Sometimes food, sometimes other books, and sometimes nothing at all. I write on my laptop, and so both of my hands are usually engaged to do anything else, unless I take a break.
I heard about this movie a ways back, like the others mentioned. And I have no doubt that this will fail as well. I would prefer a more Asian person to fill the role of Chun-li in any case. Kristen Kreuk just doesn't do it for me.
Any live-action film related to the martial-arts/video games/anime tend to fail. Mortal Kombat, though I enjoyed it, was pretty cheesy. Dead of Alive was cheesy too. And now a Tekken live-action? This is going to be one sector of film-acting that's gonna fail, and fail hard. They tried milking the comicbook series, and eventually that sucked and they milked it dry. Now we see these hollywood producers rearing their heads to another potential cash-cow genre - enough is enough.
No, no I agree that the governments should implement public works to get people back into some form of employment, much like FDR's new deal programs. I also think it's feasible for the government to deal with the energy crisis by creating more green-industry jobs. Unfortunately, I also think that this field is more R&D than manual labor, and it will take a lot of money to implement anything related to energy-reducing protocols and practices. For the most part, we would need something technologically and pragmatically possible to implement before suggesting a face lift for the green industry.
@nzephier: When I read your poem, there are certain things that makes it sound like you're giving a lot to her and she isn't to you. If I was "your-wife-to-be", I'd find that insulting. But I do get the message that "love costs, but it doesn't matter if we love each other," but I feel like there's a sort of critical tone in the poem that shouldn't be there.
I share the same thoughts about the free verse style as hermitVI.
And yes, since we are critiquing a poem, this should belong to the Writing and Lemons section. In fact, I created a thread for the exact purpose of sharing and discussing of poems here: https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=9942

I agree with what everyone has said and I express my sincere regret. (I read your topic post... then when I read your post my jaw dropped in shock.)
You have to understand that to a lot people, what makes life worth living is how we live it and how we conduct ourselves through life's tribulations and obstacles. To her parents, you opened up a world anew for her. You taught her love, and got love in return. You made her happy, and in return she made you happy. You overlooked her autism, and in return her parents are grateful for someone who could do that. Don't you understand, that by being in a meaningful relationship with her, her parents were relieved and grateful that someone could love their daughter? That their daughter had become cheerful because of you? That she broke out of her shell and became a more outgoing person? This is thanks to you, and only you, and regardless of her dying, her parents cannot fault you for anything, especially when it wasn't your fault. To many parents, they want their children to live happy lives, and if short, at least they were happy. Better that than a long and miserable life in my opinion.
Survivor's guilt is something never easy to deal with. Months ago, I got into a car accident my college, and I pretty spent the rest of the day in mild shock - I could've hurt her, I could've killed her, I could've been hurt, I could've been dead, we could've been dead, and so on. But that's life, and like the others said, take it, embrace it, and by embracing the truth of the reality, you can move on.
And to answer your question of why she saved you, I hate to give a corny answer, but when you're in love, people do anything. She saw the lorry coming, and maybe she thought that she could save you instead of herself. Maybe she thought that because of you, she wouldn't be this happy and enjoying her time as such. Maybe because she was autistic and didn't think she had the reflexes to save herself and you. Maybe she was being altruistic as humans tend to exhibit alongside with selfishness.
Maybe maybe maybe. In the end we won't know, and probably never know. But you know what? I don't think it matters anyways because it was her action that mattered, and that's why you are still living today to post here at FAKKU. You were given another chance at life born from someone's love, and so treasure it. It's the only thing you can do to repay her altruistic action, to live and move forward, sharing your kindness that you shared with her.
Goddamn, I sometimes feel like life altogether isn't fair at all.

