Production and Sales of Rape Eroge Banned

I am quite surprised that no one has brought up this particular issue on Fakku since it is one of the most widely discussed topics recently.

To make a long story short, it all began with Rapeplay being sold outside of Amazon.co.jp, prompting feminist groups to lobby against rape eroge. The broadcast station TBS had jumped the gun earlier by claiming that rape eroge has been banned, although there was no concrete proof. After an emergency meeting held by EOCS and the various eroge companies, rape eroge is officially banned, although regulations on what is considered acceptable and what isn't has not been worked out nor finalized.

My fellow Fakku members who are fans of eroge, what are your thoughts and opinions on the above development?

Even with a ban, there are bound to be plenty of loopholes that some companies will slip through in order to circumvent the rules, so I doubt that this is the end of rape eroge. That aside, it's not like I need rape in order to enjoy a game, so I don't really care that much. My only concern is that this might be the start of a slippery slope. First rape, then bdsm, who knows where they'll stop? God forbid they put a ban on games with a Yandere theme.

ugh. i can see more bans coming...but seriously, banning yandere would suck. no more pure cuteness like kaede would mean the end of the world...

anyway, i'm against the ban. the same reason i'm against banning loli, that is, it's not real. so they better learn a bit more about reality and fiction first....

and don't think that i like rapes...i'm against it. but...if that floats their boat, let 'em be. as long as no one's rights are violated.

mini-rant: damn, with all great problems like famine and terrorism unsolved, they can still find the leisure to put up stupid drama....about eroge. it's game, dammit. no one is raped, for universe's sake!!

Since you asked, Gambler, I'll take the liberty of answering. Hopefully nobody jumps on me for expressing my opinion, in few words.

I am against rape, real or not. I realize that it is a drawing, but in all the years that I've lived, I have never fapped to a women being raped. And that's something, because I've fapped to some weird shit. But viewing rape for pleasure is, FOR ME, morally wrong. However, I am open-minded and can understand why people may like it.

But I don't support it & dont mind the ban.

Rape is just not my thing. Never has been, never will be. I don't particularly think this one specific ban will affect me, but I AM concerned that western feminist groups have become such a nuisance in this world as to affect foreign policy.

The real point isn't the ban of eroge because of rape, it's the future of gaming that is the real problem here.

Banning Rape games in assumption they "promote" more rape is false. It is shown that in Japan, the home of eroge and "bishoujo games" their Rape count is ten time more smaller than in the USA and Canada.

If we ignore this "issue" other gaming genre such as GTA, L4D, Counter Strike, War Craft, will be probably banned because they "promote" violence and crime. Even RPG games will surely meet their fate at banning because they "promote" killing "animals".
Even Mario can't escape, because the game "promotes" stomping and kicking at turtles.

And this problem will surely will come in contact with literature, art, movies and anything that has a really sensitive subject.

We all know that people are going to find loopholes and exploit them for more rape eroge, so I don't understand why they wasted so much time trying to ban it. And, as far as the numbers show, these rape games don't convince people into raping others.

And I can see these groups trying to expand on this ban of rape games to the extent of attempting to ban any vulgar material in literature and videogames.

When it comes to rape in an eroge I am more or less okay with it, when it gets extreme and aggressive I disagree thou there really isn't such a thing as good rape due to the definition of the word, but I guess if I was a women, I wouldn't wanna walk out on the streets, or spend time out with friends knowing some of the guys around us may have played or have lots of Rape eroges, but that's just an dramatization these groups like to use as examples, but what it really boils down to is once someone's arrested for rape the guy needs an excuse to cover his ass so he has to blame something, and the media need to report something, this is a quite similar to the attacks that shooter games get.

Don't really know what "eroge" is. Actually, aside from Futari and loli, I don't know what alot of these terms mean. Yet, I know that anime porn(Hentai) + RAPE = $$$
-Instead of banning cartoon rape, why not use it the way I think it should be? To me, the idea of simulated rape with animated characters can be a way to re-wire the brain OFF of real life rape scenerios.
FACT: the repetition of anything is one of many ways a brain is brainwashed (commercials...seriously).
ALSO FACT: pornography is very dangerous if used incorrectly. If a boy/man is exposed to (and masturbates to) a type of porno for a long time, the man will grow to accept the imagery as erotic.
-Thus I think a psychological study should be done. Rapists, or rather those who are likely to commit real rape, should be given violent Hentai on a daily basis. By separating the act(RAPE) from reality (mind you, this would take a while), the subject could then be moved to less violent, more playful forms of Hentai, thereafter slowly switched back to regular old porn. This might be a slow but effective way to re-wire a sex offender's brain.
--As for the ban, come on! Hentai rape is a HUGE industry, so don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon.

We're talking about banning a H-game, not Hentai rape.... did you read both news from the source...

Rape game well still be made. they well just work around the EOCS ban just like they do with loli Eroge. or thay can just release the game with out the EOCS permission like a Doujinshi game that doesn't need EOCS permission. The EOCS ban is not law.

This ongoing ban of rape in games has always made my blood boil a bit. I think of it this way, I am in no way supporting rape but banning it seems a little harsh.

I also don't support blowing people into gibbs, hacking some one's arms off, jacking every sports car I see, the bullying of children, selling and distribution of drugs, kidnapping, child abuse, road rage etc.

See where I'm going with this? The majority of the things i listed above could easily be found in the many games we have out today yet the fail to manipulate most (there's always that one =P) people into doing any of the things listed above. Usually it would be related to a mental problem or maybe something along the lines of drugs.

As we can see in Japan, for the past years that Rapelay has been out there hasn't been a skyrocket of rape occurrences in Japan and it still remains one of the smaller %'s we see today.

But mostly i'm getting off at is about how this women's group in America was able to influence something in Japan. It blows my mind how they could somehow create a ban on such things.

I'll be honest, I've played rapelay and it wasn't my cup of tea, apparently it wasn't these women's either but that doesn't give me the right to demand that they stop making and producing rape games. I mean, i may hate my neighbor's music but i don't go over to his house and bash his radio in with a bat.

So all in all, all I'm trying to say is this, "Minorities(Women's Group) shouldn't be able to influence the majority when the majority (All us eroge/doujin/VN readers) have no say."

Okay, it's a fair cop. I didn't follow the link or simply Google "Eroge" for time's sake. That's a brain fart on my part. I still like my idea, but it belongs in another thread.

Anyway, as for the ban itself, I can (this time in regards to the thread) say that if the ban isn't on the genre, then the ban is bullshit. If it was on the genre, it would be a more understandable kind of bullshit. Either way, any kind of ban (unless it involves real-life material like racisim, snuff porn, etc.) is bullshit.

Though, despite rape not being a fantasy of mine, nor a turn on. It doesn't bother me if other people enjoy playing those types of games or anime/porn. As long as they don't act out on it.
