Graphic RAM (GDDRx) is optimized for maximum transfer rate, and tends to have pretty bad latency figures, as they don't need to be that responsive as usually they're just pumping data to the GPU as fast as possible.

Normal RAM (DDRx) on the other hand has to support multiple programs running in the memory where data is constantly shuffled, loaded, moved to swap, etc. so latency is a lot more important.

As long as this doesn't turn into anther "Cult of a Fruit", I think this is a win-win-win situation.
-FAKKU gains income and respectability (it became just that harder to be shot down by copyright trolls).
-Companies gain direct access to one of the biggest communities of hentai fans, so any advertisement will directly target the appropriate market and will likely garner more revenue through increased sales.
-Fans will get a better service from FAKKU and will be able to buy stuff through an intermediary that's tailored to their needs.

I also applaud Kitty Media's initiative. Digital distribution *is* the future. Trying to co-operate with the netizens rather than enforcing their own "solution" earns them many browny points in my book.

Basic advice:
-Get drivers for everything *before* you reformat.
-Get more RAM. This should be the one upgrade that's not *that* expensive on a laptop. (It's certainly cheaper then getting a desktop).
-Get Windows 7. (I'm not sure whether there even *are* drivers for XP for yor chipsets).

Is there a sticky on your computer with your windows serial? If yes, you might be able to install windows with that serial and have it passed off as legit. (It'll actually *be* legit, since if you have such a sticker, then you have a valid license).

If you actually want to learn how to shoot photos, forget the expensive hardware.

-Light, light, light (what a photographer should always look out for)
-Using a fixed lens (it's lot better than any zoom lens & more importantly you'll be thinking about shooting pictures instead playing with your camera)
-Film (even if you use a digital piece, you'd better read this part too)
-Exposure (f/8 and be there!)

...so actually while you're learning *photographing*, it's better to use a simpler camera!

Real world use does not justify buying a high-end card (...and most cards on that chart *are* high-end), since while a mid-range card might not allow one to play *all* the newest gamest at, *all* the highest settings they tend to be enough for games to look *good*.

If you actually wait for the price of games to drop, then you can usually buy another "mid-range" card (actually the very same card you'd have bought 1/2 year ago ...except you get it for 1/2 to 1/4 of the original price) and still play the game at max settings.

Ie. paying more than 200$ is not really worth... buying that card for around 250$ is "somewhat" justifiable, but be ready to accept that it's price is going to drop to around 150$ within a couple of months. The sweet spot (IMHO, USA geeks feel free to disprove me) around 100-150$.

Another good thing about not buying high-end, or high-mid cards is that you can resell your old card and "loose less" than you'd on a high-end card as the price of mid-range cards tends to drop a lot less, even used. (ie. you "loose" about 50$ instead a 100$).
