Title aside, they may not be married yet. I checked every panel and didn't see either one wearing a wedding ring. Maybe "wife" is figurative or hinting at what's to come for them.

Never good sir. I usually don't read tags before the chapter, so I assumed long distance meant cheating in some way. Either the wife was away and he got a substitute or she was fulfilling needs while he was away. In the end I don't understand the living arrangement. Why must they be apart if he works from home?
