(This post stars: Amaiya Madeko, Toudou Yurika, and Ichinose Kaede.)
“Alright, it’s time for our final candidate for the day!. Entry number #444, please come to the stage!” The announcer called as he motioned his hand towards the stage, signalling the crowds to draw their attention towards it. It was a long day. The curtains were finally to come to a close, but one particular person was left in the waiting room who was just coming out.
Madeko didn’t know if she was waiting for this moment or not. She wasn’t particularly nervous, but she tried to not let excitement overcome her cognitive ability, especially when performing to such a large audience. There’d been at least more than 50 participants before her, while she wasn’t noticing any one of them, she was also thinking about how to stand out from the rest. Her appearance wasn’t anything special either, it made Madeko look like she was a last-minute candidate. She wasn’t the little bit bothered by it though, although the fact that she was the last candidate for the day, she could see the audience was partly tired of a long day of observing people. She knew she needed something to liven up the mood.
A thought quite untrue. Albeit logical; the audience was always thirsting for more – the performances weren’t all so bad. The interviewing was never so boring, especially with the judges there to entertain the crowd through the exchange of words itself. They weren’t there for show.
Getting up from her seat, and taking a few moments to straighten her clothing, Madeko proceeded to the stage. Despite her efforts to remain calm, Madeko cranked her way up the balustrades to the stage, like a rusty locomotive; receiving a late, awkward applause from the audience, further enhanced by the echoes generated by the auditorium, addressing Madeko:
“So… I’m Amaiya….Madeko. H-Hi there.” Madeko couldn’t stop fiddling with her hoodie and her eyes kept avoiding that of the judges’.
Before the judges could speak, the announcer asked, “please tell us about yourself!” He probably felt her nervousness from the podium at which he stood; yet took up the chance to challenge it.
Madeko hadn’t prepared a introduction for herself, nor did she know how to, so she ended up doing more †˜uhs’ and †˜ums’ than she could handle. “Um… I’m-- oh, already said that, uh… I’m thriteen this year… um, yeah- I don’t have anything special about me that would make me... stand out, so I’d implore all of you to bear with me, my uh… mistakes, and I apologize if I did not meet your expectations.”
“What are your hobbies?” Yurika asked, trying to help her to introduce herself further. Nervousness was something she was well-acquainted with due to her past. Every idols, or idols-to-be needed to overcome it in any way possible. The proud vampire knew this.
“Well, I like to eat, and, um, sleep, I guess. Oh, and I love music and singing… more on the music part though. I think… er, I forgot when I first started singing, but I think it was quite a long time ago... I think it’s natural.”
“That’s great, what’s your recently favorited song?” Kaede asked, trying to get to know Madeko more. It’d be appreciated by the two judges if she was more direct and less rigid, but it couldn’t be helped.
“I guess… well, the last song I was listening to before I came here was Kiramekirari,” Madeko tilted her head, hand on her cheek. “I do have many favourites, but this one is on my most played list.”
“Hmm, that is quite an old song, isn’t it?” Yurika mused, looking at Kaede with an expression portraying her bewilderment. She couldn’t put a finger just how old it was. However, she had definitely heard of it before. It wasn’t particularly of her taste, but it was not too bad.
“About two years old! I found it while researching on the Japanese culture from America. It’s a nice song,” Kaede explained. Indeed, Kaede had the hobby of researching on the Japanese culture as her parents and their business had Japanese culture related to them greatly. For which Kaede’s curiosity got the best of her when she looked into Japanese information as a young child. As a †˜super’ idol of America; Kaede had been in many places of the world and is known to be both wild and energetic – but after certain events, she settled in on Japan for now.
“I see,” Yurika noted, then looked back to Madeko. “When and why did you start to want to become an idol?” One of the questions mandatory for the judges of the Nationwide Audition Caravan. Yurika was rather tired of asking some of these questions over and over again. Albeit the questions themselves are legitimate, Yurika wished she could rephrase them.
Madeko stood still. She realized she didn’t want to become an idol because of a burning passion or anything, but still she had to say something. “Well, this may sound like a dumb reason, but…” she took a while to contemplate, while receiving blank stares from the murmuring audience. “I...want to break free from normalcy, and stop being weak. Well, um-- I’m not from a well-off family, or a family that dotes on me, or a place where I can easily make friends. It’s only been so recent that my family has broken up, leaving me and my mother to fend for ourselves… my brother and Dad want so much to do things by their own.”
“So I guessed I, um, could also go out alone and do what I wanted… to start a new life, away from going with the flow to setting the stage. That’s when I started to stumbled upon videos of Hoshimiya Ichigo performing. To be honest I wasn’t amazed, but it seemed sort of interesting how everyone had fun and not a single atom of negativity was in the air of the stage… so before I knew it, er, I was suddenly searching for tickets to her concerts.”
