Nowadays, I don't really have a tan, though it'd do me good. Whenever I'm tanned my skin is in a really good condition otherwise I'm prone to get zits. When I go on canoing/cycling tours I can get so tanned, that I'd only need a pair of shades to apply for welfare.

In the spirit of being cheap, I was wondering if there was anyway to keep what is currently on my HDD, that is all media and the OS, and simply apply it to the new build. Skipping over formatting it and reinstalling the operating system.
If the new motherboard is different from your old one then it's improbable that plugging in your old HDD into the new motherboard will simply make the OS work, since the OS was based on settings for the old motherboard (as Fraser said).
So how do we work around this?
1. Create recovery disk of OS
2. Back-up your media somewhere -> either online storage (slow), an external hard drive, or make a partition on your hard drive (hard to do without formatting the drive, needs specialized software).
3. Install the OS from the recovery disk when the old HDD is connected to the new motherboard.
4. Put your backed up media back into your HDD.
Step 2 is recommended because its likely you need to wipe your HDD before putting it into the new mobo. Otherwise the HDD will "look" for the old mobo.
You could get a fresh copy of win7, but you'd still have to back-up your media somewhere. I suggest just getting an $50-$80 dollar external hard drive somewhere and backing up your data on it. Ciao.
Edit: DON'T WIPE THE TREASURE OF J GOODS YOU HAVE ON YOUR HDD.
+1 Tip
Make sure you have at least 2 partitions/hard drives. This is important, because that way your data will always be separate from your system and a reinstall/format won't touch it.

Ubuntu is nice, but unless you're willing to dedicate time to learning how to do simple things like installing packages I wouldn't recommend it. I haven't tried playing J games on my ubuntu pc, but I don't believe you can even with apps like wine.Actually the built in Synaptic Package Manager is a breeze to use. Just click install, and that's it! For people moving to Linux from Windows I actually recommend KUbuntu (Ubuntu with the KDE GUI instead Gnome) as it's a bit closer to what they're used to.

You can torrent windows 7 ultimate for free. I did it and it works great and bill gates will never know nor ever find me. :| I live in a part of the world where pirating the OS is the "norm"... however I doubt that same's true for where Soma1230 lives. If you're in higher education, Microsoft should have some form of cheap/free license available for you to acquire Windows 7 legally.

*raises hand*May i ask why Vista is supposed to be slower then Win7?
I dont know much about computer's,but my reason tells me that if an Software got more features then its going to be slower.Win7 got more features right?
The number of features has nothing to do with the speed or resource usage of a program. Optimization, development time & focus does. It's a good rule of thumb, that feature rich programs will tend to be more resource intensive, but this is because such programs tend to be for professionals whose demands are way above what the average user needs. (Ie. Virtualdub vs. Adobe's Studio products, Paint.NET vs GIMP or Photoshop)
There's also a thing called *feature creep* which means that ever more features get crammed into a programs specifications during actual development. This delays deployment and take away time from optimization and debugging.
However Windows 7 was about *polish* & *optimization* first, rather than cramming in even more features, so these comparisons hold no water.
TheNiceGuy wrote...
And why do people complain so much about the UAC ?As far as i know (think to know) Win7 got that too, just hidden somewhere.
People hated UAC in Vista since it kept interrupting their normal work-flow and was annoying as hell. Windows 7' UAC is a lot better, *because* it's a lot less visible as things have been streamlined a lot more.
TheNiceGuy wrote...
I wonder why folks hate Vista so much, never got problems with it,sure i wish Tsukihime and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia would properly run but thats a small price to pay if your OS got stable in return.Maybe the people who do more with their computers then surfin the net, playing some games and doing the defragmentation encounter that problems.
Just wanted to know.
Until Windows Vista, Microsoft had an excellent track record of maintaining software compatibility. This took an immense effort, but both developers as well as users loved them for it. Unlike Linux, upgrading your system or system components could never break compatibility with a program you used.
Granted there are *some* things you couldn't run, but these were due to switching to NTVDM for running Win9x and DOS programs when Windows 2000 came out, but even then compatibility with legacy programs was excellent. MS developers often went and inserted an application/game *specific* compatibility code (like they did for SimCity that was doing some nasty tricks with memory management).
...when Vista came out MS abandoned a long tradition of support that endeared them to their users and made developers stick with the firm even through trying times.

I know quite quite a bit about computers. It's just that I have a 132GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM I think and fucking Vista is slow. I was aiming for something quick, so I could get back to work faster. The simplest solution is to get more RAM on a desktop. On a laptop though... well, maybe still getting RAM, but it may be expensive. With just 1 GiByte of RAM I recommend either XP or some flavor of Linux. Beware though, that some laptops can't be used with XP as there are no drivers for their chipsets (sound, network, wifi, etc). If we're talking about a laptop and you decide to go with XP, be sure to check whether there are available drivers before you install the OS or you might have a nasty surprise.

1. PSU stickers lie... and they can never outperform what's on their sticker. Instead buying a "seemingly" high wattage PSU, you're better of buying a good brand name one that has a sane wattage.
Check this on what are "quality" PSU-s unfortunately it's a case by case issue, since most brands are just that... names with stickers, not actual manufacturers.

