I get the feeling none of you bother to read the news post carefully.
This:
If I still need to spell it out to you, it means all the Strike Witches get a chance. And oh look. Yoshika, Mio, and Luccini are all on the poll now. >_>
/cryincorner
Well lookie here, chaps!
Since so alarmingly many of you missed it, I decided to bold it. I honestly cannot believe my eyes.
I did not say this on the original news post, but the rule is we can only have a maximum of two girls per series. This is why some of your favorite characters aren't here. We did try to get a diverse yet interesting lineup, though there were many painful sacrifices that had to be made.

I've finished with the evaluations; you should all have received a PM if your submission made the cut (except you, f0dd3r, since I contacted you directly). If you didn't get a PM, don't be disappointed; your submission will still be included at the end, it just won't be part of the main calender, unfortunately.
As I said in the PM, I have been very critical and harsh in my evaluations. The reason for this is not because I want to make you feel horrible, but because I want your hard work to be the best it possibly can. You received the PM because I want to include your submission in the final calender, and I gave the suggestions I gave so you could look at it and decide whether you want to make the change or not. I have also asked the opinions of a few other artists before finalizing the evaluations, so I did try to be as fair as possible.
I originally wanted the absolute final submissions on November 30th, but it is obviously too short for some of you. Therefore, I decided to extend the absolute deadline to December 5th. I honestly cannot allow any more time than that if we're going to make prints (still have to work out the legal issues).
Ramune, I've sent you several emails to no response. It is well past the deadline and you still have not submitted anything more than what you posted on this thread. The later you submit it means the less time you get to make the changes; any later than November 30th, and I'll consider you out of the project. This would be a big pity because you have a great submission that you completed early, but simply failed to submit it before the deadline.
The next stage of art direction would be, naturally, to assign the months. I want you guys to give your opinions; feel free to request a particular month for your submission, but it must make sense. For example, a beach scene should not be in December (we are going by Northern Hemisphere seasons here).
Hope you artists will continue to enjoy working on your submissions, and all of you non-participators will support them in this very last stage of the project!

Just a dumb question: only three groups, or is there another "older season" motemote bracket? The final will pit the winners of the three groups into one huge, epic battle. As you may have noticed, we have tried to make it so that we will have a variety of characters in the final, hence why some of you may not be feeling so much for Group 3, and others not feeling so much for the other groups.
But I'll say just this. You will all be surprised with what will actually happen; we have a lot of users, and each person of course will like different things. Some people cannot stand high-school anime, others can't stand mecha, still others don't like DFCs, etc. Upsets will happen, some modest character with a hidden fanbase may take out otherwise popular characters, and so forth. The great (and perhaps depressing) thing about MOTEMOTE is that it is impossible to know exactly what everyone else on FAKKU thinks, and therefore none of us know what will happen. Seeing what happened in the first MOTEMOTE really brought the point home for me.
Okay, the deadline has passed. If you are one of those people (Ramune) who has a finished entry but did not yet submit it please do it as soon as possible. I cannot stress how important it is to get it to me earlier. I will start art direction tomorrow when I get up, so sometime within the next couple of days is ideal.
Thank you all for participating! You have no idea how proud I am of you all and your wonderful submissions. If there are improvements I feel can be made, I will PM them to you shortly. I will also be assigning months to each submission, so if you have any requests post them, and I will try my best to accommodate them.

Very nice drawings indeed. Your style is more Western than the other artists of this forum, but is distinctive and you pay attention to detail.
I'm disappointed that you never got to find out about this thread and submit something, but oh well.

I have perfect pitch, but that's a far way off from what you can do.By the way, the link to Liszt is not working.
So do I, but I'm not sure if it really helps that much with playing by ear/improvisation. Sure, you get the starting key right, but that's about it I reckon.
I'll see if I can find the Liszt somewhere. I'm working on Gnomenreigen right now.
The MOTEMOTE! Character Battle is held annually every December 1st (FAKKU's birthday). It is a contest where our beloved anime girls go against each other for the title of Motemote Champion for the year. And you, the users, get to decide who wins! Every 24 hours, a new battle will appear on the front page, where you can vote for who you think should advance to the next round. The contest proceeds in a knockout tournament fashion until the final winner is picked.
What's in it for you, you ask? Apart from the joys and tears that will come with watching your favorite girls win or lose, you also have the chance to win prizes! Yes, all you have to do is create a bracket where you predict the outcome of the entire contest. Whoever's bracket is most similar to the final outcome wins first prize, the second most similar wins second prize, and so on. Also you are allowed (and encouraged) to post pictures of the girl you support on the thread to try and get others to vote for her.
You will be able to create your brackets on December 1st if you register before December 1st. So do not ask if you can create them now. Your brackets, once submitted, will also be final, so think carefully before you fill it out if you want to win. You are also strongly encouraged to check FAKKU every day when the battles start, so you can give your favorite girls your support. Remember, every vote counts.
Also, many of you seem to be confused about what Motemote actually means. Motemote, written ã‚‚ã¦ã‚‚ã¦, is an adjective used to describe someone who is extremely popular. For example, ã‚‚ã¦ã‚‚ã¦ãªã‚ャラクタ would mean "very popular character". Now, the catch is that Motemote can sometimes be used to denote the feeling one feels towards one who is popular. Have you ever thought a girl (or guy) would make a good partner because of how popular she (or he) was? This feeling is what it is. In other words, Motemote is a very general appeal: all you need to do is vote for the girl you like better, be it because she's sexy, she's cute, she's awesome, she's moe, her personality is great etc. (however, don't vote for a character just because the series is popular; this is a contest of characters, not a contest of series). This way, by definition, the champion will be the most Motemote, since she is the most popular contestant.
With that out of the way, here are the starting brackets! Please note that girls who were in MOTEMOTE 2007 are not eligible to be in MOTEMOTE 2008. You will notice that Group 1 has been changed; we've simply swapped characters around to be as fair as possible while creating some great starting and potential battles. Please spread the word, as well as this image everywhere you go!
Now, because Jacob would rather die than choose which Strike Witches girl to include in the contest, we've decided to let you decide. Between now and December 1st, in order to eliminate ten of the eleven girls, we will be hosting one or two battles every day; as you can see, the first two have already begun. Apart from determining the final Strike Witch, it also allows you to get a feel of what the contest will be like.
Enjoy this awesome annual event!

Just updated the first post with the 10 submissions I received so far. They all look great! Do not just scrap your project/don't send it just because we almost have 12; I'd like to have more than 12 entries, for safety reasons, and I also need to have artwork for the front. Any extras that I feel are good enough but did not get a month can also be tagged to the end as extra artwork.
I would also like to remind all of you the deadline is just two days away. Those of you who still have submissions to finish (Zutroy, Mycstea, Techeese), and those of you who still have submissions to submit (Mycstea, Ramune, holy101), please hurry up and do so. If you guys need more time, the absolute final deadline is November 31st, but it would be awesome if you could get it in before then for art direction.
Also, artists, since you can all see the final submissions now, and are all part of the project, you are encouraged to critique them! I myself will post my evaluations a day after the deadline (November 26th), and if there are any changes that need to be made, resubmissions will be due November 31st.

After who knows how long, we're finally done with this translation project.
I originally intended to release it yesterday, but you know what happened instead. But that's over, and let's hope it won't happen again.
For release notes, download links, and other fun stuff, please click on the above picture. As for Motemote2, there are quite a few changes to the original plan, but I'll leave the details to when we finally reveal the starting lineup, hopefully in the next few days.
Enjoy!
