People are asking for a Ditto from Friend Safari because Pokemon that are caught there are guaranteed to have at least two IVs of 31, and that's insanely important in a Ditto.

No one ever uses a Ditto in battle anyway. It's all about the potential of breeding competitive Pokemon.

Isn't a speedy ditto with imposter holding a choice scarf somewhat viable?
As far as I remember from the time it was Serebii's Pokémon of the Week, the nature doesn't matter since it will always have the exact stats of the copied Pokémon (except for HP). Item bonus to speed will work, though,

I did that to one of my Pokemon to get them to be high in Special Defense and Attack after playing with them. It's a great way to EV train but it takes a long time. It is quicker to just battle and put on the bands you get at the Maison.

Well, no.... the only difference is we can see the EV stats this time. As you move though the game, all your Pokemon get the EV stats depending on what Pokemon you faced though battle. Like Pikachu has 2 Speed Value. So everytime you beat a Pikachu, you get 2 Speed Points added. If you want to fill up the Speed Points, you need to keep battling ONLY Pokemon that give Speed Points added. Any other points you give to the Pokemon and you can't fill up the speed points to max them out.
Doing Super Training is just one way to EV train. You CAN do it and EV training has opened up to more casual players.

So I've learned a mess of stuff about breeding now that I've gone into the madness that is trying to get a perfect Froslass waifu. (Which I still haven't acquired because HAs, eggmoves and natures keep dropping my pool quality down)
1. Friend safari will only produce hidden abilities if that friend has beaten the E4 and logs on while you are online. (It only needs to check once) It will also unlock the 3rd pokemon in the safari.
2. While male hidden ability breeding does work, it only works across evolutions instead of egg groups (Think starter chains) of the same pokemon and with dittos. Subsequently, a ditto with its HA will never pass a hidden down to a non-hidden ability pairing. Basically, speed boost torchic is not a free pass to hidden abilities, although you can get near infinite speed boost torchics.
3. Friend Safari pokemon can get up to 3 perfect IVs. You can get these with pre-E4/Post-E4.
4. Destiny knot increases the number of passed traits from 3 to 5. The traits are still randomized, so it doesn't matter who you put the knot on necessarily.
5. Power items to not prevent destiny knot from double-dipping into stats, so even with two opposing 5 perfect IV partners, you still have a chance of getting an offspring with 4 perfect IVs instead.

Precisely. If it also copies the HP then it would be very good indeed. Unfortunately, it does not. Given its pathetic HP, it essentially becomes a gift to the opponent to switch in with a setup sweeper if the Ditto is scarf'd.
Maybe there are innovative ways that can make Ditto viable, but I personally don't know of any...