“That’s fine, I suppose. Finding a meaning in life through becoming an idol doesn’t seem so bad,” Yurika admitted, while her reasoning to become an idol was different, she could understand the notion from simply listening Madeko pouring out her emotion, an ounce after another, each and every second; she was completely honest. Yet something felt strange, as if there may have been more to it. Regardless, it was not her place to pursue it. But to not find Ichigo’s performance amazing… is she blind or just apathetic? That kind of a performance is hardly possible for even a vampire like me!
Kaede nodded, flashing a smile. “Alright, your feelings have shown through. May you find your new self through this career. However, we have one last question for you; what do you think is an idol?” This was a sure-way to ascertain a girl’s motive and want to become an idol, and what path they’d most likely lead down if they ever succeed in the audition.
Madeko thought for a bit, but answered relatively quickly. “I think… an idol is someone who shares her own happiness and joy to others, a star that shines where there is none, a writer whose stories are told through songs… someone I want to be.”
The announcer simply smiled to this. It was a good answer. “Then, Amaiya-san, please show us your performance!”
“Please bear with me once again,” Madeko smiles, knowing that this is the last performance the audience will watch today. “I’ll show you what I’m -really- made of!”
Is it really alright to not ask why she chose our academy instead of Dream Academy? Well, not that is really matters, I guess, Yurika silently shrugged to herself.

(This post stars: Toudou Yurika, Ichinose Kaede, and Tadaima Hiyori.)
The location today was an auditorium hall underground. With air conditioners and various lights filling the space. One would wonder if this hall – too – would be spiced up today. The pair of judges were already sitting in their place behind the table; awaiting the idol candidates.
It was the 18th of April, Friday.
“This is the 6th day of the Nationwide Audition Caravan held by Starlight Academy! And today, we have: Toudou Yurika-chan!”
The limelight fell over Yurika, as she waved her hand towards the camera from her place. “Be grateful, for I, Yurika-sama shall be judging tonight!” Yurika said with a daring tone, despite the fact that it was still the daytime – which the announcer silently ignored as he was aware that it was part of Yurika’s personality.
“Next, we have Ichinose Kaede – the popular, Super American Idol!” The announcer’s hand flung towards Kaede.
“Hi! I’m going to judge the girls here today!” Kaede spoke casually as she raised her open fist to the air.
“Alright then, without further ado, we shall now begin!” Soon, many girls performed on stage in the venue after the announcer said this.
“The passionate Aikatsu performed here today is almost as hot as the Underground Sun, wouldn’t one say?” The announcer clearly referred to Minowa Hikari – indeed, countless girls would have to perform in order to heat up the underground halls before matching the level of the energy she exudes.
“Now, moving on, let us call the next person, shall we? Entry number #222, please come on stage!”
Hiyori looked around the crowd for the next candidate for a moment before realizing that she was the one being called, smiling sheepishly to herself. Her favorite orange sundress and sunhat seemed very simple amongst the crowd of aspiring idol candidates as far as ensembles went. Taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, she walked up confidently to the judges with a beaming smile on her face, or she tried to. What she didn’t expect was the clapping noises of the huge crowd as she went up, sending her nerves aflutter once more.
Noticing her pale face, the announcer tried to see if she’d introduce herself on her own. After a few seconds, he decided otherwise. “...May we know your name?”
Hiyori smiled rather nervously, not as sure of herself as she’d like. “M-my name’s T-tadaima. Tadaima… Hiyori.” She bowed slowly, all the while trying to rein in her composure. “Please be.. k-kind to me.”
“Ooh, does this mean that your name really is Tadaima Tadaima Hiyori?! This is new!” Kaede said with much excitement.
“That can’t possibly be… even vampires don’t do that,” Yurika said, slightly disappointed – both at Kaede, and Hiyori for her obvious nervousness. The spectators laughed out at the exchange of words.
Hiyori blushed deeply at Kaede’s reply, the double meaning glaring at her. “Tadaima i-is my family name.” Oh, the embarrassment! How she wanted to crawl under a rock and hide. “It’s a.. bit u-unusual so people sometimes g-get… confused.”
“Unusual? Are you from the countryside, or the rural areas? Outskirts?” Kaede asked. As she had a very outgoing personality, she was always to keen to know about the different places of the world.
Hiyori smiled and nodded vigorously, “I’m from a town not far out from Sendai… It’s a nice sunny place, good for growing crops!” She was a bit puzzled by the last word Kaede said, but was very glad to have something to talk about to alleviate the nervousness.
“Ooh! Crops? Are your parents farmers?” Seemingly curious, Kaede asked. Despite this, she was actually trying to uncover her details casually. A rather impressive feat when its against a nervous girl on stage.
