I am always pleasantly surprised when all the ugly tropes are absent from the storyline. This scenario could have been exploitative, abusive, or manipulative but it wasn't! I don't know if there will be a sequel that changes any of the implications but right now this story is fairly coming-of-age and relatable, with characters chasing (thankfully) shared urges. The age differences and slight power dynamics notwithstanding, the story told is about satiating frustrations and tensions. Our female characters aren't naive victims or unwilling participants but very self-aware and assertive while our male character, typically a predatory asshole in these scenarios, is an honest and even considerate guy checking every consensual box there is. This book proves that the stories don't have to be ugly in order to be sexy. Matsuka has staged and drawn a very hot, multi-character narrative and I look forward to reading all their books!
