. Then press tab if you want to target the next nearest mob.


If you don't like using "a" and "d" to move the camera around, use right click.

Also, are there any solo servers if I'd like to keep this singleplayer as possible? (kinda like in GW1 with heroes?)

There's no single player server. The best you can do is not group with anyone and treat PC as the heroes in GW1.

There's a stress test later today at noon pacifc.

I meant more of when the game goes live, I'll be on the GoM server.

I haven't tried GW2 yet.

Also, for "singleplayer", isn't it possible just to create/enter an abandoned server?

Yeah, there's multiple servers. You can't server hop because of the PvP system.

It'll be hard as it's an open world and an abandoned server means the game is dead or failing.

Why can't we server hop? How do I change when I want to pvp?

There's a server vs server pvp mode, so you can only play on a single server.

If you want to pvp you just queue up for it. PvE and PvP are separate.

I need to check out the specs, but I'm interested in it. But putting down 2000 in bills is kind of a kick to the junk for august. huehue.

How long is the beta today until? I'm going to buy it today and log on Gate of Madness, but first I gotta finish setting up my new laptop and install the client, which could take a few hours.
