I don't have any notifications turned off, but I've not been notified when mentioned before now. I also sometimes get notified when I receive an upvote and sometimes I don't. I also get notified when I make a thread, saying I've responded in it... it's the opening post.

I couldn't tell you about h-manga uploads, I generally just view content when I feel like it.

But it seems like the whole system is just consistently fucked all the time.

I haven't watched much anime for the past 2 years. Mostly working and gaming.

I'm going to be 30 next April.

I guess I'm #2 but I've never used Crunchyroll.
I'm also a bit of #3 because I've bought stuff and will discuss anime with people if the topic comes up.

True, can't say I fully agree with censoring discussion of unlicensed content for that reason. But from another perspective, I suppose they don't want the site to be used as a platform to encourage piracy in any form, and nipping it in the bud. I believe anti-piracy was the reason Nosebleed was removed. I notice some threads are left untouched, and I assume those are the ones with licensed content.

So another problem that I didn't really consider in my opening post is that it's not really clear what is licensed and what isn't. And I wonder if any of the thread locks refer to content that is licensed but is simply locked as a precaution due to the vague descriptions.

About half of the first page of Anime and Manga is full of locked threads, and next to none of them have been posted in by whoever's locking them to give a reason as to why. When you don't give a reason, people won't get the message as to why they're getting locked, so people just continue making those threads.

One thing I've learned in my time in retail is that people don't read things properly or even at all, and I'm no exception to this rule. So the sticky at the top of the forum informing users of the rule might as well not exist. I'd recommend just being a little more direct with a user by giving a reason and directing them to the thread that states request threads for unlicensed content isn't allowed, even if it's just a simple copy-paste like this so they can figure out the reason for the lock on their own;



I think that would eventually hammer in the message.

Due to the sheer number of locked threads as well, it might be prudent to purge some of the older ones just to clear the section up a bit.

Must be a site-wide problem then. Assuming it's not intentional.