“Yup! They grow the best produce in these parts.” Hiyori said proudly, “I help them man the store when they’re too busy!” She wondered if these idols had ever experienced the joy of harvesting freshly grown crops, the feeling of satisfaction after a good batch always made her smile.
“Wow! I’d love to check it out one day!” Kaede felt satisfied with how her nervousness was blown away as she replied.
“What’s exciting about that… ? Only a servant or something does those things,” Yurika said, clearly disinterested. “Well, is there anything you specialize in, let’s say in… dance, or singing?”
“I’ve sang and danced at our local festivals year round,” Hiyori said thoughtfully, giving a little twirl on the spot, dress flaring out. “I’m not very good at it but I’m going to try my best! And… specializations… does brightening up everyones day with a smile count?” She flashed both judges a megawatt smile as she said so.
“Oh my, you’re so full of energy!” Kaede praised.
“U-Uh, yeah… ” Yurika said, reminded of certain idols’ smiles. “Anyway, why did you decide to participate in the Nationwide Audition Caravan, when you could also approach an agency, or the Dream Academy?” This was a question that needed to be asked to pretty much everyone; because they wanted to ascertain the girls’ reasoning. Not that they thought girls would have invalid reasons; but to reconfirm the popularity of Starlight Academy – and what the girls liked about it. Dream Academy is the rival idol school in the industry, and it welcomed most girls with open arms – unlike Starlight Academy.
“Bringing smiles to peoples any way I can makes me happy, it’s a simple dream and I want to share it with the world. besides, being an Idol is so exciting! An agency wouldn’t do any good for that, and Dream Academy…” Hiyori sheepishly poked her fingers together, “I’m not very good with gadgets… and they seemed so… techie.. Ahaha...”
“Hah?” Yurika seemed puzzled, yet irritated. “Are you saying that Starlight Academy is old-fashioned? I’ll suck your blood!” Clearly, Starlight Academy wasn’t any less behind in technology, they simply didn’t use computers and its statistical measures for training all the time – not that Dream Academy did so all the time; only Saegusa Kii and Otoshiro Seira were known to do such extensive trainings. Starlight Academy has its fair share of holographic images and technical items that Hiyori probably can’t make head to toe of.
“Ahhh, no! Please don’t suck my blood!” Hiyori cringed away from Yurika, using her sunhat as a pseudo shield. “It’s not that Starlight Academy is old-fashioned, Dream Academy just has too many computer thingies for me! I’m afraid I’ll break things cause I’m no good with them.”
“Now, now, Yurika-chan, calm down. Okay, then,” Kaede patted the angry Yurika who forcibly removed her hand from her. Kaede would explain that Dream Academy isn’t the only place that can use computers at this age and time, but this would distract the main aim of the interview. “So, why do you want to be an idol?”
Peeking out from behind her hat, Hiyori replied with no small amount of trepidation. “I think it’s amazing to be an Idol, to be able to sing and dance to the whole world. I attended Ichigo’s concert and… her performance was spectacular. She motivated me to become an Idol and if I can, I want to be able to do the same thing, not just for myself but for everybody. Not many people in my town follow their dreams but maybe, just maybe, I’ll be the first to lead everyone towards theirs.”
“That’s a great dream, I hope you get to fulfill it!” Kaede said with an encouraging smile.
“Well, if it’s Ichigo, it’s not that she can’t do that… a-anyway! Which concert is this, was it an old one or the one a week ago?”
“It was the one just a week back! It was difficult but I managed to get a ticket for her concert. I couldn’t go to any of her other ones…” Getting a ticket was a stroke of luck, not to mention a world of effort for Hiyori since she had to go through great trouble just to find a way to buy one from the countryside. “If anything, it’s a good start to have been able to see the top idol perform!” She clapped her hands together in happiness, her expression blissful as she reminisced of the concert and how her effort paid off.
“The last week’s concert…” Yurika trailed off. How’d some random farmer’s girl get her hands on Hoshimiya Ichigo’s concert? What luck. “So, have you been practicing your dance and singing before it, or after?”
“I’ve been practicing before that. Papa always said to start early if you wanted to follow your dream, not to wait till the last minute! Whenever I had free time, I’d try to spend most of it fruitfully.” Hiyori giggled at her own inside joke, though it was true that she had practiced hard for this event, she still had her fair share of fumbles.
“Then, we shall put that to the test.”
“Good luck”
“Now, Tadaima-san, please show us your performance!”

(This post stars: Haramu Chris, Shibuku Ran, and Louise.)
The crowds were clapping. The announcer did so, too; as well as the two judges – Louise and Ran, as the last candidate left the stage. The Aikatsu System was deactivated as the surroundings in the hall returned to normal.
“That was a great performance, wouldn’t you all agree? It’s fun to watch everyone today!” The announcer praised. “Now, moving on, entry number #289, please come up to the stage!”
