Yeah I'm gonna get the game then start a guild and conquer a city. Then the game will make a quest to kill me and my guild mates. It'll be awesome. Any one want to join my guild to be?

I've been keeping my eye on the the guild wars 2 stuff since it was announced, and wrapping up titles in the first Guild Wars. Guild Wars 2 is going to be amazing.

Does anybody have anymore info on the release date? Weekend Beta's are fine, but when are we getting the official release for people like me who don't like to preorder and enjoy queuing in front of their favorite game store?

Was kinda wondering what the advantages of pre ordering were, other than being allowed to play during beta events. Is it cheaper or something? Or maybe early access?

Can't wait for Guild Wars 2 ;as it'll be my first guild wars game, back then I didn't have the money to buy it. Already pre-ordered it after much thought and recommendations, I actually had to skip buying diablo 3 for this.

They're also going down the P2W (Pay to win) hole by allowing you to sell in-game the gold you buy with money, so even though I wanted to try it, I'm not going to anymore, nor recommend it to anyone.
Sad. No MMOs worth playing out there.

I really want to try out Guild Wars 2, but at the same time, it's going to be region-locked. It's hard for someone who's from the US, but works over-seas to play GW2.
I was SO looking forward to playing this game too. :(

Care to explain how this is P2W? As far as I know they do not sell power for money either way (I didn't actually check the store when I played though), so your point appears to be invalid.

Didn't they specifically say you can guest in other servers and even transfer for a fee if you want? At the the very least I could play on either US or EU servers during both beta events I've been in so far.

Are they doing that?
Awwwww maaaaannnnnn, this was going to be so nice and they went and put a paying system in.
Whyyyyyyyyy?
Oh well, I'm playing this for the roleplay, so I'm hoping they won't kill it and stay in PVP with that.

It's not like I can't play on different servers. When I buy my copy from the US, the copy won't work in the EU because of the region-lock, and visa-versa if I buy a copy of GW2 from EU and bring it back to the US.
If I can by-pass the region-lock, I will be able to play the game on all servers, but the only concern for me is that I don't want to buy 2 copies of the same game for the sole reason of regions.

Wasn't aware of that part. Still, it appears they're looking into a solution for that also.

I've seen an announcement about that system in GW2 some time ago, unless they changed their mind (which I doubt), this is the system that is going to be used. I have not played the first one so I don't know about that.
And it is P2W because it is the same as "illegal goldselling" on many other games... With the difference that it is completely legal and official, obviously.
So basically, if you can, you can buy a lot of those "gold" with your real world money (which has nothing to do with the game itself), sell it for money in the game and buy anything you can with in-game currency that way, thus having advantage over those who can't or won't do this.
You know, this sort of thing is illegal on other games for a reason... But lately companies have been all starting to go the P2W hole one way or another, and those who remain safe from it (Like WoW), are bad MMOs for other reasons, such as unbalance of the game itself, and others.
Even if such a thing would not make such a huge unbalance, I'm not going to support a company that willingly breaks their game balance.
