This looks awesome, that advanced search looks especially neat. I'm excited to install it and try it out.

confused about the paging data on api.fakku.net/indexthere are definitely multiple pages, but even if you request a specific /page/#
you don't seem to get the "pages" variable back, or the correct total items.
Good catch, I'll add the pages attribute to that API call. The index call should always have 10 pages, no more and no less (at least for now).

Hey Jacob, I've run into a couple of irregularities working with the API, which seem to also extend to the site:- Search results are inconsistent. When I search for "retake", half the time "RETAKE After" shows up, half the time it doesn't.
- Not all tags are returned by the tags query, and similarly not all are listed on the tags page. For example, the "animated" tag is absent.
Are these known issues? Is the second intentional (e.g. b/c "animated" has only two items)?
P.S. - I just noticed that making a "read" request for an item which has been taken down b/c of a DMCA request returns a 451 error. Awesome! I wish more sites did that.
If a tag doesn't show up it means I never chose a sample image for the tag (specifically, for the tags page). I'll figure one out for animated so that it starts showing up. We also just added the "idol" and "pregnant" tag.
The search result issue sounds like a bug, I'll poke around and see what's going on.

I regret ex' decision to remove all wani content from the site. I do not support Fakku Books, just like you. However, I do not weep and throw tantrum like you do. We true pirates do not grieve after lost plunder. We simply have to plunder more. Pirates will keep on evolving, no matter how they try to defend themselves.
Also check this site if you're still hurt because of wani tragedy. They are trying to recover the pirates loot over there. Maybe you can help, instead of whining incessantly here.
Obviously pirating will always exist, there is no denying that. My stance on this is that the best way to convince people to support something (in this case FAKKU Books), is to offer a product that is really really good. When we negotiated this deal we made sure it was exactly what we would want because we grew up pirates just like everyone else. Our books will match the Japanese print quality with a cover jacket, the thick/large paper size, fullcolor pages, pinup posters, etc. It won't be like any other manga you've seen published in English. On top of that we are able to offer something that has never been seen before, the artists original uncensored artwork. And the artists get a portion of everything sold, so everyone wins (even the pirates).
I am not trying to convert you, but some people would prefer to support something like this. It's fine if you don't want to be one of those people but you shouldn't criticize those that choose to buy the book. Without them you wouldn't be able to pirate it.
Also locking this thread because I'm a huge jerk.
Happy to clear up any misunderstandings. Our deal with Wani is unprecedented, so there is a lot of confusion and misunderstandings. I am really excited about this as Wani is an incredible company. If me taking the time to clear up the confusion results in even one more book being purchased it's all worth it.
The artists get a cut of everything sold. Every book. Every poster. Every anything. That artist gets a percentage that they decide on their own. Hopefully we'll be announcing some new things soon that should get everyone excited. If you've been to any of our panels I may have teased some of my ideas.
$20 is a good price for a tankÅbon, especially considering we are giving away the digital version for free (though it is just a pre-order bonus). We set this price based on the costs to produce the book (our books are going to have jackets, full color pages, Japanese paper size), royalties to Wani and the artists, we have to think about our competitors (other hentai manga publishers), the costs associated with translating and editing the book into English (paying our employees), and also so that we can wholesale to comic book shops and other retailers. A lot goes into the price.