As her number was called, the girl with hair of blood rose from her spot. Her expression remained indifferent, although seemed to play towards a teasing little smile. She seemed to be awfully relaxed in comparison to most of the prior, stiff moving girls ahead of her. But then again to Chris, she already felt as though she would be going home a loser. Chris happened to be the depressive sort, but at the same time, her negative outlook on things shown brighter than she would’ve liked. Some found this endearing, but most wouldn't pay her the time of day.
“I need to focus now... to show everyone my worth…” she thought, sternly, as she stepped.
But as she approached the stage, her expression shifted to one of innocence and curiosity. She gave a small smile to the announcer before turning to face everyone. Her eyes and pale skin being illuminated by the lights.
With a sigh, Chris brought one of her hands to her frame while the other began to play with the ruffled skirt of her dress she chose to wear for the day. She had a look of immature wealth, one that was fancy and highlighted the taste found by those of the lolita fashion. Her black dress was somewhat short and showed off the sheer stockings she picked to go with it, while the light also caught the silk ribbons on the top of each frilled cuff. Adorning them had been many, messily etched hearts. She also had on a spiked collar, and a pair of mary-jane shoes. Around one wrist was a black silk ribbon, gently tied with some of the ribbon loosely flowing.
“Please give us your name!” The announcer politely asked the young lady who took the stage. She seemed like an interesting candidate to him, looking upon her attire; there were hardly many gothic loli-esque candidates whom stood out to this degree; she seemed to almost have a natural feeling of it radiating from her.
Clasping both hands slowly now, Chris bowed politely to everyone. “H...Haramu Christina... b-but I go by Chris. Please remember that everyone~!” She said with another smile to the crowd.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Chris-san. May we have you tell us about yourself?” As Ran asked, she looked from bottom, to top. People tried to be fashionable here. Casual, punk, rock, gothic, provocative; all of such styles stemming from different genres were popularly witnessed on this very stage – it was nothing unusual. However, she felt that perhaps a different choice of attire might’ve looked better on Chris.
Slowly, Chris lowered her hands back down to her sides. “About myself?” She repeated before glancing away for a moment. She seemed unsure, or perhaps nervous by how quiet she became.
“I... um... well, I really like videogames, and animals... art... and of course, music and singing. I'm kind of shy around others though, so I tend to be lonely a lot of the time…”
“I see. Does the loneliness – perchance – have any connection to the reason why you wish to become an idol?” Wondered, Ran. This sentence made her immediately imagine the frail Toudou Yurika without the accompaniment of her character. “There are many who attempts to become idols in order to changes themselves, don’t they?”
Louise followed after her, “I suppose. Some seeks a new self, some seeks revolution of the heart. Some seeks to fulfill a dream,” Louise added, pretty much every type of dreams and aims were summed up by her, here. “Do tell us why you wish to be an idol.”
At this, Chris couldn't help but feel her face begin to redden. She really didn't like to admit her feelings like this, and it made her get even quieter, if possible by now.
“I... w-well... m-maybe…”
Gently, Chris chewed the side of her finger, which looked like a cute display. But she realized how this may have made her look, causing her to glare slightly and look back up. “I mean... yes it is. I want to better myself for the sake of feeling better about myself... to find a purpose... to feel... u-um... nothing that's it.” She said while still blushing.
“Alright then,” Ran gave a nod before continuing. Many are shy in the stage; there was nothing wrong with it… well, for now, anyway – as long as she could still provide answers; it was passable. The problem only arises when nervousness wrecks apart a performance on stage. “Is there any reason for which you picked our academy instead of Dream Academy – the school which accepts anyone with dreams and passion alone?”
Chris nodded right away, still with her stern expression. “Yes actually,” she began while taking a step. “That is actually the reason itself. Dream Academy welcomes anyone, and while that is very nice of it and they have some amazing idols, I believe that if you can be accepted into Starlight, it really does mean something more. It feels as though you have earned it, right? Well I want to feel that too.”
“Truly, the gate to stardom is supposedly always slim and narrow; those who are unsuited for this career should be disallowed.” Louise nodded in agreement. “One wouldn’t want to figure out late in their life that they were unfit for this brutal world, yes?” Louise added. Such issues would usually ruin the lives of some girls; as obsession to the world of idols may even cause them to hinder their studies that are usually mandatory.
“Well, moving on, by any chance – do you come from a wealthy family?” Ran continued with the questions. “I don’t mean to be nosy with your background, but I am curious if you’ve received extensive lessons from very young age.” Quite a lot of people made claims to be trained in famous institutes, or by renowned instructors; how much of them were true, in actuality? Most didn’t seemed to be, according to the performances.