2. As for the SLI & Nvidia vs. ATI question:
-SLI & Crossfire are a *gimmick* they're not worth the investment.
-Buying high end video-cards is a waste of money. You're much better off buying something for *half* the price and upgrading in a year. By the time games come out that actually take advantage of the hardware the same performance can be bought for less.
Whether you buy AIT or NVidia is up to you, but for God's sake don't waste money on something point less. It's better to buy a mid-range card from the latest generation than a "tricked out" one from an earlier.
3. Just plugging in your hard drive WON'T WORK! Windows XP/Vista/7 was installed on a system with a specific motherboard, chipsets, etc. The drivers for the new motherboard won't be present, so the OS will crash on startup. You will need to do a recovery install in the least.
In fact you better prepare some form of install CD/DVD right now as you'll need one. In theory you *can* reinstall the OS and use your current serial number, but I'm not familiar with what kind of license you have your current OS with. (IIRC OEM installs can't be moved onto a new config, while regular ones can... in essence both can, but the former is not "legal".)
So to summarize: IMHO you're better off going with a non SLI motherboard, a mid-range card, a mid range, brand name, high quality PSU and just upgrading later on...
...and spend the rest of the money on "booze and hoes".

Escaflowne had characters who'd sprout wings - this was a plot relevant point, so I won't spoil more - and they did use mecha in a fatasy setting, but they didn't "feel the pain of the suits" (...though characters tend to grunt a lot in mecha anime when their mecha gets hit, even though they don't feel a thing).

I believe Tsuyaru is correct.Until the ISPs actually start handing street addresses of ip adresses/timeframe to RIAA, no one gets sued other than the ISP. Therefore, it would be in their interest to not execute those measures. So nothing to worry about yet.
from the same ars technica article
ISPs have committed to forward such notices to subscribers—though, crucially, they won't turn over actual subscriber names or addresses without a court order. This is a one-way notification process.
Re-read the article. It's *not* just forwarding notices, but a "graduated response". What does that translate to? They will altogether *cut* your Internet service if you're caught continuing to do things they deem "suspicious".
Maximum PC wrote...
The new agreement isn't a three-strikes-and-you're-out arrangement, as was previously rumored. Instead, Verizon, Comcast, AT&T, Cablevision and Time Warner Cable will send users an alert "in response to a notice from a copyright holder" like the RIAA. If someone continues to download or upload copyrighted content, a "graduated response" takes effect: ISPs will redirect users to a splash page containing the warning or start sending pop-ups insinuating that their customers are dirty criminals. After five "alerts," the ISPs turn to "Mitigation measures," which are oh-so-nebulous "measures that the ISP may deem necessary to help resolve the matter."

Plan A) Bypass the problem altogether:
1. Buy a seedbox and use it to torrent (downloading stuff over FTP/SFTP). Whatbox.ca offers some good plans, cheapest is 15$/month. (You can also use your box to setup an SSH tunnel - your very own "proxy" to anonymize your activity on the net).

Why do you people insist on buying these, huge, overly powerful PSUs? Bigger =/= better. You're wasting power. 400-450 Watts should be enough for *anything* as long as you're not using dual video-cards. (Which in the end tends to be a waste, as newer, single cards usually outperform them within 1/2 a year. Having multiple cards for multi-monitor purposes is another story, but likely not your concern). Even with two video-cards adding about 100-120 Watts should be enough. (So a 600 Watt PSU should be enough for ANYTHING!)
If you only have a couple of drives - optical, hard-disk, SSD - even that figure could be lower, as a basic 450 Watt setup can handle a *lot* of peripheries.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/291993-10-power-supply-video-cards
Finally, I'd get an ATI video-card as you get a better bang for your buck, right now ATI is just better. The only edge Nvidia has is FXAA (which tends to look waaaay to blurry IMHO anyway), but in every other aspect ATI has them beat right now.
And also is u already have a hard drive don't u just plug it in and install the drivers for ur gpu etc...
Also since I'm upgrading my system which do u think is better radon or nvidia asdferformance wise
Not recommended. Liquid cooling is a hassle. It's powerful, but also expensive and you'll find few people willing to properly give you tech support. Over-clocking can also void the warranty of your parts - not recommended for a new system.

Others find that they can do pretty much everything they want, right "out of the box" (so to speak) so they don't *need* in depth knowledge...

But without at least giving it a look, all they'd have is a superficial impression from what others have told them.
Bottom line: It's free, it doesn't take much time and it may be (a) solution. Even installing XP takes more time and preparation.

Give Ubuntu a try. You don't even need to install it to try it, just burn a CD/DVD image, boot it and it works (off the CD/DVD). After installing you can even dual boot it along with XP/Vista/7.

It's a taboo for me to do it from behind as I respect myself and my partner. In my point of view, it's just not the right place to do it.Like a lot of enjoyable things in life (alcohol, tobaco, hentai anime with seiyuus screaming in a high pitched voice), anal sex is an acquired taste.
Some misconceptions:
1. Anal sex hurts - no it doesn't. Just use LOTS of lube, do some (anal) foreplay and take is slow! When I say slow, I mean SLOOOOW. She has to adjust to it, so don't rush it.
2. Anal sex is only enjoyable for the man - ...and the woman! I've known girls who came over and over again from anal.
3. It's dirty - ...so is plain 'ol sex. OK. It can be dirtier, but it's not that hard to avoid. As mentioned above timing your penance at the porcelain goddess or an enema if you're in a hurry works... so does using a condom.
4. It can lead to infections - actually true. Use a condom or keep the rectum clean.
5. Anal is for girls only - OK. We're venturing into less "mainstream" areas of sexuality, but anal can be enjoyed by guys too as it can directly stimulate the prostate... and some girls get really turned on by the idea of "doing" their boy.
6 ...but that's gay! - Cunnilingus was also considered gay. The thing is, as long as you're with a girl, whatever you're doing is hetero by definition.
