One of the newbies at work is a bit of work to deal with.
She doesn't listen to what we say when she asks where something goes, in fact on average we tell her where something goes three times before it's put out. And when she's on the till... my god. *RIIIING* *RIIIIIIIIIING* *RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING*
In the end I babysat her on the till so she wouldn't call for help with the bell again and guide her through the many minor mistakes she makes before she panics her arse off.
I get she's new and it's a lot to take in all at once, I've been there. But christ even I wasn't this bad. I actually listened and tried my damned hardest to not fuck up.
It's just frustrating when you have a million things to do yourself and have to constantly go out of your way to bail someone else out.
My coworkers think she has a bit of an authority complex as well since she suggests ways we could merchandise the stock (despite not yet knowing anything about merchandising the stock due to having started very recently) and tries (keyword try) to help with cashing up by counting half of the till's takings, despite that being a very bad idea as she could make a mistake or cause whoever's counting to be thrown off themselves. And a till that's wrong gets everyone into trouble. She's an older lady as well, so they hope she isn't going to have a problem having higherups that are younger than her.

- I got through today. It was incredibly busy today, I spent my entire 8 hour shift stood at the till serving people. To give an idea of how busy it was, we took 3 grand by the time I finished. We're classed as a discount retailer which means most things are cheap as peanuts.

Haven't been paid for all the extra hours I've been doing yet. I've only been paid for last month's batch of overtime up to the beginning of this month (which wasn't as much as this month's) so my payout isn't as much as I'd hoped.
I'm basically full time right now (32 hours last week, 37 hours this week) even though my contracted minimum hours is only 6 due to understaffing.

It's also happened at my voluntary place, where I usually stay the whole day and they trust me enough to lock the door. I once walked past there and it was still open half an hour after closing, for this reason as well as piss-poor volunteers who didn't want to do any work so she was left to do everything so was behind on the day's paperwork and closing procedures. So I offered to help with the paperwork and get everything out on display in so she could focus on closing up the shop.
