Exactly what I was trying to say. Though I let my emotions cloud my argument since I have been dealing with the "anti-smoking" bs for years (I'm not even a smoker)

Know what I would say to people like you? Get the fuck out of my tavern.

You don't want to be around smokers then avoid them. You have no right to force other people to change their behaviors because its an inconvenience to you. Afraid of getting cancer or whatever bullshit the "second hand" smoke causes. Then avoid areas where smokers are.

You can't say "Oh you don't understand" or whatever. I've been around smokers my whole life and I honestly don't feel like a tirade at this point.

Here is an idea. Rather than ban something because you don't like it, Compromise. Have the law set up to allow businesses to decide if they want smoking and non smoking sections, smokers only or non-smoker only establishments. Don't like the fact that the pub you in allows smokers? Well, there would be another pub next door or down the street that doesn't allow smokers. Simple capitalism theory. Where there is a demand there will be a market and a business to cater to that demand.

The only way to solve the problem is to separate the two groups. The people who wanna bitch can bitch somewhere else. People who smoke and overall don't give a fuck will still be there.

You should reply by grabbing your cigarettes looking at the "warning" and yell "Holy shit! I thought there were good for me!"

At the same time forcing smokers to vacate a place because you don't want to be around it is doing the same thing to them. So we have a conundrum. Smokers want to smoke but, the non-smokers don't want to be around it. Here's and idea..how about.. separate areas! Smoking section at one end of the establishment then have a wall between the areas to prevent the smoke from migrating to the non smoking section. The smokers can have theirs and the bitching people can find something else to bitch about.

I still believe that the person who OWNS the establishment whether it be a bar,pub, concert venue, restaurant or whatever should be the final judge. Its their place, their livelihood. If they want smokers then they should allow them. A desire for "smoke free" places will arise and the non smokers can do there to enjoy whatever.

I think he channels all the worlds greatest minds both living and decease. Everyone from Einstein to Chomsky to Hawking. Hell, I'm sure there are a few "old world" people like Aristotle,etc

My favorite concert venue allows people to smoke. They flick the ashes onto the floor. Here in America we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone as long as its not based on Gender, Race, Creed,etc,etc,etc.

Try what? To buy cigarettes without the right id or throwing someone out of a public place because they bitched about the smokers?

I don't smoke but, I feel that these smoking bans are going a little far. Whenever I open my tavern I will allow smoking and if someone bitches about it I'll just tell them to leave. People are getting hypersensitive about this second hand smoking bullshit. Sure, if the air is gray with the smoke from the cigarettes its bad for you but, the guy sitting on the other side of the room isn't bothering you. I was fine with the smoking and non smoking section separation. That was perfectly fine since some people are allergic to certain things like smoke and dust. This whole anti-smoking thing is just pathetic.

Companies are firing smokers, insurance companies won't insure smokers, they can't smoke at work, anywhere in public that is 100 feet of a building entrance. Think about it, in the larger cities how often is there 200 feet from between two doors? They can't smoke anywhere except for their own homes and they can't be in the same rooms as kids on top of that. The laws are even preventing people from smoking in their own cars! Then on top of that, people keep putting more and more taxes on tobacco products. I think its stupid to take something that costs $1-2 as a finished product then add $4-8 dollars in taxes on top of it. All to "keep it out of the hands of children" which is bullshit. People are buying the cigarettes for these kids. Jacking up the price isn't stopping these people from giving these kids cigarettes. They aren't walking into a store and buying a pack. They don't have the right I.D. for it and by the time they get the right I.D. THEY CAN BUY IT THEMSELVES!

Bush Comment: He has a degree in accounting. He has a rather nice education. Though some of these "problems" being blamed on him aren't really his fault. Congress has its fat ass in the situation to. Do note however. I didn't vote for him nor would I. I vote Libertarian anyways.

On topic: I believe its the plummeting education standards. America has this bullshit "No Child Left Behind" policy. Because some students couldn't keep up we had to Lower the standards! Overall its a combination of factors. People would rather gorge themselves on junk food rather than eat a nutritious meal and give their brains the proper nutrients it requires. Then the simplicity of things in life is another factor. Tools have replaced the human brain. Take mechanics for example. "Old school" mechanics are masters of their crafts. They can tell you what the problem is just by hearing the car idle. The new generation of mechanics have tools to "help" them but, really these "mechanics" are just parts monkeys because they no longer need to learn anything beyond how to change a part in the engine. When it comes to bad spelling and grammar we can blame that on the whole instant message/text message craze that is going on now. Why waste the time and energy to type out the whole word when the idiot on the other end will understand when you cut out several letters anyways?

There are dozens of factors. In order to cause the brain to deteriorate you have to use it just like any other muscle. Don't use your muscles they will shrink and get weaker. Same goes for the brain.
