So for series, I just lumped them together cause this isn't about which Resident Evil game is the best.
This is what game scared the hell outta you, made you jump, turn the lights back on in the room, kept you looking over your shoulder, and made you get up and have to take a break from the game.
Post another game if I missed your scariest game... (I shouldn't of missed it though...), and post your scariest moment.

Silent hill for me, no question about it. I loved most of the other choices, obviously resident evil and doom. But those are more action, Silent hill is just...completely fucked up. I also can't help but wonder what the people who make the games are on to come up with this kind of stuff. My personal favorite in that series would be the 3rd. Siren I was never able to finish since at the time I simply rented it. It's a fucking huge game, but it's well done. There's also fatal frame that's not bad.

Games don't creep me out the way they once used to, and few ever got to the point where I needed to stop playing with the lights off. The only one that ever really did it for me, was the first Clock Tower for the psx (snes version was kinda silly). Great little story, multiple fun endings, and a villain that truly needs more attention. Or he'll cut you.

What's clock tower like? Is it like Haunting ground?
Edit:
Oh, now there's one that's not on the list...lol oh well. Wouldn't have selected it even if it was there.

This game is rather simplistic in its design and execution, probably not quite as fancy as Haunting ground, but definitely with a similiar interface. It mostly involved you puzzling your way out of some location while trying to avoid being scissored to death by a man able to pop out of even the smallest spaces.

BioShock
Left 4 Dead
Doom
Half-Life
These are the only games I've played from the entire list XD Trying to find Silent Hill though, seems like a lot of you reccomoned it.
Bioshock: Scary? nope, never got scared watsoever during the game
Left 4 Dead: Scary? Nope, I enjoy shooting down some zombies XD Though the Witch gets me by surprise sometimes. (and with the amount of blood on the wall after being taken down by one I'm suprised I haven't died of blood loss)
Doom: Scary? not exactly. It's more surprising. Though there are scary parts invovled. I remember one part (don't know exactly location) I come out of the elevator and see 2 orange lights in a dark corner above some boxes. I know they are always on the wall but those 2 are way closer. I don't move, nothing happends. I take one step closer and I hear a soft growl and the lights fall down. I investigate but find nothing at all. Did that part 10 times before I gave up what it was but it freaked me out for a good while.
Half-Life: Nothing really scary here. though "Ravenholm" did send chills down my spine.

Doom 3 was scary at points, and Bioshock took place in Rapture which was a creepy morbid place.
And people can vote for Half-life even if it is just for Ravenholm.
I don't think alot of these games I post are going to be serious contenders for THE SCARIEST, but some people will still vote for them.
And man, up your scary game repitore :D

For me, it would have to be the Silent Hill series. Usually, you play the role of a normal person, not some special forces operative or well trained individual. It's the fact that you don't ever have a really good means of defending yourself, besides running away, that really sets it apart from other games of the genre. I wish the Clock Tower series would be a resurgence thought, as I miss them alot. That and Fatal Framw as well.

I haven't played all of the games but the ones that I really liked and thought were the scariest would have to be resident evil and doom3 but doom3 was just a bit more scarier.

I don't know how many people played condemned, but I remember having a sudden adrenaline rush when I had to fight off a homicidal clown wielding an ax with a toliet seat. Then I smashed his head in with a fire extingusher.

Fatal Frame most definitely.. The only game that made me feel like I had to take a break from it due to the amount of scares it had, the only one ever. I've played every game on that list as well.

FAtal Frame Hands down...
That game made me give up playing it alone...so I finished Fatal Frame 3 with my friend.
Blowing up zombies is not scary, mutated animals and monsters is not scary..
But trying to "kill" a ghost, spirit by photographing them... now that's scary. and to make things worst you have to point blank photograph their face for extra damage and to save films.
And Eastern Ghost is just plain scarier than bloody zombies and mutants... :)
GUYS PLAY FATAL FRAME NOW.

The only game that scared me a bit is Alone in the Dark due to shockers, when there's thunder strikes. Silent Hill too if I take it seriously. Resident Evil is probably least scary since you're controlling a police who's well equipped, not to mention, they got training and outmatch those too slow zombies.
