As I mentioned before, but maybe I should clarify this better, this first suggestion of mine is only a countermeasure that serves as FAKKU staff and user credibility when breaking the rules and delivering punitive measures - the rules are there and out in the open, so if you break the rules, there isn't an excuse that can save you because the rules are so obvious. Punitive measures follow as fit per situation. However, it’s also true that our rules and FAQs is a mess and should be reorganized, reformatted, and rewritten for sufficiency and efficiency. This will not deter anyone and is good for the forum per se.

We can also make this our FAKKU Consitution if you will, including our mission statement and site philosophy. That being said, we can summarize FAKKU's philosophy in a few bullet points:

We do not believe in withholding material by seniority or post count. However, swift and proper measures will be taken if we find that you cannot behave accordingly to the rules and proper netiquette.

Of course, but the main issue is the maddeningly increase of topics in wrong sections and our current staff lacks the manpower and time to address all of this. At least I think that’s what we lack.


I know, and I wasn’t too keen on this either. I wasn’t aware that an attempt at this was tried until the morning of forum downage due to spam cleaning. (I missed the thread apparently… very unlike me.) I do support and think that it’s a great idea that some sort of punitive measure system be created and implemented with staff being able to temporarily ban people from the forums. (FAKKU material is downloadable, inbox and profile are visible, but the forums will become unavailable. Don’t know the code for this, but I hope it isn’t hard to implement.)

On another note, I must share this so that we can glean something useful from this. And again, this is the same user I keep referring to in my previous posts in this thread. In the second exchange of PMs, this was what I wrote to him/her verbatim in its entirety:

I didn't even realize that this was a problem because I thought it was a given that only the staff could request what to translate... guess most people don't realize that.

Overall, the message that I'm passing is that by doing something about this, we can ensure a more clean, neat, and organized forum. I mean, threads in wrong places, noobs spamming galore, repeat threads, etc. can be rectified with some work, revision of the rules, and an addition of more moderators. It'll keep the forums flowing at a nice pace. Best of all, when moving a thread into the right section, the moderator doesn't have to say anything but PM the creator of the thread privately explaining what he/she did wrong with a warning and such. No flaming by other users and saves face. It's just that these noobs are getting out of hand, and everybody's getting sick of it.
