Personally, I really enjoyed the ending to 5 Centimeters Per Second because it didn't have the typical get together ending. Sure, it would've been nice if they did but then the message of, not everything in life is going to work out the way you want it, and the ability to learn how to move on, would not have been that strong.

Totally agree. 5Cm per second has a sad ending but it's a complete ending not an open ending, so yeah it's all good!