“Yes, I do.” Chris answered almost curtly, arms now crossed. “My parents... they're very busy,” she said, although it seemed as if she planned to say something else. “But actually, the staff keep watch over me and have helped me learn what I know now, and they're part of the reason I'm even here now…”
“Then, here’s an inquiry: what kind of an idol do you wish to be – assuming you succeed in this audition today?” Louise asked as she placed her head over the back of her hand. Apparently not disinterested as she had been anymore.
“What kind of idol?” She repeated again. “Well... I really love music, and singing. No matter what happens to me or how I feel, when I sing it just... melts all the pain away, I guess you could say,” she said with another minor blush. “I want to make others feel that way too with my singing, and encourage them to follow their one, true desire.”
“Hmm, I see. Is there a particular genre you’re infatuated with? Rock, for example?” Louise asked yet again. The clothing gave away some things from which Louise’s questions were derived. She wondered if this person was a fan of Toudou Yurika, by any chance.
At this, Chris practically lit up. She was a huge music enthusiast after all. “I love all sorts of music, but rock happens to be one of my top favorites. I also enjoy metal, anything techno or foreign... a-and I sort of like classical music too…” she admitted quietly.
“I see, if I were to tell you that you may pick either Swing Rock, or the LoLi GoTHiC’s Aikatsu Cards – which would you pick?” Louise couldn’t imagine her picking anything else, at this rate. Unless she wished to †˜change’ herself to a greater degree, anyway.
Now thrown off guard, Chris cast a glance towards the side for a moment. “W-well... that is a little hard... I really like both so much. But, I would have to say Swing Rock.” She said with certainty. “I feel like it is a lot more bolder, when I wear it. I always dress like a LoLi GoTHiC user, so it's sort of nice to try something a little different.”
“Acceptable; you have claimed to be seeking a change, after all,” said Ran, acknowledging the statement.
“Is there anyone in particular who inspired you to be an idol?” Louise now pondered if it was Yurika, or Ichigo, or one of the others from the top list. Many derive motivation from inspiration, after all.
“Actually, no, there wasn't…” she said before shaking her head. “Many of the idols before me have inspired me. I can't pick just one.”
“Very well, then. That should do,” Louise replied, she didn’t think she wouldn’t have a person who inspired her. It was rather strange, yet somewhat interesting.
“Then, Chris-san, please show us your performance!” The announcer requested, noting that the judges were done asking.
The crowds were clapping. The announcer did so, too; as well as the two judges – Louise and Ran, as the last candidate left the stage. The Aikatsu System was deactivated as the surroundings in the hall returned to normal.

(This post stars: Kahouin Natsuki, Shibuki Ran, and Louise.)
A day has passed since the auditions in Osaka ended. The Caravan had switched to Kyoto now – it was Wednesday, 11th of April. The weather was rather cloudy. The premises was located close to Kinkaku-ji – the Golden Temple. Apparently for the prospective students of the Starlight Academy to derive luck from it. It was considerably one of the best locations picked according to the media. With the cloudy-sky peeking down from above through the space in the center; the hall was tinted with a hue of gray.
The announcer stood from the podium yet again, and spoke, “its the second day of the Nationwide Audition Caravan hosted by Starlight Academy! What kind of girls do you all think would show up today? Our judges are – as explained before – would be different today!” The announcer stated the obvious, or rather, what he’s paid to say. Regardless, he was into it – it’s all that counted.
The spotlight fell over two elegant figures. “Today, we have Shibuki Ran, and the mysterious Louise!” The two gave away delightful smiles as they waved to the crowd, then took their seats soon after as the crowd yelled out to them. Louise and Ran were exceptionally popular figures throughout the country. Their popularity had been reached to even countries far from Japan.
Shibuki Ran had long – seemingly smooth and silky – brown hair that went past her back. She possesed purple eyes, and a cool demeanor that earned her the nickname †˜Beautiful Blade’. Ran is one of the most popular models in the country about now.
On the other hand, Louise was bestowed with divine beauty; porcelain face and translucent skin – a very small-looking, cute and adorable face that held a sense of dignity from her expressions alone, yet her slim and slender body seemed to possess exotic assets, it seemed. Her blond-hair flowed all the way down to the back of her very thighs. They were extremely long, pretty, shiny, smelled good, and were very wavy. What could possibly be wrong with being this fabulous? The answer was obvious. Louise’s looks and her emerald green eyes have made people call her †˜mysterious’, especially due to the fact that she refuses to share her private information.
The announcer then called countless idols on stage after calling upon their entrance-numbers. Louise seemed to be looking at the stage with a rather disinterested look, while Ran was the opposite – thus held an overly serious expression. It was a strange duo of judges.
“The last girl was quite interesting!” The announcer commented happily, then picked up a piece of paper before reading out, “now, number #69, please come to the stage,” he beckoned.
