I'm honestly shocked that Fatal Frame is losing to Silent Hill. Also shocked that Clock Tower isn't on the list. The original Clock Tower for the SNES was horribly terrifying, even with SNES graphics.

Yeah, I'm still kicking myself for not putting clock tower on the list.
But as for Alone in the Dark, the only thing scary about that game was the amount of glitches in it. My characte would fall through the floor or I'd get stuck in the graphics. And the game froze alot.

I have, and I personaly prefer the storylines and gameplay of silent hill over Fatal frame. I've yet to finish the 3rd and I got stuck somewhere late in the first. 2nd one I was able to finish, really creepy and fucked up ending in that one.

If you finished normal, that's just getting a bad end.
Try nightmare lol, the ending is way better but non canon.
Since in FF 3 they both are presumed dead.

Fatal Frame, no gore, no blood but super scary. They really know how to condition the mind of people into the state where everything that comes next would totally affect them.

Let's go down the list:
Condemned - Never played
Resident Evil - More Action than scary
Dead Space - When I first played it I turned on this option on my PS3 that made the game much darker than it was supposed to be and I only realized it after I got to level 10. Without that little darkness option the games not that scary.
Fatal Frame - Never Played
Silent Hill - Never Played(I played the demo for silent hill 4: the room and it scared the shit out of me, but I was younger)
Manhunt - Never Played
Bioshock - Some of the game is pretty creepy but the shit that fucked with me the most was the statue splicer.
Siren - Never Played(or even heard of it)
Jericho - Never Played
F.E.A.R. - Bad graphics don't scare me(I beat the game this very week)
Left 4 Dead - Never Played
Eternal Darkness - Never Played
Doom - Doom 3 was fucked up when I played it for PC and was wearing headphones in some internet cafe. Scary shit.
Half-Life - Favorite shooter ever, but not that scary at all.
System Shock - Never Played
I'm voting for doom.

Yea I know, I read that on gamefaq not long after finishing it cause in my mind it had to be some sort of bad ending and I was like "wtf did I do wrong to get this"...then I read the ending faq and I was like "oooooh..." lol.
Sadly I don't have it anymore. Still got the 1 and 3 though.

Since some of you have been saying how scary fatal frame was I thought I'd go onto youtube and check out some vids of actual gameplay/cinematics. At first I kind of thought it was corny because of the whole taking pictures of ghosts, but when I saw the vids it turns out that unless you take the pic you can see the shit going on. I lol'd at the people's reactions when they played the game just hearing them screaming and yelling wtf wtf. Anyways the game does seem pretty scary but I'm gonna keep my choice of Doom3 being the scariest. Playing it all alone with the music on high and lights turned off scary shit happens in that game, everywhere you turn something is bound to jump at you lol.

I getting mad playing Doom 3 because of all the creepy monsters jumping out at me, I just wanted to kill them all. Somewhere in the back of my head I must of thought that they'd leave me alone if I killed them all.

Resident Evil (Zero to 3 only though). The series lost its horror aspect and turned into an action game when Code Veronica came out. Resident Evil 4 was just the final nail on the coffin.
The first 3 games were scary as hell. The first one was revolutionary and holds a special place in my heart (mostly because it was the first PS game I ever played).
Here's a short list of reasons supporting why the original games were scary as hell:
- Crimson heads
- Lisa
- Tyrant
- Hunters
- Cerberus jumping out of nowhere (that always gets me)
- Zombies popping out of closets, freezers, you name it.
- Lickers
- NEMESIS
- Leech zombies
Man, good stuff all around.

Aw Azuran...come on! I mean Resident evil 4 and 5 yea, I agree it's totally different and people might not like it but code veronica? I disagree. But, to each his own.

silent hill did so much. it had the right atmosphere. the plot is unique, i think the last few have been a low par. but still scary. now dead space give you alot of the same things, there just amplified too really make a scary game, that any horror game fan will love. EA did a really good just on its production. sequel is so obvious. =}

I've seen a sample of Doom 3 on tv. It's not only creepy but shocking as well unlike Silent Hill. Not to mention, the guys screaming there are big soldiers and scientists in lab coats.
