Does this mean the wife could sue the cheating woman (and her husband) for the same amount?

That's an...Interesting title. And that description, too.
"I'm not trying to split you up"? Well it certainly seems that way.
...Really, in this one, it's hard to feel bad for the husband when it's just his fault to begin with. If anything, I feel bad for the wife. She does all this so that they don't get stuck with crippling debt.
That ending though. Well, I suppose that much would be obvious. She may deny it, but she does enjoy her time with the guy..."Why do you sound so happy when you talk about him", eh? I'm pretty sure you know the answer to that, man.
"Hopefully he understands how he made me feel now"...Those words. Somehow, he probably almost has it worse, since rather than a divorce, his wife still sticks with him...But by that ending, I don't think their relationship will ever be the same again, so in a real sense, he might go through what the divorced guy did, with a wife who would (most likely) cheat again after the 6 months, which might end in a divorce.
What comes around goes around they say, and this circle of cheating/divorce doesn't look pretty.