Natsuki smiled lightly as she heard her number being called. Taking a minute to breath in and out, she got out of her seat, and begun to walk towards the stage. Her walk was slow, deliberate and elegant, but with a just-noticeable sway to her hips. Her eyes sparkled with mischievous energy, while her lips were stuck in a light, daring smile.
Natsuki’s choice was a little unusual for this time of the year. Her top was black and long-sleeved, with white, elegant fur around the collar, and around the wide sleeves, cut much like sleeves on an elegant gown. Beneath it, Natsuki wore a red, tank-top like shirt, completely covered by her top, which in turn was undone towards the bottom, showing off her nicely toned stomach. A small red-and-gold ribbon was tied to the bottom of her collar, snugly dropping from her breasts. Additional belt held the top just above her skirt.
The skirt itself was made out of two, wave-like folds, one black and the other red. It was just long enough to stay tasteful, but short enough to show off Natsuki’s long, white legs. The picture was completed by a pair of black lace stockings, and Natsuki’s favorite pair of high-heeled shoes, which softly clicked as Natsuki stopped before her judges.
“May we know your name, my lady?” The announcer asked, half-joking with a curt bow as he closed his eyes. To him, Natsuki appeared to have a very provocative outlook, but something about her made him want to bow to her. Perhaps it was the sheer power of beauty and appeal despite her age.
Natsuki flicked her long, golden hair, which flew sideways like a curtain. She then smiled, tilting her head just a bit before answering.
“Of course! Je m’apelle Kahouin Natsuki. It’s a...pleasure, to meet you all.” She curtsied, smiling at the judge panel.
“Bonjour. It’s a pleasure to meet you, as well,” Louise’s eyes went from down to her shoes to up to her hair that lied to the top of herself. “Is your origin from France – by any chance?” Louise placed her head over the back of her hand as she asked. Judging from her looks, she made an assumption, which required confirmation.
Natsuki smiled sadly, shaking her head. “Sadly, no. But my mother was born in Rouen, and she taught me the language. I do try to visit, whenever I get the chance.”
“That is rather unfortunate,” despite her words, Louise showed not a spec of pity nor sadness for Natsuki. “I believe you’re blessed with wealthy descent. May I know if your want to become an idol is related solely to fame?” Louise inquired after looking at her proportionate figure and face. Perhaps she seeked acknowledgment from those who hadn’t witnessed her, yet? The want for acceptance is sometimes known to be boundless, after all.
“Not at all” Natsuki said, as she relaxed her arms. “In fact. Rather...I want to see the beauty of this world, and to share it with others. Being an idol seems like the best way to do so.” She said softly, tilting her head.
Louise honestly thought; what? She soon curled up her lips into a smile out of pure amusement, before she could bring herself to conjure her next set of words. Did Natsuki refer to seeing beauty while dancing on stage? Or did she misspeak and actually implied that she wished to †˜share’ her beauty by allowing fans to witness her appearance? Regardless, something was awry about this particular view. “Why not be an artist, then? You may paint and draw – after witnessing the so-called -beauty- of the world. Have it published in any manner, it’s the least a rich person may do with the power they command in society today,” Louise shrugged. Of course, that was the least of the course of actions thought to be †˜best’ usually. Natsuki would require the finest of the fingers people are born with in the world. “Are you truly certain that you may spread this so-called †˜beauty’ – that you speak of – to the world, as an idol? It is a path far tougher than being an artist, my dear.”
Natsuki smiled, as if she was expecting the question. “Paper crumbles, and paint fades. It’s a fleeting creation. Not to mention, an artist’s exposure is always confined by their medium. As a painter for example, I would only express myself through paintings, and even then, my style would further restrict the appeal of what I want to show.” She paused a bit to gather her thoughts. ”But as an idol, I can express myself in so many ways, all at one. And just as well, I can reach so many people, and they can reach me in turn.” She paused, before smiling again and putting one of her smooth fingers on her cheek. ”And frankly, a life without challenge, is no life at all. As a painter, my paintings would be mostly bought by my family friends. Where’s the fun in that? But as an Idol, I will have to stand on my own merits instead.”
Not with proper procedures meant to ensure the lasting quality of an image, perhaps? A portrait may arguably last longer in an exhibition hall for decades – lasting much longer than a human life may do so. However, this was definitely not always the case, which Louise had clearly noticed. There was a concern for having God-blessed fingers, skills, abilities, creativity and a want for expressing the feeling of oneself. However, what was so different about the world of idols? Skills were regardless – not out of question. In fact, it required ten-folds more skill as every part of the body needed vigorous training and endurance. Just as one may express themselves with picturesque images, it is possible to express oneself with vocalization and dancing. There was no doubt this was possible… as for the issue of peers; she could do an anonymous publishing anywhere outside the country; money is power after all – it’s not impossible to do so. “It’s not so hard to portray one’s emotions as long as they possess the skills and talents to do so. That in itself will never change,” Louise sighed, then reformed her perfectly snide yet charming, and confident smile, “I suppose this provides an insight of you – to us. What you truly seem to seek is a way to relieve yourself of boredom, and derive benefits from those who are unfamiliar to your name and position at the same time; only then would you receive fair assessment devoid of pleasantries, after all. An interesting answer, indeed,” Louise assessed, apparently impressed despite pointing out a flaw to Natsuki’s statement.
