For a person with so many posts, never bothered to search in the user uploads section? Try there first.
Access to exclusive content? I thought those with higher rep could change their title names and edit stuff.

I'd want to, but decide against it. I don't want all my friends and family to know I frequent a hentai site. I mean, my sister's one of my friends, you know?animeholic1 wrote...

@KloWn: I think you take the repping a wee bit too seriously. Why only me? What i said wasn't much diffrent from what the other said.
Of course, the argument can be turned against me because I do care about my rep as stated earlier, but because it's only I have so little rep that it matters when you have so much; the way that you acculumated reps just warps the system, not that it's your fault, but point in case proven. I don't see many people de-repping others, and if they get de-repped, 1) they deserve it or 2) they're just being dicks. Being on the forums long enough, we can tell who's being a dick and who isn't, and I suppose that's what matters.
I could swear we had a thread like this in another section. Whatev.

Am I the only person to not like this Vocaloid shit stuff? I don't see what's so great about it, least not from the music.
Whitelion and ShaggyJebus make many valid points.
Simply put, while reputation may only be a number, it becomes something to identify with: the more you have the better, as with most things in life. I'm proud of my reputation because I've gotten them all through my posts and not my uploads, which I never had any to begin with. But the system as we all know it is also cracked up. Uploaders with reps in the +100s exist, and although we know that they deserve it for uploading great content for others to enjoy, it warps our perception on rep points and what we actually get it for. The -reps I won't say, and should be pretty obvious by my post after said dumb antics. The noobs are the only exception where a -rep is just a waste of time, unless the exceptionally dumb comes by. What's also fucked up is that people can be in the negatives then all the sudden dip back into the positives, and I've even seen cases where people just give rep for the fun of it due to some random action. (Yes, I remember the thread where this one guy posted stuff about reps and got reps for it... wtf?) Nowadays I'm a lot more freer with the rep-giving, and I'll usually say who gets the rep.
In the end, all that matters is the duration/quality-of-posts. After a while, regular users get to know each other through frequent interaction, and all that matters is the username. (At least for me, I recognize people more by their names than avatars or anything else.) I've also mentioned this before, but I think the rep-system is pointless and unecessary, but since it's here and Jacob won't remove it, it's here to stay and there's not much we can do about it.
