What hero(s) do you use when you play warcraft 3 online?

Be it reign of chaos or frozen throne, what hero(s) do you use when you go online vs other people?
When I started to play with the undead I used to go with just a Death knight. Then after a few months I started to use the Lich for his ice armor ability, ranged attack and equipped him with an orb of corruption ASAP. But I've grown tired of the DK because in all the game's I've played he's probably the hero with the biggest bull's-eye on his head. I've since started to use the Dark ranger for her dark arrow ability, which does additional damage and if the unit who's infected with a dark arrow dies, it's corpse becomes a skeleton warrior. With that, I defeat low level creeps, mass up a few skeletons, then go after red creeps. This is all within the first nightfall..whilst with probably any other hero or species for that matter, that would be suicidal. It's also turn the tide of rushes. Either we get rushed or we rush the enemy, that ability has saved matches, I swear.
Also, her silence ability can literally turn the tide of some battles. If a human or NE goes for mass spellcasters strategy, silence completely fucks them up. No spells= useless casters. It's also saved my ass quite a few times with some of the other hero's lv6 ultimate ability's like the shadow hunter's "big bad voodoo" or the priestess of the moon's "starfall". Silence, and their ability is stopped..not to mention the HUGE cooldown they have for those lol.
So for me, my number one choice is easily the dark ranger, backed up by the lich afterwards. Only thing that sucks from this switch is losing the DK's "unholy aura" ability.

When it comes down to those heros, I usually go with something that can either add more troops (Like keeper of the grove or Far Seer), or something that can disable the enemy units for a bit (Like Mountain King Storm bolt, Entangling roots [KotG], Shadow Hunter Hex [Gotta love it]). Normally I play Night Elves so, its usually Keeper of the Grove or the Priestess of the Moon (for the Aura or the Owl Scout Ability).

Pure Human player here. Depended on my enemy and what strategy I predicted, and my teammate. Most of the time I played 2v2 with an orc, and we would start with Archmage and Shadow Hunter combination on those crowded maps, with hex and water elemental on first priority. If I was to rely more on my own, I went with Paladin first - not taking the bubble above level 1 until very late into the game. With the Mountain King usually being my second choice after the Paladin, and the Paladin being the second choice if I would go with the Archmage first, I'm not too fond of the Blood Mage.

i just can't stand it with humans...you've got to build so many goddamn farms with them, cause each one only gives 6 food, while the other classes get 10(ziggurats, moonwellls and burrows).

Those are not necessarily bad points about humans - they're cheap and built fast, therefor you can easily adjust the food as to not spend uneccesary resources for the time being on it, and can be used as not-so-meaty "meatshields" for more important structures. If you really need that food fast, you can assign several workers to the same job to have it done in a matter of seconds. It's great, and whenever I had a game as one of the other races I was missing my human building and resource gathering system. I sadly can't get too much into detail on the whole matter, seeing it's... ages since I last played melee on WC3, and I don't got all that theory talk down anymore.

Depends on the race.. But I usually play orc... I put tauren cheiftain as my first pick... AoE stun + Shockwave = most ground troops dead or in the red zone... then I pick Blademaster, Shadow Hunter or Beastmaster depending on the situation and allies I have... if game drags on long enough I use Pandaren brewmaster...

What I've seen a lot of orc players do is get the BM first, harass a little, then they get the shadow hunter as their second hero with the first ability being hex. So what I just do is silence the BM, since usually the shadow hunter's still lv1 and the BM lv3~4 and if the BM can't do his windwalk, the player usually panics and tp's out...or doesn't realize it till it's too late and I kill his BM ;)

I find that BM harassing tactics to cowardly and although they can annoy the hell out of your opponents, It's not to useful mid to late game... unless your build with BM is Mirror Image, critical then your bound the get good results mid to late ;)

Bumping this, but for good reasons. I know that a few of the new users talk about warcraft 3 so maybe they'd also like to share their tales. What I've recently begun doing is re-using the humans, which I haven't done in like a year lol  Anyway, I get the MK first, with footies+defend. If they rush, defend can make a huuuuuuuuuuuge difference. Then later on I get the AM with water element and start massing knights.
I love knights because of their fast move speed and attack, so if I see some wyrms or chims nearing me I can run away before they attack me. All w3 players know that wyrms and chims have average movement speed while knights move fast; result? I outrun them. Then one of my teammates comes in with rifleman or dryads or sum aa and I focus fire on hero(s) with my army ;)

If you want to play, I'm a amateur league player, I do standard stuff that pros do, of course not nearly as good.
MK is the most fun hero to play, especially first. Nothing like good bolt surrounds to make your opponent rage :D.

I haven't played Warcraft III in a while.
I like using Orc,Night Elf and Undead. I don't like humans. >.<
When playing Orc I usually pick Tauren Chieftain. For Night Elf I pick Priestess of the moon and for Undead I pick Lich.

Haven played for a long time, so i write only RoC ones since i rly haven't played much regular TFT nor i know the exact tacs for them:
Humans (don't play with them, almost at all):
Mountain King 1st (Pala 2nd and mb Wizard as 3rd)
Orcs:
Far Seer (2nd Tauren Chieftain)
Undead:
DK 1st, Lich 2nd (D&D ftw).
Night Elfs:
Depends, sometimes PotM or KotG first. KotG has healing spell as ultimate which roxx; PotM has Starfall, that's awesome. Sometimes i take DH as well, Methamorphosis ftw =P but it's usually the 2nd hero if i take KotG.
Anyone wanna play anything with me on WC3 sometimes? D= im rather bored with everything.

You can test it out yourself in an offline game. Make a chimera and a huntress, for example. Use cheats and fast build to test this out.
Now, put your hero right next to the huntress and start attacking your huntress with the chim, you'll see your hero's HP dropping with each attack, hence, chims do friendly fire damage and it irritates the hell out of me whenever I play online and one of my teammates says "I"m making chims"

Hmmmmmmmm......
I prefer to fight strategically so i use Goblin Techies I know its easy to neutralize its bombs but even if you have a gem you end up being dead.
Windrunner good for killing escapees in a clash.
Broodmother good tower pusher

I have no idea what you just said, strikegunner, so I'm going to assume that what your talking about is a DOTA game?

here in our country warcraft 3 goes with DotA.

I guess I should have mentionned that in the OP, I never played any DOTA games, and I probably never will. I've been playing warcraft 3 online for over 2 years, I've gotten so used to the units/heroes that if you threw me in a special, arranged game with different units and rules, I'd be totally fucked up.

I dare anyone to play warcraft 3 reign of chaos campaign....that's right, BEFORE all the patches that made the game playable and everything made no sense.
I mean, holy shit...for example: All heavy air units; chims, gryphs, wyrms and wyvs, all had piercing damage. Drayds were virtually useless back then, and heavy armor was weak to piercing damage...are you kidding me? A freaking, small rifleman does more damage to a tauren??
Wow, I'm so glad things have changed since