This thread is silly. FAKKU is blocked in Japan because uncensored hentai is illegal in Japan, and we will be selling it on the site. Also we don't have the rights to sell things we publish in Japan (the companies we work with retain those rights).
Now that pre-orders have started for our first book I figure it's time to talk about how we got here and how FAKKU Books came to exist. Back in April we received a DMCA takedown notice from Wanimagazine, the largest ero manga publisher in the world. They requested we remove thousands of uploads from the site or face significant legal repercussions. As a fan of the many artists and magazines published by Wani we thanked them for noticing us and complied immediately. But on the inside I thought to myself, shit. That’s it. FAKKU is done for.
But rather than sulk we came up with an idea, what if we found a way to work with them rather than try to hide? Why do we have to be fans in the shadows. Why can’t we be legitimate along with everyone else? Why isn't this content available to us? After refining these ideas we pitched them to the publishers in Japan and the result was better than we could have ever imagined. We are now going to publish Wani’s entire catalog; Gunma, Homunculus, Hisasi, Napata, meme50, isao, Bosshi, and so many other talented artists. Available legally worldwide. Uncensored. DRM free. Digital. Paperback. Magazines. All of it. As fans it is everything we could have possibly wanted.
As a community we have scanlated and fansubbed in order to fill the hole that these companies left when they chose to ignore us. Because of our hard work things are starting to change. They are listening to us. No longer is piracy our only option. No longer are we forced to look in the shittiest corners of the Internet to find anime worth watching or manga worth reading. We should celebrate our victories, because that’s what they are. And now with FAKKU we have the opportunity to bring over hentai in ways that have never been seen before. I honestly believe there is a market for high quality hentai manga outside of Japan, and so far the pre-order numbers for Renai Sample have proved it. We’re putting together a talented team of people to work on these releases from scratch and I know the results will impress everyone.
All that said, as a community we still have a lot of work to do. Fansubbing and scanlating are not ready to disappear. Scanlating and fansubbing exist not because we want to be pirates, but because we've had no other choice. There are too many good artists and too many good shows that would never be seen without our hard work. For now we still have a responsibility to make sure it continues, but hopefully one day we won't have to. Until then keep scanlating, keep fansubbing, and keep making this one of the best communities to be a part of.
I couldn't be more proud of where we are with FAKKU and how much we have grown. These companies now consider us a part of their audience, but more importantly they recognize us as their fans. At FAKKU we have a lot of exciting things planned and there will no doubt be some big changes made in the future. As we go through this transition I hope you stick with us, because the end result is going to be incredible.

I was pre-order digital one for my reasonable price. But I curious about digital version. Is this digital version will include poster picture and any limited stuffs?
If yes, are these in digital format or physical format?
The pin-up poster that is included in the paperback edition will also be a part of the digital edition, though we'll probably just turn it into a downloadable wallpaper.
Yes, once pre-orders end the digital edition will no longer be bundled with the paperback edition. But if you buy multiple digital editions you will (eventually) be able to send them to other users as gifts.

Looks great...I wanted to preorder it but the shipping costs really are expensive. I wouldn't mind paying for it, except I wanted to get all the 3 planned pre-order releases in a single shipment because my wallet can't handle individual shipping payments....Speaking of which, I wanted to know when the other pre-orders are available? are they only available to pre-order after this current pre-order for Renai Sample has ended or is it possible to pre-order all 3 (or more) for a single shipment?
For the first three books the pre-orders will most likely be at different times. pyon-Kti will most likely be available for pre-order next.

I tried Chrome/firefox/IE. CC/Paypal checkout works fine and proceeds to the payment page, coinbase just sits there on the preparing screen.Should be fixed now, sorry about that

Has anyone been able to check out with coinbase/bitcoin?It keeps getting stuck on preparing order for checkout when I try to finalize my order :(
I'll take a look, what browser are you using?

So happy I've pre-ordered this, great art and fully uncensored to boot. Shame it cost more to ship it to me than the product itself but that's a small detail when it comes to supporting more of this :)MisterCDN wrote...
Would buy it... if it didn't cost more than the pre-order to actually ship it to Denmark :(Sorry about the international shipping costs. I've heard it can get a little pricey outside of the United States, thank you for pre-ordering regardless! All of our books will be available on Amazon, and we're currently looking at getting them listed on the Book Depository.

One question, the digital version, how does that gets delivered, in a CD, a file, a kindle book? (I'm kinda not very informed about this)I'll be posting more details in a week or two, but all digital purchases will be available in a new section of your profile for you to read/download anytime you want.
I'll be doing a much more in-depth post about Renai Sample and FAKKU books later this week, but now that pre-orders have started I wanted to share some samples from the book. All week long we will be posting sample images on the FAKKU Twitter and in the FAKKU Books forum, so make sure you follow them if you'd like to see more! Did I mention our books are uncensored?
Renai Sample Chapter 5

Renai Sample Chapter 3

Renai Sample Chapter 2
Renai Sample Chapter 5

Renai Sample Chapter 3

Renai Sample Chapter 2
Hmm good catch, I just did a temporary fix that is at least showing all the topics. I'll have something more solid in place tomorrow.