Natsuki smiled, somewhat enigmatically.
“That’s an interesting analysis; made by an interesting mind no doubt. But in the end, does it truly matter what I get from being an Idol? As long as I have a desire to express and connect with other people - and do it well; while the people appreciate what I do, it’s all fine, isn’t it? As long as we all enjoy ourselves. After all, La vie est drole” Natsuki finished with a flourish. Despite Louise’s earlier verbal sparring, her smile seemed to bore no malice or spite. It was merely...equally amused.
Louise shrugged. “That’s exactly why it’s meaningful. However, I shall leave it at that. If you -are- truly determined, why not seek the answer as you pave your road? It’s far more interesting – in that manner,” Louise stated. The good part of the deal was that Natsuki didn’t lose her cool; which Louise tested the waters to figure. The bad part was that her logic is that of an innocent lamb in a world full of dangers. Sheltered girls held innocence, and sometimes great knowledge, however; they lack intelligence derived from experience and true growth of the mind, sometimes. That’s how Louise felt about them.
“Well, that aside. Assuming you’re as wealthy as Louise-san claimed to believe; have you taken lessons before from any notable instructors, perchance?” As Ran asked, she wondered if Natsuki was taught many things from young age as most princesses of the rich families are. There were many girls who claimed to have received lessons from renowned institutes and famous teachers, but they were not quite on par with the skills expected of them due to their claims. Even if they did… they lacked a special †˜something’ that they required to have to become an idol.
“Technically yes, but most of my lessons were about subjects different from Idol-related activities; mostly academia really. Although, I did have a few classes about how to walk properly, pose, act gracefully and elegantly...a little bit of vocal training as well.” Natsuki admitted.
Ran looked towards Louise. The two then nodded to each other, but didn’t pursue the topic further. “Then, Is there any specific reason why you chose Starlight Academy instead of Dream Academy, or any other agencies?” Ran asked. As one would know if they read the pamphlets of Dream Academy, or watched its commercials; it’s the other popular idol school in the industry that encourages anyone with the dream and drive to go enroll in it. There is no set requirement, or a narrow passage to its entry unlike Starlight Academy. It also employed heavy use of advanced technology evidenced by the various types of computers.
”Why, that’s simple!” This time, Natsuki’s smile had an authentic warmth behind it. ”Because it’s Hoshimiya Ichigo-san’s school of course! It was Hoshimiya-san’s performance who inspired me to consider an Idol career. In my mind, it was only natural to follow in her footsteps, especially after seeing her amazing talent in person!”
“Ah, so you’re a fan of Ichigo? That simplifies the matter. I suppose I’m not so surprised anymore,” replied Ran as she closed her eyes, knowing that how blindingly bright and dazzling her friend truly is.
“Getting her ticket must have been a tiresome task. They’re usually sold out in mere seconds, after all,” Louise added. Even her concerts didn’t had its tickets all bought out -that- fast. The difference between the top second idol of the country, and the top first of the country, held quite a large gap as someone would figure.
Natsuki nodded. ”Indeed. It was very difficult. Luckily, I’ve had some help in form of my caretaker, Seimei-san. I hope I can repay her one day, by inviting her to my own concert...or getting her a ticket for Hoshimiya-san’s performance, whichever comes first.”
“That would be nice, indeed,” Ran smiled to the statement. “Did you get the ticket out of †˜boredom’, or were you a fan from even before watching her live?” The first part of the question referred to Louise making an implication that Natsuki had been a rather aimless person for most of her life due to her birth-born luck.
”I’ll admit that it’s a bit of both. I’ve had some passing interest in idols before, but it wasn’t very serious. Then, one of my friends recommended seeing a live performance to me, preferably of Hoshimiya-san. The rest, as they say, is history.” Natsuki said as she answered.
“I suppose that means that Natsuki-san is – for the most part…”
“Oblivious to the world of idols... for the most part? Possibly, yes,” Louise said. “In my opinion, however; that matters not. What’s most important is that we verify her abilities, now.”
“I suppose that’s true,” Ran smiled with a nod.
As the two were done conversing with each other about the girl, they looked back up. “Alright, shall we have you perform live for us, now?”
“Then please, Natsuki-san! Show us your performance,” the announcer motioned his hand towards the exit on the back-corner of the stage from which she could move on.
Natsuki nodded, before turning half-way towards the announcer and the public, winking at them. “You won’t be disappointed!” She said with a smile.
