Even before I had badge 2 I had all 3 Kanto and Kalos starters and my dex was over 150....

Everyone in this thread needs to exchange friend codes for trades and O-power leveling. (As much as I like giving it to passerbys, I prefer to give it to friends.)
After you beat the game, you get access to Friend Safari, which generates a place where you can catch 2-3 specific pokemon based off some magical wizard algorithm per mutual friend. The pool it picks from is enormous, enabling players to catch stuff from practically every generation, including Kalos region starters. These pokemon have a chance to be caught with their hidden abilities and have at least one perfect IV stat.
Anyway, mine's 4484-8916-0166. Will be monitoring plenty.

As for starters I already got, hidden ability does sound good, but I could also try my luck at breading, since I hear that now the male can pass the hidden ability on. So essentially I can get a lot of pokemon with hidden abilities, since the torchic comes with it.
