Yeah, I had the same opinion of KloWn, but more so because this is primarily a moderator's responsibility to check the mood and flow of the forums while the admins dedicate their time to the meatier parts of the main site and major changes. This is in no way insinunating that the moderators aren't doing their jobs, and I realize there's a lot of forum to go through and not all moderators can be on every single day. Hence, we have a need of increasing the number of moderators a bit. Since the staff have openly expressed that PMs or reporting threads won't bother them at all (don't regret this later, haha), I think that will definitely solve our current problems faster than usual.
Though I ultimately think that that is only a temporary measure that will suffice for now (because of Motemote and all), and that we should eventually increase the ranks of the moderator team somewhat. From 2-5 would be fine in my opinion. Let's see, we have near 90,000 members, and *counts active moderators* we have Gambler, Mike, Mattarat, Hibia, Tsujoi (if I'm forgetting anybody else, please tell me), and if we go by the rule of 1 mod per 10,000 members, we're short of 3-4 moderators. And again, there is no need to make this decision now, but it’s something we must consider soon, especially once Motemote actually starts rolling, possible flame wars can ensue and spam and everybody would need to be on the lookout for that.
And another question: I notice that certain parts of the forum have their own moderator: is that the only domain of control or can they edit other portions of the forums like a general moderator? If that’s the case, I think having moderators that have general powers over the entire forum (edit/fix/intervene as they see fit) or moderators dedicated to the 5 main sections (FAKKU, General, Anime and Manga, Hentai, and Special Interests) would be much more handier and flexible. If that isn’t case and all moderators have general modding powers, then scratch what I just wrote, though it might not be a bad idea to have general moderators per main section of the forums. What’s your take on this?
And one last thing before I stop this diatribe/argument of mine, I still believe that FAKKU should institute a new page of rules, FAQs, and FAKKU core values and philosophy. It will make things a lot easier as the rules will be categorized and indexed and linked as well as listing general netiquette guidelines/common sense as well as our FAKKU philosophy. This will ensure:
1. We have a definite page of reference (and linked references) with all the rules, FAQs, and netiquette in one place. + Sufficiency, + easy reference of rules
2. This will make our site more organized, more compact, more concise, and the rules/FAQs/netiquette obvious to everyone – they CAN’T miss it, and it’s all there. + Efficiency, + less stickies and random threads that contain x, y, z, + forum ease of navigation
3. This new page/section containing x, y, z will give our FAKKU staff legal and proper firepower to move/edit/delete threads and/or punish members and who break the rules that have no proper recourse or defense. (This assuming staff will have some sort of punitive measures, referring back to what I wrote about what can constitute as punitive measures) + Legality, + swift and proper action, + overall forum cohesion and unity
How this new page/section would be set up in the spoiler to save space: (subject to revision as seen fit)
Main page of our philosophy, rules, FAQs, and netiquette, here at FAKKU:
A) Our mission statement and philosophy here at FAKKU: (the five bullet points mentioned previously)
------ FAKKU is primarily a HENTAI/Japanese material oriented site that offers free material for you to fap (Not including real porn). We do not believe in withholding material by seniority or post count. However, swift and proper measures will be taken if we find that you cannot behave accordingly to the rules and proper netiquette.
------ FAKKU is user-controlled and staff-administrated - YOU create the community, YOU contribute, YOU interact. Whatever happens to the site/forums are the direct results of your presence and input. Keep that in mind.
------ FAKKU is and aims to be a more friendly and active community with users who share and contribute opinions and material. Offensive stuff will not be tolerated, and please DO NOT bite off noobs’ heads. A site/forum exists because of new members. Vice versa, please DO NOT piss off the regular members with inappropriate online behavior or with a disregard for the rules either.
------ FAKKU is like any other online community and will abide by general netiquette guidelines and common sense in addition to our own rules. Most basic rule is the golden rule: treat others like you would like them to treat you.
------ FAKKU is here and exists for you and others. We aim to please… your sexual cravings, desires, needs, fetishes, you name it - we have it, or try to have it.
B) General rules: (overall rules and subdivided into linked pages.)
------ Rules regarding general posting of words, images, links, and material
------ Rules regarding requests: post link to Request section rules *
------ Rules regarding uploading material: post link to User Uploads section rules *
C) Netiquette:
------ Guidelines of netiquette (list points a, b, c and so forth regarding proper behavior to posting and interacting)
------ General common sense things when going on the forums (list points a, b, c, and so forth)
D) FAQs: (subdivided according to subject matter)
------ How to download/upload
------ What can I download/upload
------ Explanation of the site layout
------ User profile, inbox, PM, posts, reputation explanation, and so forth.
*In the general rules, the link will redirect the user to request/user uploads section with a revised list and explanation of the rules and whatnot. If we revise the rules in each section, that saves space on the main page of philosophy, rules. FAQS, and netiquette, and saves time in creating this section.
I’m am strongly urging for this, not only because our rules and FAQs and stuff is scattered and hidden, a lot of forums have a page or section dedicated to the rules. Here’s an example at boxtorrents.com where I’m a member in good faith though I don’t post: http://wiki.boxtorrents.com/index.php/Rules And in fact, they created their own wiki page because of the intricacies of using torrents and the rules and FAQs for it. We obviously don’t need a wiki, but I feel that we do need in some sense a page just dedicated to rules and such. Also, my points about FAKKU philosophy and mission statement were what I gleaned from admins’ thoughts and posts and I think it accurately reflects FAKKU’s mission statement.
Any and all input/feedback would be appreciated to the moderator/staff suggestions and the suggested pages of rules are welcome and appreciated. I know I write a lot, but I do this for the welfare of the community, so please read carefully even if it’s long, I’d be much obliged.