(This post stars: Koyama Koyuki, Kiriya Aoi, and Arisugawa Otome.)
“The previous girl was interesting, wasn’t she?” The announcer complimented, albeit mostly for pleasantries as it was his job to do so – as the ocular effects of the Aikatsu Stage vanished. “Now, moving on – entry number #101, come make way to the stage please!”
Koyuki looked up from a book at the announcement of her number. Putting it down, she straightened out her clothes, a white jumper and short checked skirt, before walking calmly out onto the stage her shoes tapping with her movement as she walked.
“Please introduce yourself!” The announcer said as he witnessed the girl make way to the stage. He himself had no idea how many times he repeated the same lines over and over today for each and every girl. Really, did they have to wait for him to tell them to do the obvious? Silly little girls.
“Koyama Koyuki,” She said, monotone and expressionless as ever, “I am in your care” She bowed as she said this. She had realised how uncomfortable she felt on the stage in front of these two famous Idols and her legs began to tremble, however her expression didn’t change, revealing nothing.
“Hello, Koyama-chan, it’s nice to meet you!” Aoi said with a smile, despite not seeing any smile on the latest candidate’s face. “Why not tell us about yourself?” One of the objectives Aoi made for herself was to snoop for any potential charm point other than the obvious that the sight provides to notice the true worth of the girls they came to attend the audition today.
Koyuki tilted her head, wondering what to say. She didn’t consider herself a very interesting person. “I like to read…” she said tentatively, “And I like Idols…”
“Mnn… ” Aoi tilted her head too, concerned. “Is she the type to have a hard time expressing herself?” Aoi wondered as she spoke to no one in particular. Of course, she moved away from the mic as she mused alone.
However, Otome seemed to somehow find it appealing, only God knows why. “What kind of books do you read?”
“I’ll read anything, fiction, non-fiction, magazines, I just really like reading,” Koyuki smiled slightly as she talked about books, showing emotion for the first time since she entered the stage.
“Waah! Love~!” Otome exclaimed – her cheeks clearly tinted pink – from witnessing the cuteness portrayed through that light smile.
Aoi on the other hand, watched analytically – from top to down. “Are you very familiar with the world of idols, then?”
Koyuki nodded her head, she thought so at least, she had read enough about the kind of things Idols did and what being an Idol is like.
Aoi raised her index finger to the air with a wink. “Then, question! Which magazine features an article of Ichigo wearing her Premium Rare Dress – for the first time?” This was quite an old article that she referred to, only old fans would know – back from the days when Ichigo was still new; a fresh girl.
“Smile Lemon Pop,” Koyuki said instantly remembering the article in question.
“Correct! It was the #24 issue where the article was published by the company,” Aoi revealed the rest of the details pertaining to the question.
“Is Koyuki-tan also a fan of Ichigo-tan, or simply loves to keep track of information like Aoi-tan?”
Eh? Otome-chan is already treating her like a mascot character?! That’s definitely strange, Aoi thought. It’s as if Otome viewed this girl as an idol already. How could she?! It’s too soon for that!
“I am a fan of Hoshimiya-san, I really respect her dedication to being an Idol but I also love to read so I guess a bit of both,” Koyuki answered straight face back to normal.
“Then, is she the reason you picked Starlight Academy, over Dream Academy, or the other agencies?” As if to confirm, Aoi inquired.
Koyuki nodded her head.
“What kind of an idol do you think you’d become, assuming you pass the audition?” With this, Aoi wished to assess what path as an idol she’d like to take, if she – on a one in a millionth chance – won the audition.
Koyuki tilted her head again, thinking about the question.
“I want to become an Idol before I worry about that…,” she said thoughtfully.
“Hmm, then… from your perspective; what do you think is the best thing about Ichigo?” Smiling, Aoi continued to learn of her opinions.
Koyuki could answer this one, “Her ability to express herself freely,” she said, it was the thing Koyuki envied and respected about Hoshimiya Ichigo.
“I suppose Ichigo -is- the type who just does what she feels is best. A person with no hesitation whatsoever; it reminds me of the first day on Starlight Academy,” Aoi reminisced with a nostalgic look on her face.
“Then~! When did you became Ichigo-tan’s fan?” Now, Otome continued with the set of questions.
“I’m not sure… after reading so many Idol magazines and watching so many Idol shows it just kind of worked out that way…” Koyuki admitted honestly.
“Alright then, Koyuki-san, please show us your performance!” The announcer cut in, noticing that it was about time for the performance to be shown.
Koyuki nodded, and turned to walk off the stage, exhaling a sigh of relief.
“The previous girl was interesting, wasn’t she?” The announcer complimented, albeit mostly for pleasantries as it was his job to do so – as the ocular effects of the Aikatsu Stage vanished. “Now, moving on – entry number #101, come make way to the stage please!”
