For me it would be:

Chrono Trigger
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Suikoden II
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Tales of Symphonia
Valkyrie Profile? (forgotten if it was an rpg)

I don't know how but i got about 300hrs on Symphonia :shock:

Final Fantasy (The plot and world is a lot deeper than most people seem to realise.)

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

There was one on the Sega Genesis that I played a long time ago (obviously), and since I was only about 6 or 7 at the time, I no longer remember what it was. I really enjoyed it, and I think I may have put it on the above list if I could get a chance to play it again.

Those are the only ones that I thoroughly enjoy that I can remember off of the top of my head. I would list more, but since the question is "The Best RPG Game You've Played", I cut out the ones that I "like", and only the ones I consider the "best" that I've ever played. As you can see I'm not a huge fan of newer RPG's. RPG's started going downhill for the most part once they went into the third demension.

ps. how in gods name was fallout not on here earlier? o and to add others to the list baulders gate 1 and its addon sword or mystic coast dont remember which ps. i dont play that many console rpgs past psone other than personas ff titles and odin sphere(yes it counts)

Golden sun 1 & 2 (GBA) definitely, as well the Wild Arms series. Oh, and Evolution: World of sacred device (dreamcast!).

Personally, I thought the second game was much better compared to the first, excluding all the bugs. "My fist and your face are about to connect" is one of the few phrases I learnt from the second game. :)

Getting back on topic, has anyone else played or heard of the Quest of Glory series? The first (VGA version) and fourth installments can be considered two of the best RPGs I have ever played. Till this day, I can still hum its key theme.

None of these were in a particular order except for Xenogears which I've played at least 4 times and at this point the music from it will trigger emotional responses from me. (Which can be confusing when I don't notice what's playing)