I was always under the impression that moderators were there to make sure the forums were organized, neat, and helped to facilitate the flow of discussion, at least from the multiple forums I’ve been to. I’m sure most users think the same way, but as I’ve noticed at FAKKU, things run on ideals and user-support than strict policing. There’s nothing wrong with that, and that’s part of FAKKU’s virtue anyways. It’s only because we have a recent surge of misplaced threads, repeat threads, spammers, etc. etc. that users are pushing for extra moderators.
In fact, I sent Teclo a PM not too long ago about a misplaced request thread, but he told me that he can’t move threads into the Request section, but only out, given his status as a limited-to-section moderator. Rather than pushing for new moderators since it’s obvious that this argument won’t go anywhere, can I request for Teclo to obtain global moderator privileges? That way he’ll be able to handle misplaced request threads in different sections, which make a big percentage of misplaced threads.
I have no intention of being a moderator due to whether or not I have the time or further opportunity to visit FAKKU (it’s complicated), and I have no doubt that I’ve killed off my chances of being one anyways. But I can’t imagine having the users themselves say that the forums need more moderating… which strikes me as highly ironic, but here we are, with users asking more policing, which in my opinion can’t hurt if the regular members are suggesting it. But case closed, ironic or not.
As a suggestion, perhaps maybe the admins should make their intentions clear with the reporting/PM plan as a front page news thread? I don’t know if other users do so, but if I encounter a misplaced or repeat thread, I try to deal with the user him/herself before resorting to PMing a mod or admin if they’re on the forums, then I report the thread as a last resort. I don’t think many users are aware of the admin’s intentions, and such it might be better to state it openly. Not all users visit the Feedback/suggestions section, and miss out on the posts in each thread. Just a tidbit of advice.

To stimulate the Western Economy we desperately need a huge boost to industry, now this could come from the military buuuut wouldn't boosting the green industry which contains literally trillions of dollars of untapped wealth and millions of well paid jobs world wide ready for the taking. For instance, give the "Big Three" incentives attached to their bailout to start producing hydrogen and electric cars, bring the oil companies on board with Hydrogen filling stations and algie oil replacement technology.
The best part being literally everyone would jump on-board and invest because it's already the world fastest growing industry, consumers are starting to love green products for to relive their guilt/help the enviroment and people have always loved gratuitous wealth.
Also what better way to start gaining energy independence then to start moving to green and unfortunately but necessarily nuclear power.
Energy issues aside, where are we going to get the money to transform industries primarily based on gas-chugging vehicles? And the money to implement said technology? Idealisitc, but unrealisitic given our current situation. On top of that, like FPOD mentioned, people don't have the money to buy things like that. People with Hybrids don't get the advantages of driving them until a couple to 5 years later, then they start saving on the money.
It's possible that the MR links are also getting reported, as there has been a string of reporting incidents all over the hentai community recently. As for the server, the admins are probably dealing with that as we speak.
Oh man, what is this guy doing? I'm gone for most of yesterday and I post to vote in the motemote and post here and there before sleep claimed me, and I see the User Uploads overrun by one single user. If I surmise correctly, it's most likely that said user is trying to get crimson875's uploads and getting around the post requirement.
It's because we get users like these that break the order and flow of the forums that people are suggesting more moderators.

A depression? Maybe to probably. Like the Great Depression? Never. Reason for my argument is that we don't have dust storms tearing up the midwest like it did in the Great Depression, nor did our assets and money disappear like *snaps finger* that as it did during the crash of the stock market. We might decline into a financial situation similar to the Great Depression, but it's a slow and gradual process that hasn't made the nation collapse like it did then. (Well, almost did. Then FDR and WWII came and saved the day.) As long as the basic services are being worked on and the food supply does not go feed the dustdevils, I don't think we would ever reach a state like the Great Depression.
It's also my opinion that this another way for nature to regulate the environmental equilibrium. Overpopulation has definitely contributed more than it's fair share to our current economic, financial, energy, and resources problems. As people say, it's a dog eat dog world, and that still applies today, and I think that no matter what the governments do, there are people who are going to get the short end of the stick, and possibly die off. One of the major things that's keeping Thomas Malthus' theory on overpopulation from being completely true is the human ingenuity - technology. With technology, we've found shortcuts, advancements, and discoveries. So for now, I believe that we can prevent the world from slipping something into a "Great Depression," but I wouldn't be surprised if the recession lasted for a decade or more.
