Or do what I did. Get to HR6. Mine tundra for ancient shards. Get weathered_(insert weapon of choice here) and upgrade it to designated weapon. It'll be your first (probably) rare 9 weapon with dragon elm (depending on what weapon type it is).
Use Lagia U armor and get that ATK L bonus. This is all I did except that I farmed download quest "The Mountain in the Desert" for Duramboros Z armor (I FUCKING LOVE IT AND IT'S ARMOR LOOKS).

If your going to Nippon banzai!, you must get a traveler's week train pass. 300 USD but it's so fucking worth it and it will save your ass on expenses. Not only can use it locally(in Tokyo), but you can use it on the shinkansen (bullet trains). Since your Tokyo, it will be the East JR lines for you.
If you get this pass, you can visit Kyoto. You must absolutely visit Gion for geishas. Also, while I didn't go there, you can also visit a museum dedicated to Osamu Tezuka, though I don't know where in Kyoto.
Don't forget to visit the Pavilions and the Kiyomizudera and the Toji.
Ths sight from Kiyomizudera is fucking wondrous, and would have been better had I gone inbetween march and april.
Oh, and visit the Fushimi Inari Taisha. It's the big place with the really long row of Torii. The scene there is quite something to behold there too.
If you want something a little more peaceful and rural, visit Mt. Hiei. Bit of a local travel, you can find the locals playing around a small river at the base of the mountain. Cooling off there isn't a bad idea in the summer.
While I haven't explored Osaka fully, you should get the chance to.

Had you gone in early August(2 weeks stay ne?), just like what FOG said you could've gone to Comiket. Almost all the doujin is cheap. But all the corporate merchandise is fucking expensive (DAMN YOU TYPE-MOON! SOLD OUT OR THEIR SHIT!).
And like I told zeroniv, there's a matsuri(festival) that goes on in Asakusa.
