Halo is a poorly-made game? What world are you living in?not Bizarro-World, where the people who think Halo is good are living in
remember I did say the first was good for its time, it's just dated now, and ODST had parts that were good. im not trolling, i'm just stating the truth sorry you can't handle it.

People who hate Halo just hate on it because it is popular. They are no different from the other trolls out there that hate pretty good series. Halo is not the best game out there, but you can't deny it is pretty good game.yes this explains all the popular series i enjoy because they're also actually good

Halo 1 was masterful, Halo 2 was a great game but with a horrible ending, and Halo 3 was a massive disappointment in terms of the campaign, but had the best multiplayer. ODST's campaign was better than 3 hands down, and the multiplayer content justified the price tag if you were going to use it; the children on Live, however, drove me away a long time ago.
Reach has a better engine, but I have to wonder about the story considering the regression in tact through the main games. That they've decided to ignore the (reasonable) book based on this planet really doesn't bode well, although the most interesting aspect will be to what extent they implement squad mechanics. There is a lot of potential there, so long as it is actually tactical and not dumbed down for the preteen audience.

That's the thing; I'm worried that by 'squad mechanics' they mean giving you a set of invincible marines. The way Bungie did a Jar Jar Binks with the Arbiter, fucked the voicing and character models and completely removed any sense of grandeur in H3, I don't know what to expect.

trolling would mean i'm just saying what I am to get responses, and don't actually believe it
I truly do think bungie is one of the worst, most inexplicably successful developers in the business

I cannot wait for Halo: Reach to come out this Fall. It is going to be awesome yal.
Here is the links to the Trailers yal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewwTu-1_V24
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ha4nFm-sgcg&feature=related
(This is the E3 '09 Trailer.)
Also the weapons from the old halo Games, will have a new look, and new sounds. And there will be new weapons such as the Neddler Rifle, which is more destructive then the Neddler itself.

I don't know. I haven't really been following it. The only thing I like about Halo 3's multiplayer is the lack of camping compared to other popular FPS's online *coughMW2cough*.
I'll probably get this, but I might not right away, maybe once the price drops. Although, being a Halo title, that could take over a year.

I was originally a Halo player, but the overuse of grenades made me switch to COD, Halo is a much better game in my opinion, but there are problems with it, I dont ever die to just one person in Halo 3, there is always at least 2, so im hoping Reach fixes some of the problems Halo 3 created

I won't touch on the multiplayer as I'm always against it. (All I ever played was SWAT), so here's my take on the campaign...
I don't understand why they couldn't just go by Nylund's book. He is a great writer and his novel perfectly set up the entire Halo universe outside of the game. He took all the pieces Bungie had lef and formed them into a cohesive story.
Now Bungie comes in with their Infinity Ward/Epic Games attitude of infallibility and throws all that to the curb. Y'know Master Chief, John? LEADER OF ALL SPARTANs (It's the truth, in an engagement involving all SPARTAN IIs, John had lead), yeah, not only are there other SPARTANs commanding on the ground that AREN'T Fred, but one or two of them are full on Officers, a station no SPARTAn save Kurt has ever reached, and eve that was because Kurt was declared MIA and joined ONI.
Not only are these SPARTANs out of whack in terms of rank, but NONE of them even existed beforehand. I haven't deemed it worth my time to check, but I'd wager that if you checked their numbers, they either weren't in the right range to be SPARTAN IIs, or their number was already used by Nylund. But hey, who the fuck cares, it's just Bungie raping a great story. Y'know, because they've been so good with their original plots over their past few games...oh wait. /rant
Umm, in terms of actual gameplay...looks fun. I'll probably rent it and be 'that guy' that tears down every aspect of the game even though he's playing it.

^this. They were probably worried that if they came out and said 'it's going to follow The Fall of Reach', it would come across as 'go and buy this book', and people might bitch about originality if it was to the letter (or conversely about any deviations from the plot). Would have been done in half the time, too...

The way I hear it, they're supposed to be SPARTAN IIIs instead of the SPARTAN IIs that the Master Chief belonged to. I have to admit that I prefer Bungie taking their own route with Reach instead of following the books to the letter. Either way, I usually don't get too picky with the story on video games so long as it's still fun to play. For example, I'm enjoying playing Just Cause 2 because the game is fun, despite the fact that I could personally phone-in better voice acting and write a better story while on a bender.

All SPARTAN IIIs are dead except for Tom and Lucy, and no SPARTAN III teams that were trained would be old enough to fill out a middle-aged frame anyway. I'm not saying that they should haven followed to novel to the letter, because SPARTAN surface action was brief, but at least make it interweave with the pre-established universe, especially when the book itself is canon.
The story matters for Halo because it has developed such a rich universe for itself that it should have an at least alright story. Just Cause is also a terrible parallel to this. A better one would be something like, ummm.
What if Modern Warfare 2 (which apparently passes as a "good story") suddenly said something like: "Zakarov was really Jamaican and the Russian ultra-nationalists are just angry potheads. Mexico was the center of the new world war and an Army General lost thirty-thousand Marines when a nuke blew up....that's MARINES dying under an ARMY general (last part actually true)
People would get angry (maybe) because it doesn't keep in line with what is known to be true.

I hope they don't do like they did in Halo 3: ODST with the skulls. I thought I had to explore each level completely to find the skull. But what did I find out, I have already earned them. I hope they hide the skulls like they did in Halo 3, and have the players go and find them to use there awesomeness.
